SPACE EXPLORATION

Space exploration is the ongoing discovery and exploration of celestial
structures in outer space by means of continuously evolving and growing space
technology. While the study of space is carried out mainly by astronomers with
telescopes, the physical exploration of space is conducted both by unmanned
robotic probes and human spaceflight.

While the observation of objects in space, known as astronomy, predates reliable
recorded history, it was the development of large and relatively efficient
rockets during the early 20th century that allowed physical space exploration to
become a reality. Common rationales for exploring space include advancing
scientific research, national prestige, uniting different nations, ensuring the
future survival of humanity, and developing military and strategic advantages
against other countries.

Space exploration has often been used as a proxy competition for geopolitical
rivalries such as the Cold War. The early era of space exploration was driven by
a "Space Race" between the Soviet Union and the United States. The launch of the
first human-made object to orbit Earth, the Soviet Union's Sputnik 1, on 4
October 1957, and the first Moon landing by the American Apollo 11 mission on 20
July 1969 are often taken as landmarks for this initial period. The Soviet space
program achieved many of the first milestones, including the first living being
in orbit in 1957, the first human spaceflight (Yuri Gagarin aboard Vostok 1) in
1961, the first spacewalk (by Aleksei Leonov) on 18 March 1965, the first
automatic landing on another celestial body in 1966, and the launch of the first
space station (Salyut 1) in 1971.

 * SPACE EXPLORATION AND NASA COLONIZATION PLANS, DOCUMENTARY ON OUR FUTURE
   VOYAGES TO THE UNIVERSE

Is it time for another 'giant leap?' In 2080, NASA scientists believe we can
and must send people to Jupiter's and Saturn's moons. Space Travel Timeline
of NASA: Exoplanet robotic missions and base camps on the Moon in the (late)
2020s. A crewed mission to Mars is planned for the late 2030s. Robotic
missions to Tau Ceti (11.9 light-years away) in the 2030s. In the 2040s,
robotic missions are launched to the TRAPPIST-1 system 40 light-years away.
Robotic missions to distant stars in the 2050s. In the 2060s, a crewed
mission will be launched to the Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter.
Mission to Jupiter (probably Callisto because it is sufficiently removed from
Jupiter's intense radiation fields) in the 2070s. Crewed missions to Saturn's
moons (likely Titan and/or Enceladus) in the 2080s...

It's Alive! Voyager 1 Sends NASA A Message From Deep Space! Where Is It Now?
► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/r5jd1F Everyone’s favorite space probes, the
Voyagers, are back in the headlines again, and recently it looked like we
almost lost communication with Voyager 1 for good. Back on December 12, 2023,
NASA reported that Voyager 1’s flight data system, which consists of three
onboard computers, started sending binary gibberish data back to Earth; a
repeating pattern of ones and zeros that made no sense to the engineers. When
the glitch first occurred, engineers could still send signals to the distant
probe and could tell it was still operating, but something was clearly wrong.

when they do, how are they supposed to respond? When you see something in

Is it time for another 'giant leap?' In 2080, NASA scientists believe we can and
must send people to Jupiter's and Saturn's moons. Space Travel Timeline of NASA:
Exoplanet robotic missions and base camps on the Moon in the (late) 2020s. A
crewed mission to Mars is planned for the late 2030s. Robotic missions to Tau
Ceti (11.9 light-years away) in the 2030s. In the 2040s, robotic missions are
launched to the TRAPPIST-1 system 40 light-years away. Robotic missions to
distant stars in the 2050s. In the 2060s, a crewed mission will be launched to
the Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter. Mission to Jupiter (probably
Callisto because it is sufficiently removed from Jupiter's intense radiation
fields) in the 2070s. Crewed missions to Saturn's moons (likely Titan and/or
Enceladus) in the 2080s. We will conduct a crewed mission in 2250 to locate
exoplanets such as Proxima Centauri (4.2 light years away). In 2300, a robotic
mission is launched to TRAPPIST-1, a system 40 light-years away. A crewed
mission to distant stars halfway to the Milky Way's center in the late 2400s.
Off-world colonization is a fascinating prospect, but it also carries a dire
warning about humanity becoming a multi-world species.

It's Alive! Voyager 1 Sends NASA A Message From Deep Space! Where Is It Now? ►
Subscribe: https://goo.gl/r5jd1F Everyone’s favorite space probes, the Voyagers,
are back in the headlines again, and recently it looked like we almost lost
communication with Voyager 1 for good. Back on December 12, 2023, NASA reported
that Voyager 1’s flight data system, which consists of three onboard computers,
started sending binary gibberish data back to Earth; a repeating pattern of ones
and zeros that made no sense to the engineers. When the glitch first occurred,
engineers could still send signals to the distant probe and could tell it was
still operating, but something was clearly wrong. Sources:

Opening for TEDxIndianaUniversity was Xploration Outer Space producer and star,
Emily Calandrelli’s tongue in cheek summary of why space exploration is actually
a misguided and empty pursuit, upon which billions of dollars are wasted every
year. Emily Calandrelli is a producer and the host of FOX's Xploration Outer
Space, a nationally syndicated educational program about the space industry. She
is also a writer for TechCrunch where she covers technology topics with a focus
on commercial space companies. Emily graduated from MIT with a Masters in
Aeronautics and Astronautics and second Masters in Technology and Policy. While
at MIT, Emily was awarded the Rene H. Miller Award for the best piece of Systems
Engineering work in the AeroAstro department. She received her bachelors in
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from West Virginia University. As an
undergraduate, Emily received the Truman Scholarship, Goldwater Scholarship, and
placed on USA Today's All-USA Academic First Team. Emily enjoys writing,
speaking, and posting on her social media (@TheSpaceGal) on the topics of
science literacy, space exploration, and equality in STEM fields. This talk was
given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently

Astronauts are supposed to be by themselves in space, which is a frightening,
overwhelming place. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that the likelihood
of them encountering someone or something is unexpectedly low. But when they do,
how are they supposed to respond? When you see something in space, it's probably
not what you expected to see because you never expect it there. What else should
you anticipate when you leave your neighborhood and travel outside of your
comfort zone? Astronauts have had terrifying things happen to them while in
space. Are these workplace conspiracies or actual experiences? Let's find out!

Crewed missions to Saturn's
moons (likely Titan and/or Enceladus) in the 2080s. We will conduct a crewed
mission in 2250 to locate exoplanets such as Proxima Centauri (4.2 light
years away). In 2300, a robotic mission is launched to TRAPPIST-1, a system
40 light-years away. A crewed mission to distant stars halfway to the Milky
Way's center in the late 2400s. Off-world colonization is a fascinating
prospect, but it also carries a dire warning about humanity becoming a
   multi-world species.

Voyagers, are back in the headlines again, and recently it looked like we
almost lost communication with Voyager 1 for good. Back on December 12,
2023, NASA reported that Voyager 1’s flight data system, which consists of
three onboard computers, started sending binary gibberish data back to
Earth; a repeating pattern of ones and zeros that made no sense to the
engineers. When the glitch first occurred, engineers could still send
signals to the distant probe and could tell it was still operating, but
something was clearly wrong. Sources: https:// pastebin. com/ raw/ Rh1WiKuJ

Astronauts are supposed to be by themselves in space, which is a
frightening, overwhelming place. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude
that the likelihood of them encountering someone or something is
unexpectedly low. But when they do, how are they supposed to respond? When
you see something in space, it's probably not what you expected to see
because you never expect it there. What else should you anticipate when you
leave your neighborhood and travel outside of your comfort zone?
Astronauts have had terrifying things happen to them while in space. Are
these workplace conspiracies or actual experiences? Let's find out!
