The program awards scholarships that will support undergraduates in their third and fourth years and for a fifth-year Master's degree in applied mathematics or statistics. It also provides mentoring and summer research opportunities to help them succeed. This program is supported by a $1.5 million NSF S-STEM grant, awarded to a team of department faculty led by Maryclare Griffin. Applications for the Fall 2023 cohort are due April 1st. Read More DEPARTMENT NEWS All News * NATHANIEL WHITAKER DELIVERS 2023 EINSTEIN PUBLIC LECTURE TO AMERICAN MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY On 15 April 2023 at the University of Cincinnati, Professor Whitaker gave the annual Einstein Public Lecture to the American Mathematical Society. * STUDENT AWARDS FOR 2022-23 On May 1, the Department hosted a dinner to honor students, both undergraduate and graduate, with prominent achievements this academic year. * STATISTICS M.S. DEGREE IN THE BOSTON AREA (100% REMOTE DEGREE AVAILABLE) The department is pleased to offer a Statistics M.S. Degree at the UMass Amherst satellite campus in Newton (Boston Area), with entirely evening classes. A 100% Remote Program is also offered for the Statistics M.S. Degree. Applications accepted on a rolling basis through June 30 for Fall enrollment (May 31 for international students). * ALUMNI PROFILES: ASSOCIATE DEAN JOSE M.
