Purpose
In order to focus on incorporating functionality available in newer versions of
the Android operating system, Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub, Assist, and
Launcher for Android will drop support for devices using Android OS 4.4.x upon
release of Android 12 (October 4th, 2021).

Upon Android 12’s release (October 4th, 2021), new releases of Workspace ONE
Intelligent Hub, Assist, and Launcher will no longer support Android
4.4.x. Additionally, with the end of support for Android 4.4.x, .As planned,
this work will commence on April 1st. It is expected to be completed by June
30th, 2022. As specific environments are scheduled for migration, you can expect
to receive additional communications.


Impact / Risks
On Premise customers
Enrolled devices will not be impacted when the new app releases become available
in Google Play and the My Workspace ONE portal. The devices will simply not
update to the newest version of the Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub, Assist or
Launcher and remain on the existing version of the software.

SaaS customers
Devices running <=Android 4.4.x will no longer be manageable by SaaS Workspace
ONE environments as VMware will be disabling TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 in data centers
by June 30th, 2022. Devices running <=Android 4.4.x do not support TLS 1.2+.


Resolution
Customers should upgrade their Android devices to meet the minimum operating
system requirements to utilize subsequent Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub, Assist,
and Launcher releases. After upgrading the Android OS:
 * The Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub can be updated through the Google Play
   Store.
 * The latest versions of Workspace ONE Assist can be downloaded from the My
   Workspace ONE portal and deployed through the Workspace ONE UEM console as an
   internal app.
 * To receive new versions of Workspace ONE Launcher, navigate to Groups &
   Settings > All Settings > Devices & Users > Android > Service Applications >
   AirWatch Launcher Version. Then select the version of Launcher to be deployed
   to devices.
