Generally they don't, but there are rumors about milking table during semen
donation. But they are not true. Nurses only give in Porn movies😂

I’ve never know of a nurse giving a handjob, but let me tell you, they can give
you a hell of an enema, and by the nature of your question, you should be
careful, it might be fatal. You’d probably shit your brains out.

Are nurses ever required to give handjobs as part of a medical procedure?

No, nurses are absolutely never required to bring any type of sexual release to
a patient.

I will confess that I did as a favor one time. It was way back in 1972 and as an
Air Force nurse at a large Air Force medical center in Texas we had a young Air
Force officer who had been in an auto accident. He had 3rd degree burns to his
hands and part of face. We had him as a patient for almost 4 months with skin
graft after skin graft not to mention healing if other injuries.

graft after skin graft not to mention healing if other injuries.

He askef me one night if I could help him releive him sexually. I played dumb
and askef what he was asking. He raised his bandage covered hands and forearms
and told me that it would be great if I could give him a handjob. I informed him
that I just wasn't able to do that for him. It wasn't allowed. He asked me every
single night I worked for 2 weeks and I gave in. I did feel bad for him and I
think I understood his frustration in not being capable of helping himself.

I grabbed the massage lotion and reached under the sheet. I undid his bottoms
and pulled down the front of them exposing his member. I never looked under the
sheet but because of my day shift times I had already seen it since I had to
bath him at times. Still, I didn't look. I put the cream in my hand and
proceeded to stroke him. He let it go rather quickly and I could feel the warmth
hit my hand. I forgot that there would be sime clean up so I had to look then
when I pulled back the sheet to clean him up. I guess it had been building up
because his cum was all over him and the sheet not to mention what hit my hand.
I used a lot if tissues but got him cleaned up. He thanked me at least a dozen
times and when I covered him back up, he fell right to sleep.

Neither of us ever mentioned it again and he never askef me to do it again.

I do not feel bad about what I did. It wasn't in the line of duty, it was more
feeling bad for the guy who was in a diffecult position.

Can nurses have relationships with patients?

No offense, but don’t flatter yourself. Most of our patients come in not at
their best! Usually very much at their worst. We see far more of you than we
need to, and we get to look at all of your least flattering bits and pieces. And
even if you don’t look like a complete hot mess, we walk right out of your room
into a room with someone who stinks like 3 day old sweat and feces. Or a drunk
who keeps vomiting everywhere, or a junky looking for drugs, or whatever nasty
scenarios you might think...

Do nurses make good patients?

No. I don't. There's germs in there and people who make mistakes. Hospitals are
for other people and I prefer being on the other side of the bed. Plus the times
I felt bad enough to go to a hospital or I should say allowed someone to take me
by ambulance I was septic. No one believed it until labs proved it including me.
So if I am in one of those places as a patient I am very ill, and at their
mercy, and spending my time trying to get out. Get more rest at home.

What do nurses never tell their patients?

When I was in nursing school, the three main things we were told to NEVER tell a
patient:

 1. “Everything will be all right.” This is false reassurance. How do you know
everything will turn out all right? Lying to patients causes them to
mistrust you and whatever you represent to them (the hospital, the doctor’s
    office, etc.)
 2. “It’s not going to hurt” when it is going to hurt. Again, lying to patients
results in mistrust and it’s especially true with children, who carry the
emotional scars of severe illness and hospitalization for the rest of their
    lives.

 3. “I know how you feel!” No, you as a nurse have no idea how the
patient/family feels. By jumping in and saying you understand, you’ve cut
them off from actually talking about how they feel and getting some *real*
    reassurance rather than false reassurance.

My nursing instructors had their masters primarily in mental health nursing and
they were adamant that we learn active listening skills.

Edited to add: I’veonly been posting on Quora for a few weeks. Up until
6/5/2018, many of my (very random :-)) posts were getting thousands and
thousands of views. On 6/5 I wrote a controversial post about the need for video
recording patient care. The post started to go viral with about 1300 posts in
about an hour, then suddenly everything stopped.

From then on, views have just trickled in on my posts. If you compare the number
of views on the posts I wrote prior to 6/5, to the number of views on the posts
I wrote after 6/5, you can definitely see the difference. So please Follow me or
go to my Profile to read my posts. Thanks!

How and when are nurses not the guardians of their patients?

This is a tough one to answer because I don’t know the specifics as to “why”
you’re asking this question. I’ll try to answer it to the best of my ability.

Nurses play one of the most pivotal roles in patient care. We are seen as the
“ultimate” advocates. We are the protectors and as you said, guardians, of our
patients.

There is one nurse assigned to multiple patients depending on the unit. Within
the shift, it is their responsibility to protect and serve that patient.

The only time a nurse is no longer the guardian of a patient is when that
patient gets transferred to a different specialty: for example, an ICU nurse
transfers their patient to the operating room (OR) nurse for surgery. The OR
nurse is now the guardian until they transfer that patient back to the ICU.

I can’t think of a time when I was working and I wasn’t the guardian of a
patient. Even when I delegated to somebody else, I was still responsible for the
results.

That’s why the nursing profession is regarded as the most trusted profession.
Although doctors have more “control” over the orders of the patient, the nurse
is ultimately the advocate, administrator of medication, and observer in all
medical procedures. Therefor we must always be guarding our patients.

Hope this answers your question. If not, clarify below!

For my mother-in-law I used around the clock care from Nurses on demand. This is

Their certified nurses provided all the assistance we needed, right in the

feeding and bathing.

Do nurses care?

We do care so much about our patients and their loved ones! It is a calling that
is not for everyone; service to others in all moments of life. However, please
keep in mind we are humans as well. I had to work the morning I found out my
husband was having an affair while I was pregnant…I definitely cared well for
all my patients that day; as I do everyday…but I may have been in the bathroom
fighting back my own tears and was a minute late with your loved ones discharge
paperwork! Keep in mind we give our most to our position but we are still human.

Why do nurses call patients clients?

Client sounds more like a reciprocal relationship. They aren't just someone we
are taking care of. They are the most important person in their Healthcare
journey. We work WITH them (obviously, sometimes they can also work against us
but regardless they are the biggest factor in their treatment and, absolutely,
influence their outcome more than anyone else)
