THE FSFE DEMANDS EU COMMISSION SUSTAINABLE LONG-TERM FREE SOFTWARE FUNDING

Press Release

In the wake of the recent €27 million cut in the NGI funding, the Free Software
Foundation Europe (FSFE) is responding to growing concern by participating in a
public consultation of the European Commission. The FSFE is stressing the urgent
need for sustainable, long-term financial support for Free Software to ensure
Europe's technological independence.

Newsletter

September is here, along with our newsletter. We have continued advocating for a
Free Software budget in Europe, following the European Commission's decision to
stop NGI funding, and we are intervening in Apple's lawsuit against the European
Commission. YH4F got a new sponsor and its 2024 edition is in the final stage,
and the ZOOOM project ended.

SPREAD YOUR CONCERN ABOUT FREE SOFTWARE FUNDING IN YOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER

News

Are you also worried and concerned about the European Commission decision to cut
the funding for Free Software projects? Besides contacting European
representatives you can also write a letter to the editor of your local
newspaper to make their readers aware of the importance of funding Free Software
solutions with a long term sustainable funding.

OUR COMMUNITY GET ACTIVE...

I was a solitary voice for years, explaining the principles behind Free Software
and its importance for people in my country in numerous articles and blog posts.
I wanted to belong to an organization with the goal of building the digital
society on 100% Free Software, and supporting the FSFE.

Carsten Agger (Software Engineer)

I believe that Free Software can help us change our society fundamentally for
the better and I believe the best way to do so is together with other volunteers
from all over Europe!

Alexandra Busch (IT specialist)

Nowadays we use social networks, laptops and mobile devices every day. And very
frequently we lose the important social and political vision of Free Software in
all of them. Thanks to FSFE, FSF and other similar organizations and many local
groups, we maintain the torch of a different world where everyone can use and
share a lot of programs and code, no matter the country you live in or how much
money you can afford to spend on it.

Dani Gutiérrez Porset (Free Software Consultant)
