Through her company, Flora Bella (Overseas) Ltd, established in 2001, Barbara provides professional, horticultural consultation and landscape services to commercial, institutional and individual clients worldwide. With impressive credentials and specialist expertise with water gardens and drought-tolerant landscape conditions, Barbara has been a front runner in sustainable gardening for more than three decades. Flora Bella works with landscape extremes, in addition to more typical garden conditions. As a Director of Etablissements Botaniques Latour-Marliac SA in France, Stapeley Water Gardens Ltd. in the United Kingdom, and Santa Barbara Water Gardens and Landscapes in California, USA, she maximized broad, practical experience in many landscape management disciplines. Barbara’s horticultural research and writing topics include international contemporary and historic gardening and botany, practical gardening and garden construction, and gastronomic, ritual/spiritual and medicinal plant uses (especially endemic and introduced Eastern Mediterranean and Californian plants). Her gardening journalism has been published in magazines, newspapers and peer-reviewed journals in the United States, Britain, France, Greece and Cyprus. She also writes on maritime themes such as port building, yachting destinations and historic trade routes. As a certificated horticulture and landscape instructor, Barbara presents courses and training programs on planning, design, construction and maintenance of xeric, aquatic and ornamental-edible gardens. She trains landscapers in irrigation and drainage system design and installation, and on international and historic botanical and landscape topics.
