WELCOME TO GREAT DUCK ISLAND HOUSE

Great Duck Island House is a sanctuary apart from the world. It is the only home
on a wilderness island in in the Gulf of Maine archipelago, 10 miles offshore
and due south of Acadia National Park. The house sits on the northeast point of
the island and is surrounded by water on three sides. It is so close to the
ocean that you can hear waves crashing on the rocks and see seals swimming along
the shore.

It is easy to fall in love with this place and with whoever is here with you. 
Since 1993 when we started renting the house, about half of the renters have
been couples who came here for their honeymoon or for an anniversary.  Some of
our renters are families who have been coming here off and on for decades.  Our
family’s name for the house is “Heaven’s Edge.”
