in Barbados participating in the Commonwealth Caribbean Seasonal Agricultural
Worker Programme’s Annual Review Meeting. Yesterday, he delivered Opening

🗞️ Media Release: Labour Ministry Intervenes in Secrets Hotel Industrial
Dispute The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has intervened in the ongoing
industrial dispute at Secrets, Montego Bay, where approximately 100 workers took
industrial action today to address employment-related concerns. Our team met
with both staff and management, providing workers with the opportunity to voice
their issues. The Ministry remains dedicated to fostering a peaceful industrial

2024, the Hon. Pearnel Charles and the leadership of the Ministry of Labour and
Social Security hosted a courtesy call with UNICEF’s leadership, including: •
Mrs. Anne-Claire Dufay, Deputy Regional Director for Latin America and the
Caribbean • Ms. Maaike Arts, Regional Adviser for Health and Nutrition • Mr.
Italo Dutra, Regional Adviser for Education This meaningful engagement centred
on strengthening UNICEF’s collaboration with Jamaica, exchanging insights on
public policies, and addressing key challenges affecting children and
adolescents. As part of the mid-term review of the Country Programme, we
discussed innovative strategies to support the most vulnerable and ensure
meaningful impact. The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund
works in more than 190 countries to protect the rights of every child, with a

Hurricane Beryl Handing Over Tour. We kicked off in St. Catherine on Tuesday,
