https://api.whatsapp.com/send?text=*Fasting%20of%20the%20Eyes*n%C2%A0The%20image%20has%20invaded%20our%20current%20world%20and%20has%20now%20become%20the%20basis%20of%20our%20world.%20The%20image%20now%20occupies%20the%20widest%20space%20in%20all%20fields.%20The%20era%20of%20the%20printed%20word%20has%20passed,%20giving%20way%20to%20an%20age%20where%20words%20must%20accompany%20images%20to%20be%20taken%20seriously.%C2%A0%20The%20image%20invades%20the%20human%20mind%20in%20today%E2%80%99s%20world,%20saturating%20memory,%20overwhelming%20consciousness,%20and%20burdening%20the%20intellect.%20The%20constant%20barrage%20of%20images%20affects%20our%20thoughts,%20both%20conscious%20and%20subconscious,%20burdening%20our%20imagination%20and%20leading%20to%20impure%20thoughts,%20which%20serve%20as%20a%20gateway%20to%20sinful%20acts.%C2%A0%20The%20danger%20of%20images%20in%20this%20era%20comes%20from%20addiction%20to%20the%20use%20of%20social%20media,%20which%20demands%20constant%20engagement%20of%20the%20eyes%20and%20other%20senses.%20Information%20is%20now%20inseparable%20from%20one%20or%20more%20images,%20often%20accompanied%20by%20sensational%20or%20explicit%20news.%20This%20kind%20of%20content,%20driven%20by%20human%20curiosity%20and%20the%20thirst%20for%20knowledge,%20garners%20high%20readership.%20Information%20is%20conveyed%20through%20visuals,%20audio,%20and%20explanations,%20often%20accompanied%20by%20emotionally%20charged%20music,%20compelling%20the%20viewer%20to%20store%20what%20they%20see,%20hear,%20and%20read.%C2%A0%20This%20constant%20storage,%20combined%20with%20the%20rapid%20flow%20of%20information,%20is%20a%20deliberate%20attempt%20to%20embed%20messages%20in%20the%20human%20mind,%20and%20the%20impact%20begins%20directly%20and%20involuntarily.%C2%A0%20What%20makes%20matters%20worse%20is%20that%20we%20rarely%20hear%20joyful%20and%20positive%20news%20that%20contributes%20to%20optimism%20and%20raising%20morale.%20Instead,%20the%20majority%20of%20the%20information%20circulated%20is%20often%20personal,%20insignificant,%20if%20not%20absurd,%20or%20unconstructive.%20This%20includes%20the%20dissemination%20of%20news%20related%20to%20celebrities,%20deviants,%20or%20criminal%20activities.%20This%20kind%20of%20information%20is%20fleeting.%C2%A0%20Images%20provide%20fuel%20for%20the%20imagination,%20which%20extracts%20from%20them%20what%20feeds%20the%20passions%20and%20drives%20individuals%20towards%20sinful%20acts.%20Persistent%20thoughts%20triggered%20by%20emotions,%20awakened%20by%20images,%20lead%20individuals%20into%20sin.%C2%A0%20In%20our%20spiritual%20teachings%20concerning%20impure%20thoughts,%20we%20distinguish%20three%20levels.%20The%20first%20involves%20external%20attacks%20on%20our%20thoughts,%20where%20impure%20ideas%20seem%20to%20intrude%20from%20outside,%20for%20which%20we%20are%20not%20held%20responsible%20unless%20we%20intentionally%20invite%20these%20ideas%20into%20our%20minds.%20The%20second%20involves%20entertaining%20these%20impure%20thoughts%20or%20accepting%20their%20presence,%20marking%20the%20beginning%20of%20the%20path%20towards%20sinful%20acts.%20The%20third%20involves%20embracing%20these%20thoughts%20and%20committing%20the%20sin%20itself.%C2%A0%20The%20onslaught,%20joined%20with%20various%20other%20factors,%20incites%20the%20imagination%20to%20attract%20impure%20thoughts%20and%20delve%20into%20their%20details,%20starting%20from%20what%20has%20already%20accumulated%20in%20the%20mind.%C2%A0%20Living%20in%20this%20age%20of%20information%20consumption%20places%20new%20burdens%20on%20us%20as%20humans,%20subjecting%20us%20to%20a%20different%20form%20of%20enslavement.%20After%20grappling%20with%20the%20accumulation%20of%20material%20possessions%20and%20market%20offerings,%20we%20are%20now%20burdened%20with%20something%20even%20more%20challenging,%20as%20information%20consumption%20enslaves%20our%20minds,%20alters%20our%20convictions,%20and%20takes%20root%20deep%20within%20our%20subconscious%20minds%20against%20our%20will.%20This%20makes%20falling%20into%20tribulations%20a%20matter%20that%20is%20constantly%20present%20and%20easy.%C2%A0%20Material%20consumption%20is%20relatively%20easy%20to%20manage%20since%20it%20exists%20outside%20of%20us,%20compared%20to%20information%20consumption.%20When%20we%20recognize%20material%20consumption%E2%80%99s%20dangers,%20we%20can%20discard%20it,%20rid%20our%20house%20of%20it,%20and%20distance%20ourselves%20from%20it.%20Your%20empty%20pocket,%20or%20your%20inability%20to%20buy%20a%20product%20due%20to%20financial%20struggles,%20aid%20in%20that%20struggle.%20However,%20managing%20information%20consumption,%20particularly%20images,%20necessitates%20a%20genuine%20spiritual,%20physical%20and%20intellectual%20battle%20to%20prevent%20it%20from%20gaining%20control.%20It%20requires%20God%E2%80%99s%20grace%20and%20time%20to%20cleanse%20our%20memory.%C2%A0%20We%20often%20waste%20time%20chasing%20the%20endless%20stream%20of%20information,%20most%20of%20which%20revolves%2 https://api.whatsapp.com/send?text=*The%20Lamp-stand%20of%20America*nEugene%20Rose%20was%20born%20into%20a%20typical%20middle-class%20American%20family%20in%20San%20Diego%20in%201934.%20Like%20many%20young%20Americans,%20the%20materialistic%20attitude%20of%20the%20society%20that%20surrounded%20him%20did%20not%20satisfy%20his%20soul%20and%20an%20intense%20hunger%20and%20quest%20for%20truth%20began%20to%20arise%20from%20somewhere%20deep%20inside%20of%20him.%20The%20gnawing%20question%20of%20%E2%80%9Cwhat%20is%20truth?%E2%80%9D%20began%20to%20completely%20consume%20him%20around%20the%20time%20that%20he%20graduated%20from%20high%20school.%20For%20the%20rest%20of%20his%20life,%20Eugene%20sought%20truth%20at%20all%20costs.%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0He%20rejected%20the%20%E2%80%9CChristianity%E2%80%9D%20of%20America,%20which%20he%20regarded%20as%20worldly,%20weak,%20and%20fake.%20To%20him,%20it%20seemed%20that%20this%20modern%20Christianity%20put%20God%20in%20a%20box%20and%20was%20not%20otherworldly;%20it%20seemed%20to%20be%20very%20much%20at%20home%20in%20this%20world%20that%20Eugene%20wanted%20nothing%20to%20do%20with.%20His%20zeal%20turned%20him%20to%20the%20writings%20of%20the%20mad%20prophet%20and%20German%20philosopher%20Friedrich%20Nietzsche%20and%20he%20poured%20over%20his%20works%20until%20his%20words%20began%20to%20resonate%20in%20his%20soul%20with%20infernal%20power.%20The%20nihilism%20Nietzsche%20preached%20made%20sense%20to%20him%20in%20a%20collapsing%20godless%20world,%20however%20he%20then%20fell%20into%20total%20despair%20which%20he%20described%20in%20later%20years%20as%20a%20living%20hell.%20He%20felt%20that%20he%20didn%E2%80%99t%20fit%20into%20the%20modern%20world,%20or%20even%20into%20his%20own%20family,%20and%20that%20nobody%20understood%20him.%20It%20was%20as%20if%20he%20was%20somehow%20born%20in%20the%20wrong%20place%20and%20time.%20He%20loved%20to%20roam%20under%20the%20stars%20in%20the%20mountains%20of%20California,%20but%20believing%20Nietzsche%E2%80%99s%20lie%20he%20also%20felt%20completely%20isolated,%20alone,%20and%20without%20purpose.%20Alcohol%20became%20his%20%E2%80%9Ccure%E2%80%9D%20and%20he%20began%20to%20follow%20in%20the%20footsteps%20of%20a%20man%20he%20once%20met,%20Jack%20Kerouac,%20one%20of%20the%20founders%20of%20the%20%E2%80%9Cbeat%20generation.%E2%80%9D%20Eugene%20would%20get%20totally%20drunk%20and%20would%20fall%20on%20the%20floor%20consumed%20with%20rage,%20screaming%20at%20God%20to%20leave%20him%20alone.%20Once%20while%20drunk%20on%20the%20top%20of%20a%20mountain%20he%20raised%20his%20fist%20to%20heaven,%20cursed%20God,%20and%20dared%20Him%20to%20damn%20him%20to%20hell.%20In%20his%20despair,%20it%20seemed%20worth%20being%20damned%20forever,%20if%20only%20he%20could%20know%20that%20God%20exists,%20rather%20than%20remain%20in%20a%20state%20of%20indifference.%20If%20God%20did%20damn%20him%20to%20hell,%20at%20least%20then%20he%20would,%20for%20that%20blissful%20moment,%20feel%20God%E2%80%99s%20touch%20and%20know%20for%20sure%20that%20He%20was%20reachable.%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0In%20later%20years%20he%20wrote:%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0Atheism,%20true%20%E2%80%98existential%E2%80%99%20atheism,%20burning%20with%20hatred%20of%20a%20seemingly%20unjust%20or%20unmerciful%20God,%20is%20a%20spiritual%20state;%20it%20is%20a%20real%20attempt%20to%20grapple%20with%20the%20true%20God%20whose%20ways%20are%20so%20inexplicable%20even%20to%20the%20most%20believing%20of%20men,%20and%20it%20has%20more%20than%20once%20been%20known%20to%20end%20in%20a%20blinding%20vision%20of%20Him%20Whom%20the%20real%20atheist%20truly%20seeks.%20It%20is%20Christ%20who%20works%20in%20these%20souls.%20The%20Antichrist%20is%20not%20to%20be%20found%20in%20the%20great%20deniers,%20but%20in%20the%20small%20affirmers,%20whose%20Christ%20is%20only%20on%20the%20lips.%20Nietzsche,%20in%20calling%20himself%20antichrist,%20proved%20thereby%20his%20intense%20hunger%20for%20Christ%E2%80%A6%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0After%20graduating%20from%20Pomona%20College%20in%20Southern%20California,%20Eugene%20started%20studying%20under%20one%20of%20the%2050%E2%80%99s%20and%2060%E2%80%99s%20counter-culture%20founders,%20Alan%20Watts,%20and%20became%20a%20Buddhist%20%E2%80%9Cbohemian%E2%80%9D%20in%20San%20Francisco.%20He%20devoted%20himself%20to%20this%20self-proclaimed%20guru%20hoping%20to%20satisfy%20his%20intense%20pain%20and%20hunger%20for%20truth.%20However,%20it%20became%20increasingly%20apparent%20to%20him%20that%20Watts%20was%20a%20fraud.%20This%20self-proclaimed%20guru%20was%20using%20watered%20down%20teachings%20to%20fuel%20his%20appetite%20for%20material%20pleasure%20and%20luxury.%20For%20Eugene%20this%20was%20another%20proof%20of%20the%20counterfeit%20Americana%20he%20grew%20up%20despising;%20another%20plastic%20religion%20that%20was%20subjected%20to%20material%20culture.%20He%20then%20began%20to%20pursue%20more%20traditional%20Eastern%20religions%20and%20became%20fluent%20in%20Chinese%20in%20order%20to%20study%20the%C2%A0Tao%20Teh%20Ching%C2%A0and%20other%20ancient%20Eastern%20texts%20in%20their%20original%20language,%20hoping%20to%20tap%20into%20the%20heart%20of%20their%20wisdom%20and%20discover%20something%20he%20was%20missing.%20However,%20he%20again%20stared%20into%20the%20dark%20chasm%20of%20nothingness%20and%20felt%20the%20void%20of%20Buddhism%E2%80%99s%20impersonal%20sea%20of%20emptiness.%20The%20pain%20and%20struggle%20he%20felt%20lead%20him%20deeper%20into%20a%20search%20through%20various%20philosophers,%20sages,%20and%20cults%20of%20his%20time.%20Eugene%20had%20been%20seeking%20the%20truth%20with%20all%20his%20mind,%20but%20it%20constantly%20eluded%20him.%20Since%20his%20soul%20could%20not%20be%20satisfied%20he%20satisfied%20his%20flesh%20all%20the%20more%20and%20spent%20life%20living%20as%20extravagant%20as%20possible.%20He%20continued%20walking%20the%20streets%20of%20San%20Francisco%20drunk,%20yelling%20and%20cursing%20at%20God%20to%20leave%20him%20alone.%20Under%20the%20influence%20of%20the%20philosopher%20Rene%20Guenon,%20Eugene%20began%20to%20view%20the%20world%20not%20in%20a%20constant%20state%20of%20evolution,%20going%20from%20the%20primitive%20ancient%20man%20to%20the%20sophisticated%20modern%20man,%20but%20in%20a%20movement%20toward%20deterioration%20and%20regression.%20Particularly%20in%20the%20arena%20of%20religion,%20Guenon%20hypothesized%20that%20the%20most%20primitive%20forms%20were%20the%20most%20authentic%20and%20sophisticated%20while%20modern%20religions%20had%20lost%20their%20authenticity.%20This%20spoke%20to%20Eugene%20and%20planted%20in%20him%20an%20admiration%20for%20ancient%20customs%20and%20traditions.%20However,%20he%20treated%20this%20pursuit%20academically%20and%20as%20if%20he%20was%20in%20a%20cafeteria%20of%20various%20religious%20beliefs%20that%20afforded%20him%20the%20luxury%20of%20taking%20a%20little%20of%20one%20here%20and%20another%20there.%20In%20this%20search%20of%20%E2%80%9Ccollecting%E2%80%9D%20various%20ancient%20religious%20traditions,%20Eugene%20was%20invited%20to%20visit%20an%20Eastern%20Orthodox%20Christian%20church.%20Later%20he%20wrote%20about%20his%20experience:%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0For%20years%20in%20my%20studies%20I%20was%20satisfied%20with%20being%20%E2%80%9Cabove%20all%20traditions%E2%80%9D%20but%20somehow%20faithful%20to%20them%20.%20.%20.%20When%20I%20visited%20an%20Orthodox%20church%20for%20the%20first%20time,%20something%20happened%20to%20me%20that%20I%20had%20not%20experienced%20in%20any%20Buddhist%20or%20other%20Eastern%20temple;%20something%20in%20my%20heart%20said%20that%20I%20was%20home;%20that%20my%20search%20was%20over.%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20really%20know%20what%20this%20meant%20.%20.%20.%20With%20my%20exposure%20to%20Orthodoxy%20and%20to%20Orthodox%20people,%20a%20new%20idea%20began%20to%20enter%20my%20awareness:%20that%20truth%20was%20not%20just%20an%20abstract%20idea,%20sought%20and%20known%20by%20the%20mind,%20but%20was%20something%20personal%E2%80%93even%20a%20Person,%20sought%20and%20loved%20by%20the%20heart.%20And%20that%20is%20how%20I%20met%20Christ.%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0Eugene%20began%20to%20pour%20himself%20into%20this%20new%20tradition%20that%20was%20the%20answer%20to%20his%20life%20of%20searching.%20At%20his%20time%20it%20was%20rare%20to%20hear%20Orthodox%20services%20in%20English,%20so%20he%20learned%20Slavonic%20to%20begin%20to%20understand%20and%20read%20what%20was%20happening%20around%20him%20in%20the%20services.%20The%20lives%20of%20the%20Saints%20and%20the%20hymns%20that%20were%20entirely%20otherworldly%20and%20uncompromising%20struck%20him%20and%20began%20to%20transform%20his%20soul.%20They%20despised%20the%20modern%20world%20and%20like%20him%20wanted%20nothing%20from%20it,%20but%20their%20rebellion%20against%20the%20world%20was%20more%20profound%20than%20his%20ever%20had%20been.%20These%20saints%20lived%20in%20the%20world,%20but%20through%20an%20intense%20inner%20spiritual%20struggle%20rooted%20in%20the%20depths%20of%20the%20heart,%20they%20lived%20not%20for%20this%20world.%20They%20discovered%20the%20Kingdom%20of%20Heaven%20within%20and%20no%20matter%20what%20allurements%20the%20world%20offered%20they%20held%20on%20to%20their%20treasure%20even%20to%20the%20shedding%20of%20blood.%20This%20was%20solidified%20for%20Eugene%20when%20he%20met%20the%20person%20of%20St%20John%20of%20San%20Francisco.%20This%20saint,%20living%20amidst%20of%20hustle%20and%20bustle%20of%20San%20Francisco,%20embodied%20the%20saints%20of%20old%20and%20made%20it%20clear%20to%20Eugene%20that%20Orthodox%20Christianity%20was%20not%20some%20museum%20of%20ancient%20traditions%20but%20a%20living%20breathing%20reality%20that%20transported%20men%20and%20women%20to%20heaven.%20St%20John%20was%20a%20severe%20ascetic,%20meaning%20he%20lived%20a%20life%20of%20complete%20self-denial%20in%20order%20to%20obtain%20a%20pure%20heart%20and%20transformed%20soul%20in%20the%20midst%20of%20a%20decaying%20world.%20This%20attracted%20Eugene%20because%20he%20desired%20an%20ascetic%20faith%20that%20didn%E2%80%99t%20seek%20earthly%20desires%20and%20comforts,%20but%20rather%20redemption%20through%20intense%20struggle%20and%20sufferings%20on%20earth.%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0In%20his%20journal%20he%20later%20wrote:%C2%A0Let%20us%20not,%20who%20would%20be%20Christians,%20expect%20anything%20else%20from%20it%20than%20to%20be%20crucified.%20And%20we%20must%20be%20crucified%20outwardly,%20in%20the%20eyes%20of%20the%20world;%20for%20Christ%E2%80%99s%20Kingdom%20is%20not%20of%20this%20world,%20and%20the%20world%20cannot%20bear%20it,%20even%20for%20a%20single%20moment.%20The%20world%20can%20only%20accept%20antichrist,%20now%20or%20at%20any%20time.%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0Before%20he%20had%20found%20the%20truth%20he%20suffered%20for%20the%20lack%20of%20it%20but%20now%20having%20found%20it,%20he%20suffered%20for%20the%20sake%20of%20it.%20He%20devoted%20the%20rest%20of%20his%20life%20to%20living%20this%20truth%20and%20taking%20up%20intense%20ascetic%20struggle%20to%20give%20it%20to%20others.%20The%20ancient%20spiritual%20texts%20he%20began%20to%20read%20not%20only%20inspired%20him%20in%20this%20new%20life,%20but%20also%20caused%20a%20deep%20pain%20in%20his%20heart%20because%20they%20were%20unavailable%20to%20his%20fellow%20countrymen%20who%20suffered%20for%20lack%20of%20truth.%20Through%20the%20blessing%20and%20encouragement%20of%20St%20John,%20Eugene%20began%20a%20brotherhood%20with%20other%20young%20men%20who%20took%20up%20the%20cause%20to%20translate%20these%20texts%20into%20English.%20They%20named%20their%20brotherhood%20after%20Saint%20Herman%20of%20Alaska,%20a%20desert%20dwelling%20Russian%20monk%20who%20traveled%20across%20Siberia%20to%20give%20the%20Gospel%20to%20natives%20in%20Alaska.%20Together%20the%20brotherhood%20opened%20a%20bookstore%20and%20began%20translating%20and%20printing%20on%20an%20old%20hand-operated%20printing%20press.%20They%20had%20to%20arrange%20each%20word%20by%20hand%20in%20frames,%20roll%20ink,%20and%20press%20each%20page%20with%20a%20crank%20by%20hand.%20They%20drew%20their%20inspiration%20to%20continue%20their%20selfless%20work%20from%20the%20lives%20of%20the%20saints%20such%20as%20Saint%20Anthony%20of%20Egypt,%20Saints%20Paisius,%20Xenia,%20and%20even%20their%20contemporary%20Saint%20Archbishop%20John.%20Eugene%20slaved%20over%20this%20work%20and%20these%20spiritually%20rich%20texts%20began%20to%20be%20available%20to%20Americans%20for%20the%20first%20time%20in%20history.%20Every%20page%20solidified%20in%20Eugene%20the%20world%E2%80%99s%20repulsiveness%20and%20all%20its%20charm%20and%20enticements%20fell%20away.%20He%20refused%20to%20take%20part%20in%20the%20world%E2%80%99s%20activities%20and%20instead%20devote%20his%20sweat%20and%20blood%20to%20this%20great%20commission.%C2%A0%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0Translating%20the%20lives%20of%20monastic%20saints%20who%20lived%20in%20the%20wilderness%20of%20Russia%20set%20Eugene%E2%80%99s%20heart%20ablaze%20for%20a%20solitary%20life.%20Like%20him,%20these%20saints%20felt%20that%20this%20world%20was%20not%20their%20home%20and%20had%20abandoned%20wealth,%20luxury,%20status,%20kingdoms,%20and%20parents%20to%20cultivate%20their%20hearts%20in%20solitude%20and%20obtain%20the%20Heavenly%20Kingdom.%20After%20the%20death%20of%20Saint%20John,%20the%20hunger%20for%20monastic%20life%20grew%20in%20Eugene%20all%20the%20more.%20Furthermore,%20this%20world%20and%20its%20collapsing%20society%20seemed%20so%20vain%20and%20fleeting%20standing%20before%20the%20coffin%20of%20this%20Saint%20who%20gave%20everything%20to%20live%20apart%20from%20it.%20Increasingly%20sick%20to%20death%20of%20the%20city%20and%20the%20world,%20Eugene%20and%20another%20friend%20in%20the%20brotherhood,%20Gleb,%20bought%20some%20land%20in%20the%20wilderness%20of%20northern%20California%20near%20the%20town%20of%20Platina,%20and%20moved%20their%20printing%20operation%20there.%20They%20began%20to%20live%20like%20the%20desert%20dwellers%20of%20ancient%20times%20who%20they%20were%20writing%20about.%20There%20was%20no%20running%20water,%20no%20telephone,%20and%20no%20electric%20lines.%20They%20built%20the%20buildings%20themselves%20from%20wood%20taken%20from%20abandoned%20mining%20shacks%20and%20lived%20with%20bears,%20scorpions,%20and%20rattlesnakes.%20%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0%C2%A0In%201970%20the%20two%20friends%20were%20officially%20made%20Orthodox%20monks,%20thus%20dying%20forever%20to%20the%20world.%20To%20signify%20this%20death%20to%20the%20world,%20the%20two%20brothers%20were%20given%20new%20monasti pnotic%20tyrant.%20It%20is%20calling%20from%20its%20sleep%20and%20terrifying%20you%20for%20something%20more%20than%20the%20materialistic%20plasticity%20that%20has%20made%20you%20an%20artificial%20being%20with%20an%20elusive%20existence.%20The%20beginning%20of%20wakefulness,%20to%20rub%20off%20the%20dust%20of%20the%20sandman,%20is%20to%20embrace%20the%20nightmare%20that%20the%20soul%20is%20living.%20It%20is%20only%20in%20recognition%20of%20our%20own%20wretched,%20hypnotized,%20and%20possessed%20state%20that%20one%20awakes%20to%20the%20reality%20that%20he%20is%20overtaken%20and%20caged.%20It%20is%20recognizing%20that%20the%20world,%20which%20craves%20to%20be%20our%20master,%20has%20only%20given%20us%20empty%20promises,%20darkness,%20and%20deceit.%20It%20urges%20us%20to%20consume,%20conform,%20live%20for%20pleasure,%20dull%20the%20mind,%20make%20fat%20the%20body,%20and%20stay%20asleep.%20To%20fill%20ourselves%20with%20knowledge%20and%20data,%20but%20remain%20unwise%20and%20unaware%20of%20the%20seriousness%20our%20condition%20and%20captivity.%20We%20are%20even%20tricked%20to%20believing%20that%20we%20are%20self-sufficient,%20autonomous,%20and%20know%20what%20is%20best%20for%20ourselves.%20However,%20we%20see%20the%20world%20pump%20out%20medicine%20after%20medicine%20and%20program%20after%20program%20to%20secure%20the%20blindfold%20of%20our%20spiritual%20problem%20even%20tighter%20with%20belief%20in%20%E2%80%9Cthe%20universe,%E2%80%9D%20%E2%80%9Cself-happiness,%E2%80%9D%20and%20other%20impersonal%20gods%20that%20make%20no%20demands%20on%20the%20soul.%20All%20this,%20of%20course,%20distracts%20from%20the%20reality%20of%20our%20state%20of%20illusion%20and%20unreality.%20A%20great%20ascetic%20of%20the%20fourth%20century,%20Saint%20Basil%20the%20Great,%20wrote%20of%20our%20plight,%20saying%20%E2%80%9Cwe%20are%20without%20understanding,%20we%20do%20not%20scrutinize%20our%20own%20structure;%20we%20are%20ignorant%20of%20what%20we%20are%20and%20why%20we%20are.%20For%20we%20are%20settled%20in%20the%20greatest%20indifference%20to%20ourselves,%20not%20possessing%20things%20within%20reach%20of%20our%20knowledge,%20a%20knowledge%20of%20the%20smallest%20aspects%20of%20what%20is%20in%20us.%E2%80%9D%20The%20concerted%20effort%20of%20the%20world%20has%20been%20to%20ignore%20an%20inner%20state%20that%20is%20being%20corrupted%20and%20to%20put%20all%20focus%20on%20the%20nightmarish%20dreamworld%20we%20have%20created%20thinking%20that%20each%20bandaid%20(a%20new%20president,%20economic%20structure,%20social%20policy,%20etc.)%20will%20be%20the%20solution%20to%20the%20tyranny%20we%20face.%20However,%20the%20recognition%20of%20our%20true%20inner%20state%20and%20heeding%20to%20the%20terror%20cries%20of%20the%20sleeping%20soul%20brings%20forth%20a%20thirst%20for%20light%20and%20the%20ability%20to%20shake%20off%20the%20hypnosis%20that%20captivates%20us.%20If%20we%20look%20within,%20we%20see%20a%20vast%20world%20that%20has%20been%20purposely%20ignored.%20The%20same%20ascetic%20above%20wrote,%20%E2%80%9CDo%20not%20despise%20the%20wonder%20that%20is%20in%20you.%20For%20you%20are%20small%20in%20your%20own%20reckoning,%20but%20the%20Word%20will%20disclose%20that%20you%20are%20very%20great.%20Because%20of%20this%20wise%20David,%20seeing%20himself%20exactly,%20says%20%E2%80%98Wonderful%20is%20your%20knowledge%20from%20me%E2%80%99(Ps%20138:6),%20I%20have%20discovered%20wonder%20in%20knowledge%20concerning%20you%E2%80%A6%20From%20this%20small%20work%20of%20construction,%20I%20understand%20the%20great%20Fashioner.%E2%80%9D%20Within%20each%20person%20is%20a%20cosmos,%20a%20reflection%20or%20an%20icon%20of%20the%20entire%20creation%20itself%20and%20its%20Fashioner.%20Mankind%20was%20not%20created%20for%20nightmares,%20feverish%20sleep,%20and%20hypnotic%20captivity.%20However,%20the%20terror%20of%20our%20hypnosis%20is%20that%20we%20have%20come%20to%20believe%20that%20how%20we%20live%20in%20this%20nightmare%20is%20who%20we%20are%20or%20created%20to%20be,%20but%20%E2%80%9CTo%20do%20evil%20is%20to%20depart%20from%20the%20good%20way,%20to%20contradict%20one%E2%80%99s%20true%20intention,%20one%E2%80%99s%20nature,%20one%E2%80%99s%20purpose,%20one%E2%80%99s%20origin,%20one%E2%80%99s%20goal,%20one%E2%80%99s%20definition,%20one%E2%80%99s%20will,%20and%20finally%20one%E2%80%99s%20very%20essence,%E2%80%9D%20says%20Saint%20Dionysios.%20And%20as%20the%20great%20sufferer%20for%20truth,%20Saint%20Maximus,%20states,%20%E2%80%9CEvil%20is%20not%20found%20in%20the%20essence%20of%20creatures,%20but%20in%20their%20false%20and%20irrational%20movement.%20One%20could%20say%20that%20evil%20is%20nothing%20but%20the%20failure%20to%20direct%20to%20their%20end%20the%20faculties%20placed%20in%20human%20nature.%20What%20is%20more,%20evil%20is%20an%20irrational%20movement%20of%20the%20natural%20faculties,%20leading%20them%20according%20to%20an%20erroneous%20judgment%20to%20something%20other%20than%20their%20true%20end.%20I%20understand%20by%20%E2%80%9Cend%E2%80%9D%20the%20Author%20of%20all%20creation%20towards%20whom%20all%20beings%20strive%20in%20virtue%20of%20their%20very%20nature.%E2%80%9D%20That%20is,%20we%20have%20taken%20the%20nature%20we%20were%20created%20with,%20a%20nature%20that%20is%20created%20for%20transfiguration%20and%20inclined%20towards%20virtue,%20and%20have%20perverted%20it%20towards%20self-pleasure.%20We%20have%20taken%20the%20spiritual%20powers%20and%20directed%20them%20from%20an%20inner%20life%20to%20a%20life%20of%20pleasure.%20We%20have%20lived%20in%20rebellion%20to%20our%20very%20essence%20and%20have%20traded%20spiritual%20rationality%20for%20sensuality.%20This%20sensuality%20truly%20carries%20out%20the%20characteristics%20of%20Hypnos,%20for%20it%20comes%20to%20us%20kind,%20gentle,%20and%20seemingly%20compassionate%20but%20lures%20us%20to%20forgetfulness%20of%20our%20purpose%20and%20causes%20the%20soul%20to%20dwell%20with%20death%20while%20the%20body%20lives%20and%20plays%20in%20hypnotic%20dance.%20This%20causes%20man%20to%20lead%20%E2%80%9Clife%20in%20opposition%20to%20reason,%20enslaved%20to%20sensations%20in%20opposition%20to%20his%20dignity%E2%80%A6%20and%20for%20having%20lost%20the%20natural%20activity%20of%20his%20intellect,%20he%20is%20likened%20unto%20beings%20without%20reason%20by%20his%20behavior,%20for%20reason%20is%20dead%20in%20him,%20and%20the%20least%20rational%20part%20of%20the%20soul%20has%20borne%20it%20away%20through%20his%20behavior,%E2%80%9D%20says%20Saint%20Niketas%20Stethatos.%20That%20is,%20when%20sensations%20are%20traded%20for%20spiritual%20dignity,%20we%20become%20like%20brute%20beasts%20without%20reason%20and%20live%20in%20opposition%20to%20ourselves%20resulting%20in%20so%20many%20spiritual%20ills%20we%20see%20today.%20Since%20pleasure%20and%20sensuality%20reigns%20supreme,%20spiritual%20death%20reigns%20our%20existence,%20for%20%E2%80%9CDeceived%20at%20the%20beginning%20by%20the%20illusion%20of%20pleasure,%20we%20preferred%20death%20to%20life%E2%80%A6%20for%20pleasure%20is%20the%20mother%20of%20death,%E2%80%9D%20says%20Saint%20Maximus.%20The%20Saint%20continues,%20%E2%80%9Cthe%20sorrow%20of%20the%20soul%20is%20the%20end%20of%20pleasure%20of%20the%20senses.%20For%20the%20soul%E2%80%99s%20sorrow%20is%20elicited%20by%20this%20pleasure.%E2%80%9D%20The%20reason%20that%20this%20sorrow%20captivates%20and%20haunts%20a%20man%20given%20to%20pleasure%20is%20because%20the%20passions%20can%20never%20fulfill%20the%20heart%E2%80%99s%20capacity%20for%20desire,%20for%20the%20human%20heart%20was%20created%20in%20function%20of%20Christ,%20as%20a%20large%20box,%20vast%20enough%20to%20contain%20God%20himself,%20says%20St%20Nicholas%20Cabasilas.%20So,%20following%20the%20ancient%20devices%20of%20rebellion%20against%20this%20hypnotic%20world%20and%20the%20heart%E2%80%99s%20sorrow,%20the%20soul%20must%20be%20awakened%20through%20the%20casting%20off%20of%20sensual%20worldly%20pleasure%20that%20has%20become%20its%20tyrant.%20However,%20without%20the%20help%20of%20the%20Knower%20of%20Hearts,%20and%20the%20Caller%20of%20Souls,%20we%20will%20continue%20to%20flail%20in%20a%20dreamworld.%20For%20one%20who%20is%20in%20a%20trance,%20seduced%20under%20a%20spell,%20or%20stuck%20in%20a%20nightmare%20has%20need%20of%20a%20Savior%20to%20wake%20and%20alert%20him.%20The%20Apostle%20writes%20to%20the%20Romans,%20%E2%80%9CWhile%20we%20were%20still%20weak,%20at%20the%20right%20time%20Christ%20died%20for%20the%20ungodly.%20Why,%20one%20will%20hardly%20die%20for%20a%20righteous%20man%E2%80%94though%20perhaps%20for%20a%20good%20man%20one%20will%20dare%20even%20to%20die.%20But%20God%20shows%20his%20love%20for%20us%20in%20that%20while%20we%20were%20yet%20sinners%20Christ%20died%20for%20us.%E2%80%9D%20That%20is,%20in%20our%20captivity%20to%20hypnosis%20and%20death,%20blood%20was%20shed%20for%20our%20freedom%20from%20our%20nightmare.%20A%20New%20Man%E2%80%94the%20God%20Man%E2%80%94entered%20into%20our%20depravity,%20into%20the%20most%20horrifying%20aspects%20our%20nightmare%20has%20to%20offer%20in%20order%20to%20rouse%20souls%20from%20sleep%20and%20lift%20them%20back%20to%20the%20reality%20of%20spiritual%20dignity.%20It%20is%20with%20the%20might%20of%20this%20war-victory%20that%20men%20and%20women%20throughout%20the%20ages%20have%20reaped%20freedom%20through%20its%20spoils.%20For%20Christ,%20%E2%80%9Cdid%20bind%20the%20strong%20man%20%5Bthe%20devil%5D,%20and%20spoiled%20his%20goods,%20and%20abolished%20death,%20vivifying%20%5Bmankind%5D%20who%20had%20been%20in%20a%20state%20of%20death,%E2%80%9D%20says%20Saint%20Irenaeus.%20He%20continues,%20%E2%80%9Cwherefore%20he%20%5Bthe%20devil%5D%20who%20had%20led%20man%20captive,%20was%20justly%20captured%20in%20his%20turn%20by%20God;%20but%20man,%20who%20had%20been%20led%20captive,%20was%20loosed%20from%20the%20bonds%20of%20condemnation.%E2%80%9D%20%C2%A0For,%20it%20is%20in%20Christ%20that%20the%20captors%20of%20the%20soul%20are%20put%20off,%20fought,%20loosed,%20and%20bound.%20The%20complete%20and%20perfect%20God-man%20can%20only%20give%20th n%20Plato%E2%80%99s%20Cave,%20modern%20man%20stares%20dumbfounded%20at%20movement%20without%20meaning.%20Sensing%20not%20his%20larger%20surroundings%20and%20having%20lost%20his%20peripheral%20vision,%20he%20gazes%20upon%20the%20temporal,%20fleeting%20world%20(or%20worse,%20the%20parade%20of%20simulacra%20found%20within%20the%20fleeting%20world)%20as%20if%20it%20were%20the%20sole%20criterion%20of%20being.%20He%20figures%20that%20what%20stretches%20across%20his%20eyes%E2%80%94not%20what%20lay%20behind%20his%20eyes%20or%20may%20be%20seen%20in%20the%20eyes%20of%20others%E2%80%94must%20be%20the%20fullness%20of%20reality.%20He%20opens%20his%20eyes%20to%20a%20fantasy%20world%20and%20closes%20his%20eyes%20to%20the%20divine,%20immortal%20world,%20rendered%20imperceptible%20by%20his%20sensuality.%20He%20invests%20fully%20in%20sensation%20and%20neglects%20his%20unseen%20(yet%20no%20less%20real)%20spiritual%20composition,%20electing%20to%20live%20in%20a%20truly%20chaotic%20and%20schizophrenic%20state.%20Thus,%20man%20runs%20from%20phantom%20to%20phantom,%20convinced%20each%20ghost%20will%20lead%20him%20closer%20to%20reality.%20%E2%80%9CJust%20as%20those%20who%20are%20in%20darkness%20are%20unaware%20of%20the%20nature%20of%20things,%E2%80%9D%20says%20St.%20John%20Chrysostom%20(4th%20c.),%20%E2%80%9Cso%20too%20do%20those%20who%20live%20in%20sin%C2%A0%20%5Bfail%20to%5D%20distinguish%20between%20things;%20they%20run%20towards%20shadows%20as%20towards%20reality.%E2%80%9D%C2%A0%20True%20reality%20and%20true%20humanity%20are%20not%20found%20in%20armchair%20luxury,%20which%20leads%20to%20inactivity;%20nor%20in%20the%20gain%20of%20wealth,%20which%20leads%20to%20want%20of%20more;%20nor%20in%20politicians%E2%80%99%20lawless%20lawmaking,%20which%20leads%20to%20indoctrination;%20nor%20in%20sensual%20pleasure,%20which%20leads%20to%20brokenness;%20rather,%20true%20reality%20and%20true%20humanity%20are%20found%20in%20rejecting%20today%E2%80%99s%20materialism%20and%20accepting%20one%E2%80%99s%20divine%20calling%20as%20a%20being%20fashioned%20in%20the%20likeness%20of%20Christ.%20If%20men%20continue%20to%20void%20themselves%20%E2%80%9Cof%20the%20thought%20of%20God,%E2%80%9D%20they%20will%20%E2%80%9Cbecome%20forever%20deprived%20of%20being,%E2%80%9D%20to%20quote%20St.%20Athanasius%20(3rd%20c.).%20He%20who%20rejects%20God%20rejects%20himself%20and%20accepts%20a%20terrible%20nothingness%20unbecoming%20of%20his%20station,%20as%20man%20was%20created%20specifically%20for%20a%20divine%20purpose,%20i.e.%20to%20dwell%20with%20God%20and%20become%20like%20Him.%20Now,%20modern%20man%20is%20willing%20not%20only%20to%20trade%20this%20divine%20calling%20for%20enslavement%20to%20the%20world;%20worse%20yet,%20he%20is%20willing%20to%20trade%20it%20for%20enslavement%20to%20a%20simulated%20world%20within%20the%20world.%20To%20cure%20his%20great%20madness,%20modern%20man%20must%20reject%20this%20world%20and%20the%20passions%20of%20the%20flesh,%20which%20tie%20him%20to%20it.%20He%20must%20remove%20his%20blindfold,%20readjust%20his%20eyes%20in%20spiritual%20discipline,%20and%20scorn%20what%20previously%20%E2%80%9Centertained%E2%80%9D%20him%20while%20asleep.%20Assessing%20man%E2%80%99s%20capacity%20for%20desire,%20St.%20Maximus%20the%20Confessor%20writes,%20%E2%80%9Cthe%20desiderative%20power,%20pure%20of%20the%20passion%20of%20self-love,%20must%20direct%20all%20its%20desire%20to%20God%20alone.%E2%80%9D%C2%A0%20The%20energy%20we%20use%20to%20pursue%20the%20vain,%20material%20things%20that%20assure%20our%20undoing%20must%20be%20redirected%20and%20aimed%20solely%20at%20Christ%20the%20God-Man.%20Resurrection%20lies%20in%20rebellion,%20not%20in%20the%20vain%20rebellion%20to%20which%20many%20have%20turned%20in%20pursuit%20of%20lying%20promises%20but%20in%20a%20just%20rebellion%20against%20the%20world%20and%20its%20temptations.%20The%20last%20true%20rebellion%20is%20a%20rebellion%20against%20that%20which%20obscures%20or%20disfigures%20one%E2%80%99s%20true%20nature,%20whose%20godliness%20may%20only%20be%20uncovered%20by%20shedding%20the%20shameful%20fantasies%20of%20the%20modern%20world%20and%20the%20virtual%20reality%20it%20offers.%20Reality%E2%80%94in%20its%20capaciousness%20as%20defined%20by%20the%20Church%20and%20her%20theanthropic%20saints%E2%80%94was%20never%20meant%20to%20be%20experienced%20virtually;%20the%20very%20term%20%E2%80%9Cvirtual%20reality%E2%80%9D%20denotes%20a%20remoteness%20and%20removal%20from%20reality%20per%20se.%20May%20God%20forbid%20it!%20Man%E2%80%99s%20escape%20is%20found%20not%20in%20escapism%20but%20in%20this%20rebellion:%20to%20be%20dead%20to%20the%20world%20and%20alive%20to%20God.%20%E2%80%9CIN%20REFUSING%20TO%20THINK%20OF%20THE%20GOOD,%20MEN%20BEGAN%20TO%20IMAGINE%20AND%20CONCEIVE%20OF%20THINGS%20THAT%20DO%20NOT%20EXIST.%E2%80%9D%20Saint%20Athanasius%20the%20Great%20-The%20Editors%20From%20Issue%2028nhttps://deathtotheworld.com/articles/chasing-the-phantom/

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?text=*Homily%20on%20the%20Exaltation%20of%20the%20Holy%20Cross*nby%20Geronda%20George%20Kapsanis%20of%20the%20Holy%20Monastery%20of%20Gregoriou,%20Mount%20Athos%20It%20is%20true%20that%20everything%20in%20the%20Church%20of%20Christ%20and%20in%20the%20life%20of%20Christians%20is%20sealed%20by%20the%20Cross%20of%20the%20Lord.%20There%20is%20nothing%20that%20happens%20in%20our%20Holy%20Church%20or%20in%20the%20life%20of%20the%20pious%20that%20is%20not%20sealed%20with%20the%20Honorable%20Cross%20of%20Christ.%20The%20Mystery%20of%20the%20Divine%20Eucharist%20is%20completed%20with%20the%20seal%20of%20the%20Honorable%20Cross.%20All%20the%20blessings%20of%20the%20priests%20of%20the%20Church%20are%20sealed%20with%20the%20Cross.%20The%20first%20mystery%20of%20salvation,%20Holy%20Baptism,%20is%20accomplished%20through%20the%20Honorable%20Cross.%20And%20in%20our%20daily%20lives,%20from%20the%20time%20we%20wake%20up%20to%20the%20time%20we%20lie%20down,%20and%20from%20the%20time%20we%20are%20born%20to%20the%20time%20we%20surrender%20our%20souls%20to%20God,%20and%20when%20others%20will%20surrender%20our%20perishable%20bodies%20to%20the%20grave,%20again%20the%20Cross%20seals%20them%20all.%20Of%20course,%20this%20is%20not%20accidental,%20nor%20is%20it%20done%20simply%20to%20have%20some%20divine%20power%20or%20some%20divine%20protection%20or%20some%20divine%20blessing.%20Of%20course,%20this%20is%20possible,%20but%20if%20we%20look%20deeper%20into%20things,%20we%20will%20see%20that%20the%20Cross%20is%20an%20inalienable%20companion%20of%20the%20life%20of%20the%20Christian%20and%20the%20life%20of%20the%20Church.%20Because%20the%20Cross%20is%20the%20essence%20of%20the%20Orthodox%20faith%20and%20the%20Christian%20life.%20Whether%20we%20say%20%E2%80%9Clife%20in%20Christ%E2%80%9D%20or%20%E2%80%9Clife%20in%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%E2%80%9D,%20we%20say%20the%20same%20thing.%20The%20work%20of%20Christ%20has%20no%20meaning%20without%20His%20Cross.%20The%20life%20of%20a%20Christian%20has%20no%20meaning%20without%20their%20participation%20in%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ.%20That%20is%20why%20everything%20a%20Christian%20does,%20if%20they%20do%20it%20in%20the%20spirit%20of%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ,%20is%20Christian.%20Whatever%20they%20do%20not%20do%20in%20the%20spirit%20of%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ,%20is%20carnal,%20is%20egotistical,%20is%20selfish,%20is%20anti-God,%20is%20outside%20the%20Grace%20of%20God.%20So%20there%20are%20two%20ways%20of%20life,%20the%20non-crucifixion%20way%20and%20the%20crucifixion%20way.%20And%20the%20non-crucifixion%20way%20is%20the%20way%20of%20egoism,%20it%20is%20the%20way%20of%20the%20secular,%20it%20is%20the%20way%20of%20anthropocentrism,%20it%20is%20the%20way%20in%20which%20man%20lives%20with%20himself%20and%20not%20with%20God%20and%20his%20brethren.%20While%20the%20way%20of%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%20is%20the%20way%20in%20which%20man%20tries%20to%20overcome%20the%20carnal%20mind,%20to%20defeat%20the%20old%20man,%20to%20overcome%20his%20selfishness%20and%20to%20live%20as%20one%20offered%20to%20God%20and%20offered%20to%20his%20brethren.%20If%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%20has%20so%20much%20power%20and%20the%20crucifixion%20death%20of%20Christ%20has%20so%20much%20power,%20it%20has%20it%20because%20on%20His%20Cross%20Christ%20restored%20man%20to%20his%20true%20trajectory%20and%20nature.%20He%20corrected%20through%20His%20perfect%20obedience,%20to%20the%20point%20of%20the%20Cross%20and%20death,%20the%20disobedience%20of%20Adam,%20the%20rebellion%20of%20Adam,%20by%20which%20man%20was%20separated%20from%20God.%20The%20whole%20tragedy%20of%20man%20was%20sin,%20the%20egoism%20of%20Adam,%20which%20separated%20him%20from%20God.%20All%20the%20correction%20of%20this%20great%20tragedy%20of%20Adam%20was%20made%20by%20the%20ineffable%20kenosis%20of%20the%20Son%20of%20God,%20the%20culmination%20of%20which%20was%20His%20Cross.%20And%20because%20on%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%20all%20the%20error%20of%20Adam%20and%20Eve%20and%20the%20people%20before%20Christ%20was%20corrected,%20that%20is%20why%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%20is%20a%20great%20victory%20of%20Christ%20against%20the%20devil%20and%20of%20sin%20and%20death.%20That%20is%20why%20the%20devil%20is%20so%20afraid%20of%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ,%20because%20on%20His%20Cross%20Christ%20overthrew%20all%20his%20work,%20all%20the%20machinations%20he%20had%20done,%20all%20the%20cunning%20he%20had%20done,%20all%20the%20methods%20he%20had%20done,%20by%20which%20were%20held%20captive%20the%20human%20race.%20But%20the%20Lord%20there%20on%20the%20Cross%20defeated%20him%20and%20destroyed%20him%20with%20His%20extreme%20humility%20and%20His%20perfect%20obedience%20to%20the%20holy%20will%20of%20God%20His%20Father.%20So%20we%20also%20see%20that%20as%20Christians%20we%20have%20no%20other%20way%20to%20live%20but%20the%20way%20of%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ.%20Sharing%20in,%20that%20is,%20every%20minute%20the%20humility%20of%20Christ,%20the%20sacrifice%20of%20Christ,%20the%20victory%20against%20our%20passions%20and%20our%20egoism%20and%20our%20own%20sick%20and%20sinful%20will.%20Every%20time%20we%20commit%20a%20sin,%20an%20egoism,%20a%20pride,%20a%20disobedience,%20and%20of%20the%20same%20will%20we%20accept%20a%20bad%20thought,%20every%20time%20we%20see%20the%20other%20person%20selfishly,%20carnally,%20we%20want%20to%20take%20advantage%20of%20him,%20in%20every%20such%20moment%20we%20betray%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%20and%20we%20cease%20to%20live%20in%20the%20way%20of%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%20and%20we%20live%20in%20the%20way%20of%20the%20old%20Adam,%20who%20is%20non-crucified%20and%20egocentric.%20But%20glory%20to%20God%20there%20is%20repentance%20for%20every%20time%20the%20devil%20leads%20us%20to%20think%20that%20our%20happiness%20is%20not%20to%20live%20in%20the%20way%20of%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%20but%20in%20the%20way%20of%20the%20old%20Adam.%20Glory%20to%20God%20that%20there%20is%20the%20great%20love%20of%20God,%20that%20which%20was%20revealed%20on%20the%20Cross,%20and%20we%20can%20with%20our%20repentance%20ask%20for%20the%20forgiveness%20of%20the%20Lord%20and%20immediately%20find%20the%20right%20way,%20to%20live%20our%20lives%20as%20being%20crucified%20again.%20You%20will%20have%20noticed,%20my%20brethren,%20that%20this%20is%20a%20common%20trick%20and%20a%20delusion%20of%20the%20devil.%20The%20devil%20usually%20leads%20us%20to%20think%20that%20our%20happiness%20is%20not%20to%20live%20as%20being%20crucified,%20not%20to%20see%20others%20as%20an%20image%20of%20God,%20as%20our%20brethren%20in%20Christ,%20but%20to%20see%20them%20selfishly,%20to%20see%20them%20carnally,%20to%20see%20them%20in%20a%20way%20in%20order%20to%20take%20advantage%20of%20them,%20to%20want%20to%20impose%20ourselves%20on%20the%20other%20and%20not%20to%20serve%20the%20other,%20as%20the%20Lord%20said:%20%E2%80%9CI%20came%20not%20to%20be%20served,%20but%20to%20serve.%E2%80%9D%20But%20then%20what%20do%20we%20see?%20And%20what%20do%20the%20people%20who%20have%20chosen%20this%20way%20of%20life%20see?%20We%20see%20that%20in%20the%20non-crucified%20way%20of%20life%20there%20is%20no%20true%20joy%20and%20happiness%20of%20man.%20Then%20the%20devil%20whistles%20in%20our%20ear.%20He%20says%20to%20us:%20%E2%80%9CWhy%20do%20you%20want%20to%20live%20as%20one%20crucified?%20If%20you%20live%20as%20one%20crucified,%20you%20will%20live%20backwards%20in%20your%20life,%20others%20will%20take%20advantage%20of%20you,%20they%20will%20make%20fun%20of%20you,%20they%20will%20deplete%20you,%20you%20will%20become%20the%20fool.%E2%80%9D%20It%20is%20the%20art%20of%20the%20devil,%20it%20is%20the%20temptation%20of%20the%20devil.%20%E2%80%9CWhy%20do%20you%20not%20live%20like%20everyone%20else?%20To%20exploit%20others,%20to%20use%20others,%20to%20see%20others%20not%20as%20images%20of%20God%20but%20as%20vessels%20of%20pleasure,%20to%20live%20for%20yourself,%20not%20to%20live%20for%20God%20or%20for%20people?%E2%80%9D%20And%20the%20afflicted%20person%20believes%20these%20things%20and%20accepts%20them%20and%20thinks%20that%20in%20the%20non-crucifixion%20life%20they%20will%20really%20find%20true%20joy%20and%20true%20rest;%20but%20they%20do%20not%20find%20it.%20And%20behold,%20today%20the%20Cross%20of%20our%20Lord%20rises%20again%20and%20reminds%20all%20of%20us%20and%20the%20whole%20world%20that%20when%20we%20choose%20the%20Cross%20as%20our%20way%20of%20life,%20then%20we%20have%20both%20the%20Resurrection%20and%20our%20true%20freedom%20and%20our%20true%20rest%20in%20the%20love%20of%20God%20and%20in%20the%20love%20of%20our%20brethren,%20then%20we%20have%20the%20true%20peace%20of%20Christ.%20Therefore,%20you%20also%20see%20this%20great%20mystery%20of%20our%20piety%20and%20faith,%20that%20where%20there%20is%20a%20Cross,%20there%20is%20a%20Resurrection,%20and%20where%20there%20is%20a%20Resurrection,%20there%20the%20Cross%20has%20definitely%20preceded.%20Whereas%20nowhere%20is%20there%20a%20Resurrection,%20if%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%20did%20not%20exist%20there%20before.%20And%20because%20these%20were%20given%20to%20us%20by%20our%20Holy%20Church,%20these%20we%20received%20through%20the%20work%20of%20our%20Lord,%20our%20God-man%20Christ%20crucified%20on%20the%20Cross.%20This%20life%20was%20lived%20by%20the%20holy%20Apostles,%20the%20holy%20Fathers,%20the%20holy%20Ascetics%20who%20settled%20in%20the%20deserts,%20all%20Saints%20who%20lived%20in%20the%20congregations%20as%20faithful%20servants%20of%20Jesus%20Christ,%20who%20let%20us%20know%20that%20this%20is%20the%20whole%20Gospel%20of%20Christ.%20That%20is%20why%20we%20as%20Christians%20want%20to%20live%20in%20the%20way%20of%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ.%20And%20we%20as%20Monks%20for%20this%20reason%20go%20out%20to%20the%20blessed%20desert,%20to%20this%20holy%20Crucifixion-%20Resurrection%20place%20of%20our%20Panagia,%20to%20live%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ%20and%20in%20the%20way%20of%20the%20Cross%20of%20Christ.%20That%20is%20why%20today%20we%20especially%20feel%20the%2 this%20and%20planned%20to%20arrest%20him%20again,%20but%20he%20managed%20to%20flee%20into%20the%20Caucasus%20in%20a%20beggar%E2%80%99s%20disguise,%20with%20the%20money%20stitched%20into%20his%20clothes.%20He%20was%20met%20with%20suspicion%20on%20the%20Russian%20side%20%E2%80%93%20they%20believed%20him%20to%20be%20a%20Russian%20deserter%20from%20the%20Crimean%20War%20%E2%80%93%20and%20was%20forced%20back%20into%20Turkey%20where%20again%20he%20faced%20arrest.%20Not%20being%20able%20to%20return%20home%20to%20Erzurum%20in%20the%20open,%20without%20being%20recognised,%20Yusuf%20Abdul%20instead%20turned%20southward,%20seeking%20to%20undergo%20a%20pilgrimage%20to%20Jerusalem.%20Here%20again%20he%20was%20aided%20by%20the%20Greeks%20and%20Armenians,%20who%20saw%20fit%20to%20aid%20him%20with%20money%20and%20supplies%20for%20the%20journey.%C2%A0%20In%20October%20of%201874%20Yusuf%20Abdul%20entered%20Russia%20a%20second%20time.%20He%20was%20set%20up%20in%20travellers%E2%80%99%20quarters,%20given%20accommodations%20and%20food,%20and%20made%20the%20acquaintance%20of%20the%20mayor%20of%20Odessa,%20who%20offered%20to%20be%20his%20sponsor%20at%20baptism.%20This%20baptism,%20of%20which%20Yusuf%20Abdul%20had%20spent%20nearly%20two%20decades%20in%20deep%20desire%20and%20steadfast%20pursuit,%20occurred%20on%20the%20tenth%20of%20November,%201874,%20in%20the%20quarantine%20Church%20of%20Saint%20Nicholas%20in%20Odessa.%20Naturally%20enough,%20Yusuf%20Abdul%20took%20the%20Wonderworker%20as%20his%20patron%20saint,%20and%20was%20baptised%20with%20the%20name%20of%20Nikolai.%20When%20the%20Turks%20learned%20of%20his%20betrayal%20of%20Islam,%20they%20caught%20him%20and%20carved%20crosses%20in%20the%20skin%20of%20his%20chest%20and%20back%20and%20broke%20his%20bones.%20The%20pasha%20lost%20consciousness.%20Thinking%20that%20he%20was%20dead,%20the%20Turks%20threw%20him%20to%20dogs%20to%20be%20torn%20apart.%20But%20God%20preserved%20him.%20He%20regained%20consciousness,%20thanking%20God,%20Whom%20he%20loved%20with%20his%20whole%20heart.%20Passing%20Russian%20merchants%20picked%20Yusuf%20up.%20He%20told%20them%20that%20thieves%20had%20fallen%20on%20him,%20robbed%20him%20and%20beaten%20him.%20Out%20of%20compassion,%20the%20merchants%20took%20him%20to%20the%20Caucasus%20and%20gave%20him%20to%20a%20woman%20so%20that%20he%20could%20be%20taken%20care%20of.%20Yusuf%20recovered,%20but%20was%20unrecognizable.%20He%20was%20a%20bent-over%20old%20man,%20who%20walked%20with%20a%20stick,%20dressed%20poorly,%20but%20had%20a%20rich%20soul,%20endowed%20with%20spiritual%20power.%20He%20succeeded%20in%20crossing%20from%20the%20Caucasus%20to%20Odessa%20and%20until%201891%20lived%20much%20in%20Kazan,%20but%20also%20went%20on%20pilgrimages%20to%20the%20holy%20places%20of%20Russia.%20Once,%20setting%20out%20for%20Moscow,%20he%20found%20himself%20in%20Optina,%20which%20he%20had%20heard%20of%20through%20the%20fame%20of%20the%20Optina%20Elder%20Ambrose.%20He%20liked%20it%20very%20much%20there,%20but%20unexpectedly%20fell%20ill%20and%20was%20placed%20in%20the%20monastery%20infirmary.%20As%20he%20spoke%20very%20poor%20Russian,%20he%20asked%20if%20anyone%20spoke%20French.%20The%20French-speaking%20Elder%20Barsanuphius,%20who%20himself%20had%20been%20a%20colonel%20in%20the%20Russian%20Army%20and%20had%20served%20in%20Kazan%20before%20becoming%20a%20monk,%20was%20summoned%20to%20confess%20the%20sick%20pilgrim.%20The%20Turk%20recounted%20his%20life%20to%20the%20Elder,%20but%20forbade%20him%20to%20reveal%20his%20secret%20while%20he%20was%20alive.%20During%20his%20illness%20he%20was%20tonsured%20under%20the%20name%20Nicholas,%20taking%20the%20schema.%20However,%20he%20recovered%20and%20settled%20in%20the%20Skete.%20Once,%20taking%20a%20walk%20with%20him,%20he%20suddenly%20said:%20%E2%80%98Father,%20can%20you%20hear%20the%20angelic%20music?%E2%80%A6It%E2%80%99s%20a%20great%20happiness%20to%20hear%20it%E2%80%99.%20The%20Elder%20heard%20nothing%20and%20Fr%20Nicholas,%20in%20his%20simplicity,%20was%20amazed%20at%20his%20deafness.%20Indeed,%20this%20simple%20monk%20was%20carried%20up%20to%20heaven%20during%20his%20earthly%20life.%20He%20saw%20the%20abodes%20of%20Paradise%20and%20heard%20heavenly%20music.%20This%20we%20know%20of%20from%20the%20following%20event.%20Fr%20Nicholas%20was%20always%20shy%20and%20silent,%20a%20sickly%20man%20who%20avoided%20everyone,%20although%20the%20monks%20all%20somehow%20involuntarily%20loved%20him.%20He%20never%20went%20to%20anyone%E2%80%99s%20cell,%20even%20in%20the%20daytime,%20let%20alone%20at%20night.%20One%20night,%20however,%20he%20came%20to%20Elder%20Barsanuphius%E2%80%99%20cell.%20According%20to%20Fr%20Barsanuphius,%20another%20Elder,%20Fr%20Anatoly,%20had%20already%20summoned%20him%20and%20warned%20him:%20%E2%80%98Did%20you%20know%20that%20in%20our%20Skete,%20by%20the%20great%20mercy%20of%20God,%20we%20have%20our%20own%20St%20Andrew%20the%20Fool%20for%20Christ?%20Yes,%20we%20have%20such%20a%20man%20here%20who,%20whether%20in%20the%20body% of%20Bolshevism%20in%20Russia%20were%20strong%20supporters%20and%20patrons%20of%20Ivan%20Pavlov.%20Aldous%20Huxley,%20in%20his%20work,%C2%A0%E2%80%9CBrave%20New%20World%20Revisited,%E2%80%9D%C2%A0has%20many%20very%20interesting%20admissions.%20Regardless%20of%20whether%20one%20thinks%20Huxley%20was%20trying%20to%20warn%20people%20of%20the%20goals%20of%20the%20elite%20or%20that%20he%20was%20engaging%20in%20the%20very%20typical%20tactic%20of%20%E2%80%9Chiding%20in%20plain%20sight,%E2%80%9D%20is%20not%20of%20the%20greatest%20concern%20to%20me%20at%20the%20moment.%20One%20way%20or%20another,%20he%20expresses%20the%20ideals,%20methods,%20and%20goals%20%E2%80%93%20the%20spirit%20%E2%80%93%20of%20the%20new%20order%20that%20seeks%20to%20take%20control%20of%20man.%20%E2%80%9CWhatever%20may%20have%20happened%20in%20the%20early%20years,%20it%20seems%20fairly%20certain%20that%20torture%20is%20not%20extensively%20used%20by%20the%20Communist%20police%20today.%20They%20draw%20their%20inspiration,%20not%20from%20the%20Inquisitor%20or%20the%20SS%20man,%20but%20from%20the%20physiologist%20and%20his%20methodically%20conditioned%20laboratory%20animals.%20For%20the%20dictator%20and%20his%20policemen,%20Pavlov%E2%80%99s%20findings%20have%20important%20practical%20implications.%20If%20the%20central%20nervous%20system%20of%20dogs%20can%20be%20broken%20down,%20so%20can%20the%20central%20nervous%20system%20of%20political%20prisoners%E2%80%9D%C2%A0%E2%80%93%20And%20for%20that%20matter%20those%20of%20the%20general%20population,%20so%20they%20would%20also%20reason%20%E2%80%93%C2%A0%E2%80%9CIt%20is%20simply%20a%20matter%20of%20applying%20the%20right%20amount%20of%20stress%20for%20the%20right%20length%20of%20time.%20At%20the%20end%20of%20the%20treatment,%20the%20prisoner%20will%20be%20in%20a%20state%20of%20neurosis%20or%20hysteria,%20and%20will%20be%20ready%20to%20confess%20whatever%20his%20captors%20want%20him%20to%20confess%E2%80%9D%C2%A0(Brave%20New%20World%20Revisited,%C2%A0Harper%20Perennial,%202004,%20pg.%20289).%20Such%20tactics%20were%20used%20throughout%20the%20Soviet%20system,%20as%20much%20historical%20evidence%20testifies.%20One%20of%20the%20most%20diabolical%20of%20such%20experiments%20was%20carried%20out%20in%20Communist%20Romania%20in%20Pitesti%20prison.%20It%20was%20simply%20called%20%E2%80%9CReeducation.%E2%80%9D%20The%20modern%20materialist%20views%20man%20as%20but%20a%20biological%20machine.%20Mr.%20Huxley%20continues,%C2%A0%E2%80%9CBut%20confession%20is%20not%20enough.%20A%20hopeless%20neurotic%20is%20no%20use%20to%20anyone.%20What%20the%20intelligent%20and%20practical%20dictator%20needs%20is%20not%20a%20patient%20to%20be%20institutionalized,%20or%20a%20victim%20to%20be%20shot,%20but%20a%20convert%20who%20will%20work%20for%20the%20Cause%E2%80%9D%C2%A0(Ibid).%20And%20there%20is%20a%20new%20anti-evangelism%20going%20on,%20one%20that%20indeed%20has%20as%20its%20goal%20conversion.%20I%20take%20the%20time%20to%20highlight%20these%20things%20so%20that%20we%20may%20be%20aware%20of%20the%20methods%20that%20are%20being%20employed.%20For%20we%20are%20told%20to%20be%20watchful.%20We%20cannot%20disallow%20that%20we%20are%20part%20of%20the%20human%20race%20and%20that%20we%20are,%20if%20not%20careful%20in%20Christ,%20susceptible%20to%20the%20sly%20tactics%20devised%20and%20utilized.%20%E2%80%9CTurning%20once%20again%20to%20Pavlov,%20he%20learns%20that,%20on%20their%20way%20to%20the%20point%20of%20final%20breakdown,%20dogs%20become%20more%20than%20normally%20suggestible.%20New%20behavior%20patterns%20can%20easily%20be%20installed%20while%20the%20dog%20is%20at%20or%20near%20the%20limit%20of%20cerebral%20endurance,%20and%20these%20new%20behavior%20patterns%20seem%20to%20be%20ineradicable.%20The%20animal%20in%20which%20they%20have%20been%20implanted%20cannot%20be%20deconditioned;%20that%20which%20it%20has%20learned%20under%20stress%20will%20remain%20an%20integral%20part%20of%20its%20make-up%E2%80%9D%C2%A0(Ibid.%20289-290).%20It%20is%20the%20goal%20of%20the%20enemy%20to%20recondition%20man%20%E2%80%93%20his%20perverse%20imitation%20of%20Christ%20Jesus%E2%80%99%20making%20of%20men%C2%A0%E2%80%9Cnew%20creation%E2%80%9D%C2%A0(cf.%202%20Cor.%205:17)%20%E2%80%93%20so%20to%20make%20of%20him%20but%20an%20animal%20that%20is%20stripped%20of%20all%20humanity,%20a%20utilitarian%20object%20that%20if%20found%20of%20not%20sufficient%20use%20and%20practicality%20may%20be%20discarded%20with%20little%20resistance.%20In%20a%20multitude%20of%20ways,%20the%20uniformity%20of%20forgetfulness%20of%20God%20is%20actively%20being%20cultivated%20in%20the%20psyche%20of%20people.%20It%20is%20very%20worth%20noting%20the%20means%20and%20methods%20of%20producing%20psychological%20stress%20elaborated%20by%20Mr.%20Huxley;%20the%20reader,%20I%E2%80%99m%20sure,%20will%20find%20much%20in%20common%20with%20the%20social%20environment%20that%20surrounds%20us.%C2%A0%E2%80%9CPsychological%20stresses%20can%20be%20produced%20in%20many%20ways%20%E2%80%A6%20it%20has%20been%20found%20that%20the%20deliberate%20induction%20of%20fear,%20rage,%20or%20anxiety%20markedly%20heightens%20the%20dog%E2%80%99s%20suggestibility.%20If%20these%20emotions%20are%20kept%20at%20a%20high%20pitch%20of%20intensity%20for%20a%20long%20enough%20time,%20the%20brain%20goes%20%E2%80%98on%20strike.%E2%80%99%20When%20this%20happens,%20new%20behavior%20patterns%20may%20be%20installed%20with%20the%20greatest%20of%20ease%E2%80%9D%C2%A0(%C2%A0Brave%20New%20World%20Revisited,%C2%A0pg.%20290).%20This%20is%20why%20our%20world%20is%20full%20of%20what%20some%20have%20labeled%20%E2%80%9Cpseudo-ideas.%E2%80%9D%20The%20human%20mind%20is%20purposely%20broken%20down%20and%20fed%20false%20ideas,%20we%20may%20say%20fantastical%20and%20self-contradicting%20ideas%20%E2%80%93%20which%20it%20then%20takes%20as%20some%20sort%20of%20reality%20%E2%80%93%20because%20in%20this%20state%20of%20constant%20emotional%20and%20sentimental%20reaction%20it%20is%20very%20easy%20to%20control.%20For%20this%20to%20be%20effective,%20an%20environment%20of%20destabilization%20must%20be%20produced%20so%20to%20keep%20the%20subject%20in%20a%20state%20of%20anxiety,%20which%20will%20also%20stir%20up%20fear%20and%20rage.%20Does%20that%20sound%20familiar?%20He%20continues,%C2%A0%E2%80%9CAmong%20the%20physical%20stresses%20that%20increase%20a%20dog%E2%80%99s%20suggestibility%20are%20fatigue,%20wounds,%20and%20every%20form%20of%20sickness%E2%80%9D%C2%A0(Ibid).%20And%20then%20as%20if%20explaining%20events%20of%20our%20day,%20he%20elaborates,%C2%A0%E2%80%9CIllness%20is%20even%20more%20effective%20than%20fatigue%20as%20an%20intensifier%20of%20suggestibility%E2%80%9D%C2%A0(Ibid).%20As%20I%20stated%20many%20a%20time,%20the%20fundamental%20goal%20of%20covidism%20(yes%20there%20was%20a%20real%20virus,%20I%E2%80%99m%20speaking%20of%20the%20utilizing%20of%20the%20virus%20for%20an%20agenda)%20was%20primarily%20psychological%20%E2%80%93%20masks,%20lockdowns%20(applied,%20eased,%20and%20applied%20again),%20new%20social%20habits,%20and%20so%20forth.%20It%20is%20also%20why%20the%20threat%20of%20some%20new%20disease%20is%20ever%20in%20the%20mainstream%20media.%20Covidism%20proved%20that%20people,%20even%20Christians,%20are%20willing%20to%20accept%20a%20%E2%80%9Cnew%20normal%E2%80%9D%20under%20the%20threat%20of%20illness.%20It%20was%20priming%20the%20pump.%20People%20are%20willing%20to%20accept%20new%20standards%20of%20human%20interaction%20(or%20lack%20thereof)%20and%20even%20Christians%20are%20willing%20to%20accept%20the%20modification%20of%20worship%20and%20interaction%20with%20the%20Divine%20under%20the%20threat%20of%20an%20illness.%20Some%20Christians%20even%20refused%20the%20non-masked%20entrance%20into%20church%20buildings;%20some%20even%20willingly%20segregated%20the%20unvaccinated%20or%20barred%20them%20from%20worship.%20Those%20who%20would%20not%20accept%20the%20new%20mass%20psychosis%20were%20many%20times%20cut%20off,%20even%20by%20those%20counted%20as%20friends.%20What%20do%20such%20actions%20say,%20and%20have%20we%20repented%20and%20reconciled?%20Or%20has%20it%20just%20been%20easier%20to%20brush%20it%20under%20the%20carpet?%20Does%20this%20not%20indicate%20the%20danger,%20and%20on%20some%20level%20the%20potency,%20of%20what%20is%20being%20addressed%20in%20this%20article?%20Although%20it%20may%20seem%20at%20current%20that%20covidism%20is%20dormant,%20I%20bring%20it%20up%20because%20substantial%20ground%20was%20taken,%20through%20it,%20in%20the%20reconditioning%20of%20humanity.%20Certian%20mentalities%20were%20cultivated%20in%20many%20and%20are%20all%20still%20there.%20Mr.%20Huxley%20notes,%C2%A0%E2%80%9CIntense,%20prolonged%20fear%20broke%20them%20down%20and%20produced%20a%20state%20of%20greatly%20intensified%20suggestibility%20%E2%80%A6%20If%20indoctrination%20is%20given%20in%20the%20right%20way%20at%20the%20proper%20stage%20of%20nervous%20exhaustion,%20it%20will%20work.%20Under%20favorable%20conditions,%20practically%20everybody%20can%20be%20converted%20to%20practically%20anything%E2%80%9D%C2%A0(Ibid.%20pg.%20291).%20As%20covidsm%20was%20losing%20its%20potency,%20the%20world%20was%20hurriedly%20moved%20into%20its%20next%20crisis.%20Somehow%20war%20was%20begun%20in%20a%20country%20most%20Americans%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20find%20on%20a%20map.%20And%20it%20became%20the%20great%20scapegoat%20for%20a%20plethora%20of%20global%20%E2%80%9Cshortages.%E2%80%9D%20And%20let%E2%80%99s%20not%20forget%20about%20the%20use%20of%20%E2%80%9Cclimate%E2%80%9D%20for%20fearmongering.%20Keep%20the%20masses%20in%20a%20state%20of%20anxiety%20and%20worry.%20We%20must%20also%20take%20into%20consideration%20that%20when%20there%20is%20instability%20people%20tend%20to%20be%20more%20open%20to%20saviors.%20There%20is%20undoubtedly%20a%20certain%20reality%20behind%20the%20materialist%20understanding%20of%20the%20human%20psyche.%20The%20methods%20have%20been%20implemented%20with%20great%20success%20in%20many%20places.%20It%20does%20at%20least%20confirm%20that%20the%20human%20mind%20will%20be%20conformed%20to%20something%20or%20someone.%C2%A0%20So,%20what%20is%20the%20Christian%20to%20do?%20Remember%20God.%20If%20in%20situations%20of%20heightened%20stress%20we%20become%20more%20%E2%80%9Csusceptible,%E2%80%9D%20then%20let%20us%20turn%20the%20constructed%20situations%20of%20continued%20crisis%20around%20us%20to%20a%20beneficial%20end.%20In%20trials%20and%20tribulations,%20let%20us%20turn%20to%20God.%20If%20the%20goal%20is%20to%20wear%20us%20down,%20then%20let%20us%20encourage%20ourselves%20in%20the%20Lord.%20The%20goal%20is%20to%20mentally%20weaken%20us,%20let%20us%20strengthen%20our%20minds%20in%20Christ.%20Ultimately,%20the%20plans%20of%20the%20Devil,%20executed%20through%20those%20sad%20persons%20who%20serve%20him,%20will%20all%20come%20crashing%20down%20and%20be%20destroyed.%20The%20Scriptures%20admonish%20us,%C2%A0%E2%80%9CTherefore%20humble%20yourselves%20under%20the%20mighty%20hand%20of%20God,%20that%20He%20may%20exalt%20you%20in%20due%20time,%20casting%20all%20your%20cares%20upon%20Him,%20for%20He%20cares%20for%20you.%20Be%20sober,%20be%20vigilant;%20because%20your%20adversary%20the%20devil%20walks%20about%20like%20a%20roaring%20lion,%20seeking%20whom%20he%20may%20devour.%20Resist%20him,%20steadfast%20in%20the%20faith,%20knowing%20that%20the%20same%20sufferings%20are%20experienced%20by%20your%20brotherhood%20in%20the%20world%E2%80%9D%C2%A0(1%20Pet.%205:6-9).%20%E2%80%9CCast%20thy%20care%20upon%20the%20Lord,%20and%20He%20shall%20nourish%20thee;%20He%20shall%20never%20suffer%20the%20righteous%20to%20stumble.%20But%20Thou,%20O%20God,%20shalt%20bring%20them%20into%20the%20pit%20of...nhttps://deathtotheworld.com/articles/sinister-psychosis-and-the-remembrance-of-god/

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?text=*People%20Today%20Still%20Choose%20Barabbas*n%E2%80%9C%E2%80%98Not%20this%20Man,%20but%20Barabbas!%E2%80%99%20Now%20Barabbas%20was%20a%20robber%E2%80%9D%20(Jn%2018:40).%20Life,%20Light,%20Freedom,%20Truth%20Himself%20is%20revealed%20to%20the%20world%20and%20yet%20many%20encounter%20the%20revelation%20of%20Eternity,%20of%20the%20very%20divine%20One,%20and%20shrink%20back%20into%20the%20shadows%20of%20fallen%20human%20distortion.%20There,%20in%20the%20murky%20shadows,%20humanity%20may%20comfort%20itself%20with%20self-affirming%20platitudes.%C2%A0%20%E2%80%9CThe%20light%20has%20come%20into%20the%20world,%20and%20men%20loved%20darkness%20rather%20than%20light,%20because%20their%20deeds%20were%20evil%E2%80%9D%20(Jn%203:19).%20In%20the%20darkness,%20evil%20movements%20and%C2%A0%20blindness%20caused%20by%20sin%20may%20be%20called%20light%20by%20fallen%20man.%20Evil%20may%20be%20called%20good.%20Thus,%20in%20this%20case,%20darkness%20is%20taken%20for%20light.%20True%20light%20is%20rejected%20because%20it%20causes%20a%20painful%20exposure%20of%20the%20true%20state%20of%20humanity%20and%20persons.%20To%20justify%20existing%20in%20darkness%20men%20gather%20to%20themselves%20voices%20that%20will%20confirm%20their%20wandering%20desires.%20%E2%80%9CThe%20time%20will%20come%20when%20they%20will%20not%20endure%20sound%20doctrine,%20but%20according%20to%20their%20own%20desires,%20because%20they%20have%20itching%20ears,%20they%20will%20heap%20up%20for%20themselves%20teachers;%20and%20they%20will%20turn%20their%20ears%20away%20from%20the%20truth%E2%80%9D%20(1%20Tim.%204:3).%20Men%20become%20willing%20slaves%20to%20their%20desires%20and%20seek%20to%20find%20prophets%20who%20will%20confirm%20and%20condone%20their%20love%20of%20self-infatuation.%20And%20so,%20from%20the%20darkness,%20which%20men%20call%20light,%20and%20which%20produces%20a%20lying%20vision,%20they%20begin%20to%20%E2%80%9Cspeak%20from%20the%20deceit%20of%20their%20own%20minds%E2%80%9D%20(cf.%20Jer.%2014:14).%C2%A0%20The%20human%20mind%20and%20spirit%20can%20only%20be%20free%20when%20it%20transcends%20the%20limitations%20of%20its%20fallen%20reasoning.%20The%20human%20mind%20must%20be%20healed%20and%20ascend%20and%20encounter%20that%20which%20is%20Eternal%20and%20Divine.%20Then,%20from%20a%20place%20of%20timeless%20transcendence,%20untouched%20by%20the%20corruption%20of%20fallenness,%20truth%20may%20be%20spoken%20back%20to%20the%20confines%20of%20created%20limitations.%20%E2%80%9CFor%20the%20testimony%20of%20Jesus%20is%20the%20spirit%20of%20prophecy%E2%80%9D%20(Rev.%2019:10).%C2%A0%20Any%20voice%20which%20does%20not%20seek%20to%20speak%20from%20the%20limitless%20reality%20of%20revealed%20Truth%20and%20eternity%20is%20a%20false%20prophet.%20For%20such%20a%20voice%20takes%20as%20its%20guides%20the%20corrupt%20and%20fallen%20system%20of%20darkness%20to%20which%20the%20world,%20in%20its%20rejection%20of%20Light%20and%20Truth,%20is%20inevitably%20subjected.%20Such%20a%20one%20cannot%20perceive%20things%20as%20they%20truly%20are,%20for%20such%20a%20one%20sees%20only%20in%20darkness.%20Thus,%20as%20the%20Hebrews%20of%20old,%20each%20person%20is%20(and%20even%20groups%20of%20persons%20are)%20confronted%20with%20a%20choice%20between%20Barabbas%20or%20Christ%20Jesus,%20to%20receive%20either%20a%20false%20prophet%20or%20the%20only%20true%20Prophet.%20St.%20Symeon%20the%20New%20Theologian%20teaches%20that%20Barabbas%20was%20a%20type%20of%20the%20antichrist,%20who%20is%20the%20epitome%20of%20a%20false%20prophet.%20Fallen%20humanity%20loves%20false%20prophets%20for%20they%20confirm%20it%20in%20its%20wandering%20desires.%20It%20believes%20that%20such%20ones%20will%20help%20it%20to%20preserve%20and%20even%20make%20real%20the%20evanescent%20substance%20of%20darkness,%20which%20it%20chooses%20as%20its%20dwelling%20place%20through%20its%20rejection%20of%20light.%20Fallen%20man%20seeks%20to%20establish%20darkness%20as%20the%20only%20reality.%20Thus%20it%20seeks%20the%20destruction%20of%20all%20those%20who%20would%20expose%20humanity%E2%80%99s%20self-inflicted%20desire%20to%20abide%20in%20fading%20darkness.%20Intoxicating%20its%20self%20with%20the%20words%20of%20false%20prophets,%20who%20are%20but%20robbers,%20it%20seeks%20to%20destroy%20Truth,%20and%20any%20who%20seek%20to%20speak%20of%20Truth.%20For%20Truth,%20it%20believes,%20will%20deprive%20it%20of%20its%20elusive%20and%20illusory%20place%20of%20power.%C2%A0%20The%20false%20prophets%20cry%20out,%20%E2%80%9Cto%20preserve%20our%20authority%20we%20must%20do%20away%20with%20this%20Jesus%20Christ!%E2%80%9D%20%E2%80%9CCrucify%20Him!%20Crucify%20Him!%E2%80%9D%20And%20the%20greatest%20tragedy%20is%20%E2%80%93%20such%20cries%20come%20not%20only%20from%20those%20of%20the%20world%20but%20also%20from%20those%20who,%20like%20the%20Hebrews%20of%20old,%20are%20called%20by%20the%20name%20of%20Israel,%20those%20called%20to%20be%20the%20assembly%20of%20the%20Living%20God.%20Any%20who%20desire%20to%20follow%20after%20Jesus%20Christ%20must%20be%20willing%20to%20suffer.%20For%20to%20be%20a%20follower%20of%20Christ%20means%20that%20such%20a%20one%20must%20be%20willing%20to%20participate%20in%20the%20true%20Spirit%20of%20prophecy.%20And%20thus,%20each%20is%20called%20to%20%E2%80%9Ccount%20the%20costs.%E2%80%9D%20For%20it%20is%20abundantly%20clear%20that%20a%20person%20who%20speaks%20the%20Truth%20will%20be,%20as%20it%20is%20written,%20rejected%20by%20this%20fallen%20system%20of%20the%20world.%20%E2%80%9COf%20whom%20the%20world%20is%20not%20worthy.%20They%20%5Bthose%20who%20sought%20Truth%20and%20stood%20for%20it%5D%20were%20made%20to%20wander%20in%20deserts,%20and%20in%20mountains,%20and%20in%20caves%20and%20in%20holes%20of%20the%20earth%E2%80%9D%20(Heb.%2011:38).%20The%20spirit%20of%20the%20world%20hates%20any%20who%20seek%20to%20free%20themselves%20from%20its%20bondage%20of%20gloom.%20It%20will%20hunt%20those%20who%20it%20considers%20to%20be%20rebels.%20It%20even%20seeks%20to%20present%20itself%20as%20an%20angel%20of%20light%20while%20doing%20so%20(cf.%202%20Cor.%2011:14).%20The%20Lord%20Jesus%20Himself%20said,%20%E2%80%9CIf%20the%20world%20hates%20you,%20you%20know%20that%20it%20has%20hated%20Me%20before%20it%20has%20hated%20you.%20If%20you%20were%20of%20the%20world,%20the%20world%20would%20love%20its%20own;%20but%20you%20are%20not%20of%20the%20world%20%E2%80%93%20but%20I%20chose%20you%20for%20Myself%20out%20of%20the%20world%20%E2%80%93%20therefore%20the%20world%20hates%20you%E2%80%9D%20(Jn.%2015:18-19).%20And%20thus%20the%20true%20prophet%20may%20cry%20out,%20%E2%80%9CFor%20on%20account%20of%20Thee,%20we%20are%20being%20put%20to%20death%20the%20whole%20day;%20we%20were%20counted%20as%20sheep%20for%20the%20slaughter%E2%80%9D%20(Rom.%208:26).%20Such%20a%20person%20is%20willing%20to%20suffer%20all%20these%20things%20because%20he%20has%20tasted,%20even%20in%20some%20small%20way,%20of%20the%20good%20things%20to%20come.%20Moreover%20he%20is%20confidant%20that%20these%20words%20shall%20be%20fulfilled%20upon%20him,%20%E2%80%9CBlessed%20are%20they%20who%20are%20persecuted%20for%20righteousness%20sake,%20for%20theirs%20is%20the%20kingdom%20of%20heaven%E2%80%9D%20(Matt.%205:10).%20Not%20so%20the%20false%20prophets.%20For%20them%20the%20preservation%20of%20earthly%20existence%20and%20worldly%20status%20takes%20priority.%20Their%20words%20speak%20to%20the%20lower%20impulses%20of%20mankind.%20They%20play%20upon%20the%20worldly%20cares%20and%20worries%20of%20people,%20thereby%20lulling%20them%20into%20a%20deadly%20sleep.%20They%20manipulate%20with%20fear%20and%20hold%20out%20the%20hope%20of%20comfort,%20but%20always%20just%20out%20of%20reach,%20just%20around%20the%20next%20corner.%C2%A0%20In%20such%20cases,%20sometimes,%20worldly%20cares%20and%20earthly%20pursuits%20are%20presented%20as%20virtuous.%20And%20thus,%20even%20in%20Christianity,%20a%20sad%20preference%20is%20promoted,%20one%20that%20seeks%20to%20preserve%20the%20strictly%20outward%20and%20institutional%20aspects%20while%20sacrificing%20the%20interior%20essential%20life.%20(This%20is%20not%20to%20imply%20a%20dichotomy,%20but%20rather%20that%20the%20exterior%20cannot%20live%20without%20true%20soundness%20of%20the%20interior,%20the%20heart.%20Thus,%20the%20exterior%20may%20seem%20to%20shrink%20and%20be%20despised%20while%20the%20essential%20nature%20of%20the%20heart%20is%20kept%20alive%20and%20even%20flourishes.%20But%20if%20the%20heart%20dies%20the%20exterior%20will%20also%20perish.)%20The%20prophet%20Jeremiah%20reveals%20this%20about%20false%20prophets:%20%E2%80%9CThey%20invent%20futile%20visions%20for%20themselves.%20They%20speak%20from%20their%20own%20heart,%20not%20from%20the%20mouth%20of%20the%20Lord.%20They%20say%20to%20those%20who%20reject%20the%20word%20of%20the%20Lord,%20%E2%80%98You%20shall%20have%20peace.%E2%80%99%20To%20those%20who%20walk%20according%20to%20their%20wishes,%20and%20to%20everyone%20who%20walks%20in%20the%20error%20of%20his%20heart,%20they%20say,%20%E2%80%98No%20evil%20shall%20come%20upon%20you%E2%80%9D%20(Jer.%2023:16-17)%20True%20prophecy%20is%20%E2%80%9Cnot%20of%20man,%E2%80%9D%20rather%20it%20comes%20from%20the%20unchanging%20and%20eternal%20foundation%20of%20Revelation%20in%20the%20God-Man.%20It%20is%20not%20of%20this%20world.%20Conversely,%20false%20prophets%20speak%20according%20to%20the%20%E2%80%9Cwisdom%E2%80%9D%20of%20this%20fallen%20age.%20They%20seek%20to%20sacrifice%20Revelation%20for%20the%20sake%20of%20momentary%20earthly%20stability%20and%20gain.%20They%20are%20not%20willing%20to%20suffer%20tribulations%20for%20the%20sake%20of%20righteousness%20and%20truth.%20Of%20such%20the%20Lord%20says,%20%E2%80%9CIf%20they%20had%20stood%20in%20My%20counsel%20and%20heard%20My%20words,%20then%20they%20would%20have%20turned%20My%20people%20away%20from%20their%20wicked%20practices%E2%80%9D%20(Jer.%2023:22).%C2%A0%20Any%20who%20are%20willing%20to%20follow%20after%20Christ%20the%20Lord%20must%20be%20willing%20to,%20in%20some%20way,%C2%A0%20climb%20the%20stairs%20of%20Gabbatha%20and%20stand%20with%20Him%20as%20the%20deafening%20cry%20rings%20out%20%E2%80%9CCrucify%20Him,%20Crucify%20them!%E2%80%9D%20while%20those%20who%20speak%20from%20this%20fallen%20world%20will%20stand%20with%20the%20blinded%20masses,%20who%20seek%20to%20preserve%20their%20place.%20They%20will%20be%20willing%20to%20take%20Barabbas%20instead%20of%20Christ%20Jesus.%20They%20will%20urge%20people%20to%20exclaim,%20%E2%80%9CWe%20have%20no%20king%20but%20Caesar%E2%80%9D%20(Jn.%2019:16)!%20We%20have%20only%20the%20darkness%20of%20the%20fallen%20world%20to%20guide%20us%20and%20we%20desire%20not%20the%20Light%20of%20eternity!%20%E2%80%9CYou%20will%20know%20them%20by%20their%20fruits%E2%80%9D%20(Matt.%207:20).%C2%A0nhttps://deathtotheworld.com/articles/people-today-still-choose-barabbas/
