The big picture: Coffee is considered the nation's second most popular beverage, only behind bottled water, with 63% of Americans drinking it in the past day, according to data from the National Coffee Association. * That's down slightly from an NCA survey earlier this year that showed coffee drinking in America reached a 20-year high. WHEN IS NATIONAL COFFEE DAY 2024? INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY? National Coffee Day is held annually on Sept. 29. * International Coffee Day falls two days later on Oct. 1 each year but is the lesser-known day for deals. Fine print: Loyalty has its perks and being signed up for rewards programs is needed to get the majority of these Coffee Day deals, which are available Sunday unless otherwise noted. * Not all locations are participating and most offers require a purchase. * Local businesses may also have deals and some will post on their social media channels. * Be on the lookout for contests from brands. For instance, Keebler has a contest on Instagram. DUNKIN' NATIONAL COFFEE DAY 2024 DEALS Dunkin' Rewards members get a free medium hot or iced coffee with a purchase Sunday at participating locations. * Limit one per member and the deal is "valid for members who order ahead" on the chain's app, per the fine print. * Additional charges and terms may apply. Cold brew and nitro brew are excluded as are gift card purchases. STARBUCKS NATIONAL COFFEE DAY 2024 Starbucks told Axios that it doesn't have a National Coffee Day deal in its stores this year but has an offer on Amazon through Monday, Sept. 30. Spend $50 to get $10 off eligible Starbucks products. * The coffee giant also is partnering with Sofi Tukker to host a free livestreaming event Sunday from 1 to 3pm ET on Twitch's new DJ platform. * Ahead of Coffee Day, Starbucks has a deal Saturday for its rewards members who join the program by noon PT Friday. Get two drinks for $10 or four drinks for $20 at participating stores. MCDONALD'S NATIONAL COFFEE DAY The fast-food giant told Axios it won't have a nationwide deal for Coffee Day 2024 but check the McDonald's app to see if there are local deals near you. * App offers vary by account and region. KRISPY KREME COFFEE DAY DEAL 2024 Krispy Kreme is giving away free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase Sunday. For pickup orders, use code COFFEE. * The chain also announced a second deal — get a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for $2 with the purchase of any dozen and code. MORE NATIONAL COFFEE DAY OFFERS, FREEBIES Baskin-Robbins has its small Cappuccino Blast for $5. A medium is $6, and a large is $7 through Oct. 31. Biggby Coffee is giving away free 16-ounce hot or iced coffee Sunday. The chain also says it has a contest for eligible purchases. Caribou Coffee is giving out free medium Cold Press or hot coffee with purchase of another beverage or 16-ounce bag of coffee beans Sunday. Then, Caribou Perks Appreciation Week starts Monday with deals for loyalty members through Oct. 4. Learn more here. Circle K is celebrating a week of free coffee now through Oct. 2. Get one free medium hot or iced coffee with the chain's app. Duck Donuts is giving away free medium hot coffee and cold brew Sunday when customers make a purchase in-store or online. For online orders, use COFFEEDAY24 at checkout. EG America, which includes banners Cumberland Farms, Fastrac, Kwik Shop, Tom Thumb and more, is offering 99-cent coffee Sunday for SmartRewards members who will receive a coupon. Free after rebates: Get a cup of Icelandic Provisions Extra Creamy Cold Brew Skyr for free after a rebate here and get a can of International Delight Iced Coffee for free after 100% cash back through the Ibotta app with a deal that starts Sunday. Kolache Factory is giving out free 12-ounce cups of coffee Sunday with a coupon that will be posted on Facebook, Instagram, X or the company says by asking for the offer in-store. No purchase is necessary. Maverik and Kum & Go are offering International Coffee Day deals Tuesday, Oct. 1. Adventure Club and &Rewards members get 50% off one cup while upgraded Maverik Nitro cardholders will get one free cup. Paris Baguette has an offer for its PB Rewards members Friday through Sunday. Members get a free, handcrafted medium hot or iced coffee made with any purchase. Peet's Coffee is giving away free small drip coffee or cold brew Sunday. Now through Sunday, Peetnik Rewards members can get a free upsize to their beverage. Pilot: Get a free hot or iced coffee at participating Pilot and Flying J travel centers Sunday with the myRewards Plus app. Playa Bowls: Playa Rewards members who purchase an Apple Turn Up or Jack O Lantern Acai Bowl Sunday, get a free 16-ounce Pumpkin Sweet Cream Cold Brew. Tim Hortons' Tims Rewards members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase one time between Friday and Sunday at participating locations. Whataburger is giving away free 16-ounce iced and 12-ounce hot coffee from 6am to 6pm Sunday. No purchase is necessary, the chain said.
