Senegalese immigrant Salif Thioune shares his story of migration and despair in
a book, which he penned during the COVID-19 pandemic. He highlighted his
recollections of wanting to leave his home, getting stuck at detention in Libya
and finding his eventual redemption in Italy with InfoMigrants' partner ANSA
during a public presentation of his book.


ELVIS' TALE: 'I WANT TO GO BACK TO NIGERIA'

Elvis Onwubolo is 27 years old. He arrived in Italy in 2016. After years of
trying to survive in a foreign country, he realized he missed his home and
wanted to return to Nigeria. He thought he would travel the Mediterranean
migrant route in reverse, but got lost and was found by police on the Sicilian
island of Linosa.
