If you’re looking for a bag of cheap, mass-produced trail mix from some
oversized peanut wearing a top hat and spectacle…įilled with inflammatory
peanuts, sugar-filled candies and tons of artificial ingredients that you can’t
even pronounce the name of…īecause Toodaloo is NOT your average trail mix. Soon,
I started leaving my adaptogenic trail mixes at friends’ doorsteps (during the
pandemic) and I knew I had something when they kept texting me for more… I have
never felt more in my element than when I’m mixing up herbal potions to help
heal people and our planet. I did phone calls with farmers to learn about
harmonious farming practices that create nutritious food and healthy soil that
can help heal the planet.ĭuring this time, I also went down a rabbit hole
learning about the physical, mental and spiritual powers of certain superfoods,
herbs, and botanicals that have nourished our ancestors for thousands of years.

Over the following months, I ordered exotic superfoods, ancient adaptogenic
herbs, and healthy sprouted nuts and seeds from all over the world and started
mixing them together in my kitchen. It felt like time to stop feeling sorry for
myself and to Betty Crocker my way out of this quarantine hell hole. The next
morning, I woke up with purpose. Maybe I could be the one to fix trail mix?

It has been hypothesized that r-determinants exist somewhere in nature as
chromosomal genes and that they are "picked-up" by bacteria to form R-factors.
These are the resistance transfer factor (RTF), and the r-determinants, genes
that determine resistance to antibiotics. Molecular studies have shown that
R-factors consist of two parts that are reversibly dissociable. Since these
genes are not normal chromosomal components of the resistant strains, there has
been considerable speculation as to their origin.

The genetic loci coding for these enzymes are usually located on
extrachromosomal elements, such as the R(antibiotic resistance)-factors in
gram-negative bacteria. The β-lactamases hydrolyze the penicillins and
cephalosporins, chloramphenicol acetyltransferase acetylates chloramphenicol,
and nine enzymes acetylate, phosphorylate, or adenylylate the aminoglycoside
antibiotics. Resistance to antibiotics in clinical isolates of gram-negative and
gram-positive bacteria is usually mediated by the presence of various enzymes
that modify the antibiotic so that it can no longer interact with its target in
