Rutgers University in Camden is pleased to announce that Chancellor Antonio D.
Tillis has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Coalition of Urban and
Metropolitan Universities (CUMU). He will join select presidents and chancellors
of CUMU’s 115+ member institutions in confronting higher education’s most
critical issues.

“Colleges and universities seated in urban and metropolitan areas have a
fundamental responsibility to transform their communities through access,
affordability, and social mobility,” Tillis said. “Further, it is the role of
academic institutions like Rutgers–Camden to partner with municipal government
and the private sector to educate and elevate for the common good. It is a
privilege to work with CUMU in expanding such opportunities both locally and on
an international scale.”

“I’ve learned what it means for us, for our families, and for the college to be
a first-generation student. We're starting a lineage of being successful in
college, and everything falls on us because we have nothing behind us. We're
starting the building from the foundation."

Closing soon! Check out "Crosswind: In Memory of My Father" by @rucvmpa alumnus
Austin Cuttino '21 at the Student Works Gallery through next Friday, Nov. 17.

"Crosswind is a visual documentation of Cuttino’s loss of his father in 2022.
This sudden shift in direction sent him inward as he explored his grief,
memories, and family home in order to piece together a reflection of what was
and is still there. Through the hallways of memory, Austin recollects aviation
talks with his father at home before this moment of turbulence. There is a wind
so strong and unparallel due course that can stunt planes’ movement, a symbol
all too familiar for both Austin and his father—a crosswind."
