Some have jumped into protesting for the first time, while others are watching on the margins, their own thoughts about the war in Gaza still evolving. Many say feelings of unease and fear have settled in as bucolic campuses are transformed into ideological battlegrounds. Some are wary about what students and civil rights leaders have decried as an overly aggressive police response. Others are concerned that the protests have emboldened antisemitic viewpoints.
