@nicksdjohnson

So excited that this is now public: my box

.box will be the first Blockchain DNS - routable TLD, and it’s enabled via ENS!
All registrations and transfers will be onchain, and the owner of the NFT will
own both the DNS and ENS name.

sohrab.eth

@sohrab

I like what. box (@boxdomains) is doing- offering DNS .box domain in tandem with
ENS. box name

more TLDs will do this bc it makes a lot of sense

What i’d love to see is a TLD *reserve* DNS TLD matches for .eth owners ex. 180
- day period where i can reserve sohrab.tld at a cost

@aristodo1

Tokenized TLDs is a groundbreaking idea that makes so much sense in restrospect.

After all, web domains are probably the OG digital non fungible asset. Long
before blockchains were a thing.

@boxdomains is defining a new category of NFTs with *real* utility, whilst
making domain management & exchange safer & more efficient.

FAQS

What are .box domains?

.box is the first of it’s kind: one domain fully integrated with two
technologies (Internet and Blockchain). .box domains work seamlessly with both
the Domain Name System (DNS) and the Ethereum Name Service (ENS).
Who is behind this project?

.box is owned and operated by Intercap Registry Inc, an ICANN Accredited
Registry Operator. We are the registry for numerous Top Level Domains, including
.inc, .llp, and .dealer. We have been working on .box for nearly a decade.
Why get a .box domain?

.box is a fully tokenized top level domain that is compatible with DNS and ENS.
As such, .box is the logical answer for Decentralized Identity (DID). Every one
of our domains instantly supports decentralized ownership and records
management, payments, Web3 authentication, email, websites, and Web3 messaging.
Do .box domains support multi-signature ownership?

.box domains can soon be owned and controlled by a multi-signature wallet,
enabling collaborative ownership and enhanced security.
How do payments work with my .box domain?

.box domains leverage the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) for forward resolution.
This refers to the process of translating a human-readable domain name, such as
“example.box”, into a machine-readable Ethereum address. This allows users to
receive crypto payments directly to their .box domain.
How do .box domains uses the L2 blockchain?

.box domains are deployed and traded on Optimism, a Layer 2 scaling solution,
for faster transaction speeds and significantly reduced gas fees compared to
mainnet Ethereum transactions.
Can I use .box domains for traditional web2 purposes?

Yes, .box domains can resolve Web2 email addresses and websites, providing a
bridge between the decentralized and centralized web.

Websites hosted on .box domains will be indexable and searchable on popular
search engines like Google.

.box domains naturally work with mainstream browsers such as Chrome and Safari,
and traditional email clients such as Outlook and G Suite.

How do .box domains differ from other Web3 domains?

Other Web3 Native domains face several limitations – most notably of which THEY
ARE NOT supported by major internet services (e.g., Chrome, Safari, G Suite,
Google, Bing).

.box domains are Web3 Native AND they work with Web2 infrastructure. .box
domains naturally work with mainstream browsers such as Chrome and Safari, and
traditional email clients such as Outlook and G Suite.

Do .box domains integrate with ENS?

Yes, .box domains seamlessly integrate with ENS (Ethereum Name Service). They’re
compatible with the ENS Resolver Contract and can support forward resolution.
This refers to the process of translating a human-readable domain name, such as
“example.box”, into a machine-readable Ethereum address.

[COMING SOON] .box domains will also support Reverse Resolution via ENS.

Are .box domains compatible with decentralized apps (dApps)?

Yes, due to their ENS integration, .box domains work seamlessly with various
dApps, allowing for a cohesive Web3 experience.
Are Web3 domains part of ICANN’s traditional DNS?

Most other Web3 domains operate independently of ICANN's traditional DNS.
However, .box domains are uniquely crafted to be compatible with both Web2 and
Web3 infrastructures, enabling them to interact with traditional web services
while retaining decentralized benefits.
How can I purchase .box domain?

.box domains are exclusively available at https://my.box.

What happens after I register my .box domain?

Once you finalize registration, your .box domain will resolve to a profile page
hosted by my.box. You can use the my.box app to manage all settings associated
with your domain and your profile.
How are .box domains priced?

Newly available .box domain prices will follow an exponential decay curve,
halving every 24 hours for 144 hours.

Domains enter this premium pricing curve on launch and then again any time they
are not renewed.

Starting price: $7,680

24 hours: $3,840

48 hours: $1,920

72 hours: $960

96 hours: $480

120 hours: $240

144+ hours: $120

How much are .box domain renewal fees?

Renewal pricing for all .box domains is $120 per year.
