How to Order Custom Metal Kards?

The first step to placing an order for custom metal cards is to select your
metal card finish. Selecting your card’s finish, from polished silver to brushed
black, matte gold and copper and more – the finish then thickness and quantity
will dictate your price. You can easily select these options and order online,
then upload your own artwork. Want to start with artwork? All you need to do is
upload us your logo and let us know what you are looking for in ordering our
Metal Card Design Package. The team at Metal Kards will take care of the rest!
Information required for custom metal card orders:

 * How many metal business cards or membership cards you would like to order?
 * Metal Card Size, Thickness and Finish? We offer a variety of sizes including
   business card and credit card at no extra charge.
 * Any special options or extras you would like (deep etching, frosted etching,
   variable numbering, qr code).
 * Your Artwork (if you have a designer use our metal card template or add our
   design package)

These details help us dial in your metal business cards, metal membership cards,
or custom metal card projects. We can begin production once the estimate is

Can I get a custom quote?

For a custom bottled water quote and consultation, please fill out our Metal
Card Estimate. Be sure to include any special needs and or notes about your
project. We will respond to you quickly during business hours with additional

How soon can I receive metal business cards?

Our team works fast. Once your artwork is approved, custom Metal Kard orders
typically take 12-17 business days depending on complexity of production. We can
ship out with as fast as FedEx Next Day Air once we’ve completed production. If
you’d like samples, all our sample kits ship as quick as same business day using
pre-existing samples. If you order our Artwork Design Package, the first proof
usually takes 1-2 business days and then revisions up to 1 business day. We do
our best to communicate a clear timeline and follow up with tracking information
as soon as your order of custom metal cards ships.

What info is needed for custom artwork design?

 * Your logo! Best formats are if you have the original vector art: usually PDF,
   EPS, SVG or Ai (Illustrator)
 * Photographs & Art Assets – High Resolution (300 dpi please)
 * Colors, Brand Guidelines, and or Fonts (PMS colors are best)
 * Any copy & call to action details – ie. Phone, Website, Address, Business
   License, Slogan etc.

Are logos and photos saved from the internet ok?

Generally, No, they will print looking very fuzzy, grainy, or “pixelated”. If
you saved a low resolution bitmap file – jpg, gif, png, bitmap – Images from the
web are designed to download on your computer quickly (makes websites seem very
fast) and also you want to ensure you are not stealing copyright or trademarked
art.

High quality artwork is typically produced in vector format (Ai, EPS, SVG, PDF)
which is what we require for production. There are royalty free websites that
offer copyright free use for production in vector that may work. We do have the
ability to vectorize (recreate) your logo – if need be – to make it print clean
and clear – Included FREE with our Metal Card Design Package.

What are metal business cards made of?

Metal Cards are best when made of a quality grade stainless steel. We use
genuine type 304 stainless steel – which is a medical/surgical grade stainless
steel commonly used for tools and knives for it’s durability, high tensile
strength, corrosion and temperature resistance. We then we plate it with colored
platings like black, white, gold, copper, rose gold to bring out the beautiful
luster of metal.

We also can make cards out of type brass, aluminum, plastic and more, but we
really specialize in high quality stainless steel business cards and membership
cards.

How do you engrave a metal business card?

When you have stainless steel business cards, there are numerous ways to etch
and engrave them. Unfortunately, many home laser etchers and tools like cricuts
cannot penetrate the surface of the stainless steel. The two primary ways to
engrave them in production is photochemical etching, and laser etching with a
strong plasma or fiber machine. We can do either process at Metal Kards
including variable laser etching.

How do you ship metal business cards?

Don’t worry about the cost of shipping metal cards! While our boxes are heavier
than you’d expect due to Genuine Stainless Steel – we’ll get your cards to you
quickly, cheaply with tracking and insured. Most shipments for standard orders
are $10 for Flat Rate USPS 2-3 Day Priority Mail. Upgraded shipping via USPS 1-2
Day Priority Express, and FedEx 2-Day Air and Next Day Air are available at
market rate.

How do I place a re-order?

We have your artwork on file always, to make repeat orders super easy. The
easiest way is to reply to your order confirmation email, or let us know your
last order number and we will can quickly and easily send you a custom link to
place your order. It is as easy as that! We keep all artwork and production
information on file and can easily place the same exact order as you initially
placed, or even update it, with no added costs! In many cases, you will find
great savings and speed on follow up orders.

Do you sell metal card blanks or templates?

We can make anything custom to your dreams – and that’s exactly what we do. We
make every order custom to spec, which means we do not warehouse template blanks
of stainless steel cards. We can absolutely make them for you, a lot of
customers will have us make templates with their logo and design on them. We can
give you the best pricing on a custom design, custom spec, plates and wholesale
orders for blanks and templates.

What program should I use to create my metal card design?

If you do not have the ability to design a metal card – no problem at all. Just
send us your logo and info and let us handle the design with our Metal Card
Design Package. Generally our first design proof takes 1-2 business days, where
our team will send you an online mockup to review and approve. Many of our
clients that are designing their own labels use Adobe Illustrator with our Metal
Card Art Template. Adobe Illustrator is the best option as the program outputs
vector artwork. Vector artwork is what we need for production – We cannot go to
production with bitmap art such as jpg, gif, png. Other alternatives include
Inkscape, Gimp, and BoxySVG.

How many colors can I have on my Metal Business Card?

We can print any and every color in the rainbow. There are two types of color
printing we offer. With Silkscreen, it’s like a thick paint and solid printing
only (no shades or transparency) which we can do our best to color match with
the Pantone® Matching System (PMS) value. This gives us a larger spectrum of
colors, such as neons and metallics, that is durable and bright on our metal
business card. We include your first color free, and can add as many more
silkscreen colors as you want for a small additional price per color.

The other way we can print, is with Full Color Process (CMYK) which is the
system of printing tiny dots like your home printer. On metal, we have to lay
down white ink to print color onto, which does have a slightly grainy appearance
like old film prints. This works great if the detail does not get too small, for
things like photos, otherwise we recommend our quality Silkscreen Printing.

How do I print a metal card?

Printing your own metal card, generally is done in one of two ways. With
silkscreen, a rubylith or negative is created on a mesh screen, which hardens so
that you can push a thick ink made for metal surfaces through the mesh artwork
in the screen – and print your information on the card. Each color is created
with it’s own screenprint.

The other way is to use a multisurface inkjet printer, which is a special
commercial type of printer that uses lithography or CMYK, to print the 4 or more
ink colors onto the surface in a mesh pattern of small dots. The dots are so
small, you can print a full spectrum of color images like how magazines are
printed – on metal generally you must first print down a white ink layer for the
cmyk ink to adhere to. Metal Kards uses both techniques to create high quality,
durable printed metal business cards.

Are metal business cards better than plastic?

Metal business cards are made of durable stainless steel, which is known for
it’s corrosian resistance, tensil strength and durability. This means compared
to plastic, or paper, it has a better weight and strength. We can etch, print,
color plate, cut out, and more with metal – plastic and paper don’t typically
include as many options either. If you want the highest quality business card,
you want a genuine Metal Kard.
