FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I'm just starting out in post production. Are these courses advanced?
Our courses are designed for both beginners and experienced editors. It's
extremely important to create good habits when it comes to workflows, so in many
ways, the more of a beginner you are, the better. The courses are detailed and
easy to understand, and most importantly, they contain PRACTICAL, REAL-WORLD
techniques to help you accomplish what you want. 
Are the courses for picture editing or sound editing?
Both. Our courses encompass all of post production, which includes picture
editing, sound editing, visual fx, color correction/grading, outputs/renders,
deliverables, and more. 
How long are the courses? 
Each course contains a series of short videos. Each video covers a 'chapter' in
the overall lesson, averaging between 4-5 mins long. Some courses may contain
just 2 videos, and some (like the Master Class in Dialogue Editing) may contain
20 or more. The courses are detailed and (we hope!) easy to follow. You can stop
viewing at any time and come back - the system will remember just where you left
off. 
Do I get to keep the courses forever?
You can purchase each course individually, or with one low annual subscription
fee, you can have unlimited access to every course on our site, with no
restrictions. We will not allow you to download the courses but you can sign in
and view them on the course page anytime you wish. Course videos play in our
special interactive players allowing you to stop, pause and navigate anytime you
wish. You can even sign out and revisit any of your courses and the player will
remember where you left off. It's YOUR schedule. 
Will the courses be updated? 
Yes! And if you have purchased a subscription, you will have full access to all
the updates. We will notify you whenever your course has been updated, so you
can then sign in and get the latest information. While many of our courses focus
on solid techniques that do NOT necessarily change with the rise of technology;
others courses that are dependent on software will be updated on a regular basis
as needed. 

Why does it matter that the courses are taught by industry professionals?
While there are thousands of online courses out there, we don't see many that
are being taught by those who work in post-production day in and day out.
There's a reason that major Hollywood studios have adopted certain workflows
with regards to post production; because they work. These techniques have been
honed and refined for decades by professionals who need to get the job done
efficiently and accurately -- in large part so that they can get home at night.
It's important to realize that creativity cannot flourish if one is bound up by
technical limitations. With our courses you will learn how to edit dialogue the
way professionals do; how to do an audio mix properly; and dozens more lessons
that will enhance the way you work. 
Are your courses relevant for indie films?
Yes, in fact, that's the whole idea. We are bringing major studio-grade
techniques to the indie world. Few people understand that if you know what you
are doing, there really is no reason why your film or video production cannot at
least SOUND like an A-list feature film. When it comes to the LOOK of your film,
a lot of that has to do with cinematography, lighting and direction (and no, it
doesn't have to be shot on RED) -- but without knowing how to properly post your
project, all of that can go completely to waste. Whether you are a producer,
director, or an editor, learning post production is the single most important
thing you can do to improve your filmmaking skills.
