WHAT SCARS ARE IN YOUR LIFE?

March 13, 2023March 13, 2023 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Fear, Life, Music

Do you have scars in your life? Do you try to hide them, or do you try to forget
about them? If you’re a Christian, they can be a good thing. Scars remind us of
where we have been, and if you’re a Christian, it reminds us of what He has
brought us through. Sometimes we need that reminder. I believe this music video
is painting a picture of where we have been through thick and thin. But the
song’s writers are thankful for them because their scars brought them to Jesus.
They are standing in Jesus’ confidence because of His faithfulness to them. With
the reminders of their scars, they remember how Jesus delivered them.

The verse that says, Darkest water and deepest pain, I wouldn’t trade it for
anything. Jesus will be with you even in the deepest, darkest part of your life.
It doesn’t matter where you are; He will be with you. In Psalm 23:1-4, the Bible
says, Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in
green pastures; He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul; He
guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art
with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. When you walk with Jesus, He
will never live you no matter where you have been.

The verse that says I wouldn’t trade it for anything. What does that verse mean?
If you are a Christian, even though the most profound pain or the darkest past,
your scars will remind you where you have been and how Jesus brought you through
what your scars represent. You may say, but you don’t know what my scars
represent; Jesus could never love me. You are so wrong. Jesus loves you so much
that He died for you. It doesn’t matter what you have done or where you have
been. If you are a Christian and your scars remind you of things you would
rather forget, ask Jesus to make something beautiful out of your scars. If
you’re not saved, invite Jesus into your life, and He can transform your scars
into something extraordinary. Click here to learn more about getting saved. You
may live with scars for the rest of your life, but they will remind you where
you came from.

The last part of the song says, I’m thankful for the scars Cause without them I
wouldn’t know your heart. Why would we be thankful for our scars? Because
without them, it would be easy to forget how we were living. Again, if Jesus
saved you, celebrate your scars because Jesus washed the stain of them away. But
what if you’re not saved? Do you think you are not worthy of Jesus’ love or even
His time? Let me ask you this: who woke you up this morning, protected you while
you slept, and gave you the air you breathe? The answer is Jesus. The last part
of the verse means you might not have met Jesus without your life’s scars. I
remember hearing a message, and the pastor said, “it takes intervention on
Jesus’ part for you to want to know Him at all.” What scars are in your life
that Jesus may use to get your attention?

LET’S TALK ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE FROM A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

March 3, 2023March 13, 2023 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Life

In this article, we will discuss climate change from a Biblical perspective. We
are going to be tackling this subject from the viewpoint of being a steward of
the earth. Why talk about stewardship in relation to climate change? There are
at least two reasons. The earth is the Lord’s, and God commanded we take care of
the earth. If the earth is God’s, then what does that make us? Stewards.
According to the Bible, God made the Earth for His people, and we are now the
caretakers of the earth. This implies that it is our duty to protect and care
for the environment. We should be grateful that God gave us the world as our
home. Our responsibility as stewards of creation includes taking care of the
earth, our families, communities, and animals. In the Holman Biblical
Dictionary, Charles Bugg describes stewardship as “Utilizing and managing all
resources God provides for the glory of God and the betterment of His creation.”

DO WE OWN THE EARTH

It says in Psalms 24:1, The earth and everything in it, the world and its
inhabitants, belong to the Lord. For he laid its foundation on the seas and
established it on the rivers. Jesus made the earth, and it’s His, not ours. We
are only temporary residents who have been entrusted with its care. Jesus will
keep His creation going until His plan is complete.

Also in Genesis 8:22 it says, “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and
harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.” In
the first part of the verse is saying at some point the earth in its present
form won’t be here. The last part of the verse is a promise to the people of the
earth. The promise is that the seasons of this earth may change, but they will
not fail. So if you are a person who is fearful that the climate is going to
change to where the earth won’t be habitable. According to the Bible, that won’t
happen.

CARING FOR THE EARTH

In Genesis 1:28 (NLT), it says, Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and
multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the
birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” After God
had made the earth, He gave it to humans to fill it with life and to care for
it. God gave us an awesome responsibility to use the earth to our benefit, but
also to use it wisely. I said at the beginning that we are stewards of the earth
because the earth belongs to God. As Christians, there are three ways we can be
good stewards of the earth. The first is to pray and ask Jesus how He wants us
to care for the earth. Second is to listen to what He says to do. Third, we need
to act on what He says to do. What can we all do to take care of the plant, God
has graciously given to us? I think there are at least three things we can do.

 * Reduce
 * Recycle
 * Be grateful

CONCLUSION

On the issue of climate change, we must remember our role as stewards of the
Earth and the responsibility we have been given to care for God’s creation. The
stewardship commandment is unavoidable for Christians; we must take care of the
environment and see our stewardship of it as a task for which we will one day
give an account. If you would like to go deeper on this subject. Check out the

BASICS OF BUDGETING: HOW TO MAKE A BUDGET THAT WORKS

October 14, 2019March 3, 2023 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Finance, Giving,
Life

So, how do you build a budget? The simplest way is by the give, save, spend
method. In the post, Reaching Financial Goals: Why You Need to Create a Budget I
asked you to write the words give, save, or spend next to each item on your
checking account statement. The purpose of that exercise was so you could see
where your money goes. A budget is going to give you the freedom that you never
knew you had, and it may save you some money. I love the last part of Haggai 1:6
it says, the wage earner puts his wages into a bag with a hole in it.” Do you
ever feel that way, you get paid and a week later, you look at your checking
account, and you have no money. You have a hole somewhere in your finances and a
budget can help you fix that.

THE PLAN

The give, save, and spend method is really simple. You just have to divide your
budget into three categories: give, save, and spend. This method is the easiest
to learn and implement. When you get your paycheck, 10% goes to giving, 5% goes
to general savings, and 85% goes to spending. I know many money experts say
budget every month, but budgets need to be personalized. Take me, for example, I
budget every week.

Give is the first category in your budget. You should try to start with giving
away 10% of your gross income. Giving a portion of your money back to Jesus or
your favorite charity is very important. Because, as a Christian, it allows
Jesus to bless your life. What if you’re not a Christian? Find a charity you
like and give to it on a monthly basis. I believe you should start doing this
whether you are a Christian. Because the act of you giving some of your money
away releases monies hold on your life. You may ask yourself, but Todd, I can’t
afford to give that much. That’s fine, just start with what you have. If you can
only afford 5%, then give 5% of your income away, then build up to 10%. You’ll
be glad you did.

Save is the next category. Every time you get paid, set some money aside into
general savings. It’s not possible to predict what will happen in your life.
Your finances need to be prepared for emergencies. You do that by saving.
Whenever you get paid, you need to save. You should aim for 5% in this category.
You may say I can’t afford to save that much. If it is just 1% of your pay, that
is fine. You need to build the habit of saving.

Spend is the last category. This is the category you split into all your
spending buckets. What are spending buckets in the budget? Your spending buckets
in the spend category are basically what you spend money on every week. You
could have buckets for clothes, hygiene, fast food, rent, groceries, car
payment, fuel, credit cards, and so on. The idea is to have all your spending
covered in your budget.

CONCLUSION

That’s basically how to set up the give, save, spend method of budgeting. You
give 10%; you save 5%, and 85% is yours to spend how you please. Let me be
honest with you. The first couple of months will be difficult if you’ve never
budgeted before. Don’t quit. You can do it. You will be broke for the rest of
your life if you don’t learn to manage your money. No more flying by the seat of
your pants with your money, like I used to. Check out Balanced Finance by Andy
Stanley to learn more about the Give, Save, Live method of budgeting. Come back
next week to see how we put all this together and build your budget.

WHY YOU NEED TO CREATE A BUDGET

October 7, 2019March 3, 2023 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Finance, Life

What do you think about when you hear sombody tell you, you should create a
budget? When I heard the word budget. I thought it meant not having a life, or
it would just take too much time to make a budget, or maybe you think you don’t
make enough money to be on a budget? The worst thought I had when I heard the
word budget was it was going to be too constrictive. Have you ever felt that
way? I know I have. When I was18 years old, my mom tried her best to get me to
budget my money, but I would have none of that. I wanted to spend my money my
way, and I didn’t want a budget to tell me what to do with my money. In 2014, I
lost my job working in a factory. Now, up to that point, I had never budgeted my
money. I think that was Jesus’s way of getting me to budget my money. In this
article we will go over how to create a budget.

I tell you that brief story because I want to talk about: you guessed it,
budgets. Read Luke 14:28, For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doth not
first sit down and count the cost, whether he have wherewith to complete it? The
Bible talked about budgeting even in biblical times? What this verse is saying
is if you are going to build anything, from a simple shed or building your
financial life. According to the Bible, before you build anything, sit down and
make a plan. It was just like when I was working at my job in a factory. I
didn’t have a plan for my money. I went through life spending as I went. When I
wanted something, I brought it. Let me ask you a question. Would you build a
house without blueprints? Of course not. So why do we go through life without a
plan for our money?

So, what is a budget? A budget tells your money where to go during the month,
that’s it. I love this John Maxwell quote, “A budget is telling your money where
to go, instead of wondering where it went.” That is so true. How do I wish I had
kept some of the money I had made over the years? Having a budget frees up your
money to do the things you want to do with your money. If you are living your
financial life by the seat of your pants, you will gain no traction with your
money. If you are not planning your money every-time you get it, you are
planning to fail with your money, that simple.

How can you create your budget? First, we need to figure out where your money
has been going. Go get your last checking account statement and go over it.
Writing give, save, or spend next to each item you spent your money on. Why
these three words you may ask? We will talk about those words next week. But for
now, give some of your money away, save some of your money, and finally spend
your money. Check out Mint.com for an easy way to track your money, and it’s
free. Check out the post, Budget: Give, Save, Live for next steps.

SAVINGS OPPORTUNITY WITH BALANCE TRANSFER OFFERS

February 3, 2018 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Debt, Finance

Are you trying to pay off your credit card debts only to get frustrated because
you are paying so much in interest every month? Ever wonder if there is a way to
lower that interest? There are two ways to lower your interest rate that you
pay. In this post, I will discuss the two strategies you can take to lower your
interest rate. One strategy is to use a zero percent balance transfer from
another credit card that has no balance. Use the balance transfer offer to pay
off a high rate card. The second strategy is to use a debt consolidation loan to
pay off your credit cards. But first I want to give you a couple of warnings
before I describe how to use these strategies.

THE WARNING

If you want to use one of these strategies to pay off your high interest credit
card. We need to talk about some pitfalls that you could fall into. First,
credit card companies can offer you one of two choices. They may offer balance
transfers either after opening up a new account or they can send you checks in
the mail. First pitfall to avoid, when the check clears your bank and you can
use those funds, use them to only pay off a high interest credit card. Second
pitfall to avoid, you need to remember when the expiration date is on that
offer. Most credit card companies will offer a 12 month or an 18 month balance
transfer offer, so that debt needs to be paid off or moved to another credit
card by the offer expiration date to keep from paying interest.
This next pitfall can happen to someone using balance transfer offers or a debt
consolidation loan to lower their interest. It is moving your debt to a zero
interest credit card or using a debt consolidation loan and then thinking, oh I
can use the credit card again. No, you can’t. You will never get out of debt by
moving the debt and then go out and spend money on the credit cards again.
Please, Please, Please, if you are not willing to stop using credit cards all
together or pay off the balance each month, do not use balance transfer offers
or a consolidation loan. Because you will only end up making matters worse for
you by getting deeper into debt.

THE SOLUTION

First, we will work on the balance transfer offer. Let’s say you have credit
card debt of $10,000 and the interest rate you pay on that card is 21% and your
minimum payment is $200, but let’s say you have $500 a month to pay on your
debt. You will be out of debt in 25 months and you would have paid $12,416 to
the credit card company with $2,416 of that being interest according to the
credit card calculator on Bankrate.com. That’s not bad. But, let’s look at the
balance transfer offer method. Say you can get a balance transfer offer from a
credit card company for zero percent for 12 months, you put the same $10,000 on
that card at zero percent with a three percent balance transfer fee and you
still pay the same $500 a month. You will be debt free of the $10,000 in 21
months and you will only pay around $10,429 in to the credit card company with
$429 in balance transfer fees. You will have saved around $1,987. I want to show
you how much money you could have if you invested that $1,987. According to
investor.gov, if you put that $1,987 into a mutual fund earning 10% a year on
average and left it in there for 30 years, you would have around $34,671!
Next, we’ll discuss the consolidation loan. A consolidation loan is a loan you
take out to pay off all your credit cards. You want to be careful because
sometimes these loans charge fees and sometimes they can charge you more
interest than a credit card, so be on the lookout for these two items. Starting
with our hypothetical situation of $10,000 in debt. Say you can get a
consolidation loan for two years at 7% interest. If this loan of $10,000 has a
monthly payment of $447 a month. At the end of the loan, you will have paid
$10,745 with $745 going to interest. But if you would pay $500 a month to your
consolidation loan, you would have to pay back $10,663 with $663 going to
interest.

CONCLUSION

You have a couple of great ways to help you pay off your debt and avoid paying
21% interest on your credit cards. But I don’t believe there is a one size fits
all solution. Some people may just use balance transfers, and some may have to
get a consolidation loan. Then some may take advantage of both. Just please
remember the pitfalls I mentioned at the beginning of this post. If you would
like more information on consolidation loans, check out this great resource: The
Best Debt Consolidation Loans over at reviews.com.

DISCOVERING JESUS’ BEST FOR YOUR LIFE

September 2, 2017 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Life

I wanted to talk about something I was reading in my Bible this week. You can
read the story in Acts 3:1-8. Peter and John went up together to the temple at
the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother’s
womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called
Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; who, seeing Peter and
John about to go into the temple, asked for money. And fixing his eyes on him
with John, Peter said, “Look at us.” So he gave them his attention, expecting to
receive something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have,
but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up
and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately
his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked
and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.

This man thought he was just going to have an ordinary day just begging in front
of the gate to the temple. When John and Peter told the man to look at them, the
men thought he was going to get some money from Peter and John. But he got so
much more that day. The man got up and walked for the first time in his life. I
think a lot of us think this way about our life. I think a lot of us me included
expect Jesus to provide for our needs, and He will. But what if Jesus wants to
give us an opportunity for something more? Will we accept the opportunity Jesus
gives us like this man did, or will we squander the opportunity?

WILL WE SQUANDER AN OPPORTUNITY

What do I mean when I ask: will we squander an opportunity? I mean, when Jesus
gives us an opportunity for a new job or a fresh experience or an entirely
different career, then what we wanted, do you grab a hold of that opportunity or
do you let it fall right through your hands? Don’t let indecision, fear or
anything hold you back from Jesus’ best for your life. But you may think, I know
what Jesus wants me to do in life, but you say to yourself. I can’t, it’s too
hard, or I will fail. Don’t listen to those thoughts, remember Romans 8:31, What
then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be
against us? Isn’t that awesome? Think about that, we as Christians have the
Creator of the universe and the giver and sustainer of life as our Father and
our Friend.

HOW TO GET OUT OF DEBT

August 6, 2017 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Budget, Debt, Finance

This week, I would like to talk about getting out of debt. Last week, we talked
about what debt is in, debt: what is it. If you didn’t get a change to read it,
read it first. In this post, I will discuss why we are in debt and how to get
out of debt.

WHY ARE WE IN DEBT

That’s the first question we need to ask ourselves. Some reasons we are in debt
are we want to impress other people. We don’t live within our means, or we don’t
have a plan. A credit card can let you spend way beyond your means. If you need
extra money for food this week, put it on the credit card. If you want to watch
a movie and don’t have the money, charge it. Now, the next month, you may have a
$500 credit card bill and you still don’t have enough for food, so the cycle
repeats itself.

HAVE A PLAN

Which leads me to my next point. You don’t have a plan. This one had me trapped
up for years. For years, I was not on a budget. I would pay my bills, then the
rest of the money was for me to spend. That is no way to live your life. So you
need to have a budget. I don’t care if you use Mint, Every Dollar, or pen and
paper, tell your money where to go every time you get paid.

HOW DO WE GET OUT OF DEBT

First, I want to say that getting out of debt in not easy. You may wander into
debt, but you can’t wander out of debt. Jesus revealed this quote to me: if you
are not intentionally or have the desire to get out of debt, you will never be
debt free. With that said, how do we get out of debt? It’s a three step process,
step one, gather all your debt’s together. I am talking all your debt payments:
credit card bills, your mortgage, car payments, loan payments, and medical
payments. Step two, take all your bills and put them in order from the least to
the greatest balance shown on each statement. Then write the name of the bill,
the balance, and the minimum payment on a sheet of paper. Step three, take the
first bill at the top of your paper and pay as much as you can on that bill
until the bill is paid. While making minimum payments on the rest of your debt.
Mark that bill off your list, then go to the next bill on the list. Apply what
you were paying on the first bill to the minimum payment on the second bill.
Once the second bill is paid off, mark that bill off your list and continue the
plan until your debt is paid off.

For example, lets say you have five debt payments, a car payment of $200, your
student loan at $150, cc #1 at $45, cc #2 at $45, and cc #3 at $40. The balance
on the car is $7,500, your student loan is $10,000, cc #1 is $6,500, cc #2 is
$4,000, and cc #3 is $2,000. So let’s put those in the order of least to
greatest according to the balance owed on them. The first figure is the balance
of the loans, the second figure is the minimum payment.

 * CC #3 $2,000, payment $40
 * CC #2 $4,000, payment $45
 * CC #1 $6,500, payment $60
 * Car $7,500, payment $200
 * Student loan $10,000, payment $150

So there, we have the our debt in the correct order, so let’s say you can pay an
extra $100 a month to CC #3. So you pay $140 a month to CC #3 and the minimum
payment to the rest of your debt. Once you get CC #3 paid off, mark it off your
list and move on to CC #2. Your new payment for CC #2 is $185. We get that by
adding the old minimum payment of CC #3 of $140 plus the minimum payment of CC#2
of $45 ($140+45=$185.) So your new minimum payment for CC #2 is $185. So when
you get CC #2 paid off, mark it off your list and continue down your list of
debt’s. Remember to add the payment you were making to the previous bill to the
minimum payment of your next bill. When you start paying on your last bill which
is the student loan, do you know how much you will be paying each month? You
will be paying $495 every month, now that a far cry from $140 a month you were
paying on CC #3 at the beginning.

WHAT IS DEBT

July 29, 2017 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Debt, Finance

What is debt? I am sure some people can make debt work for them, but I don’t
think the average person can use debt to their advantage. Just like this post’s
picture, when you send money to a credit card company every month, I think it’s
just as bad as burning your money.  I believe there are two definition of what
debt is, they are:

 * Debt is a slave
 * Debt is a prison

THE PROBLEM

First, lets start off with debt is a slave. Why would I say debt is a slave,
because it says so in the Bible. In Proverbs 22:7, it says “The rich rule over
the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” When you are in debt, any
kind of debt, whether it’s a mortgage, car loan, credit cards or student loans
you are actually in a prison. When you enter into that relationship, you as the
borrower are the slave, and the bank or credit card company is the lender. It’s
kind of like a master and slave relationship, the bank is the master and you are
the slave and just like in that relationship, the slave can really not do
anything he or she wants to.

Second, debt is a prison. Why would I say debt is a prison? Think about it, can
a pensioner, go out to eat, go watch a movie with friends, or go on vacation?
Let me ask you, do you think a person can do those things if a person is up to
their eyeballs in debt?  Let’s talk about the Smith family, the dad makes $3,000
a month. They have to pay their taxes which is $750, their tithe is $300, their
house payment is $500. They still have student loans from 5 years ago, that
$170, then there two car payments which equal $400.  They have 5 credit cards
totaling $350.  After all payments have been made, they would have $530 left to
spend for that month. That’s a lot of payments, and I haven’t even taken out for
food, gas or savings.

You may be thinking, but you were talking about debt being a prison, then you
have gone off and rattled these numbers off to us. Hang on, I’ll get to that in
a second. The student loans plus the cars, plus the five credit cards total
$920. So this family is sending over $900 every month to the banks every month.
Imagine what you could do with $900 every month because you had no bills besides
your mortgage. Now I like Disney a lot, I could take a nice trip to Disney in 4
to 5 months and not have to worry about paying off the trip because I saved the
money to go versus charging the vacation to a credit card and then take a year
to pay the trip off. This is what I mean by debt being a prison. When you are
giving other people your hard-earned money, you can’t live free.  Learn more
about how to attack your debt next week.

P.S.  This is the first post about finances for this blog.  I want to teach
people how to handle there finances more efficiently so we can give, invest for
the feature, and live a life free of debt.

IS JESUS NOT TALKING TO YOU?

July 23, 2017March 3, 2023 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Life

Do you ever feel that Jesus does not speak to you? I know I have.  Have you
prayed for something for so long and Jesus is not answering you?  Why would
Jesus not speak to us?  I believe there are three reasons that Jesus does not
speak to us.

 * We do not pray
 * We do not read our Bible
 * We have sin in our life’s or we are playing with temptation

THE DILEMMA

First, why don’t we pray? We get busy with life, I know that is a big one for
many people. We need to find time to talk with Jesus every day. It says in
Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all
these things shall be added to you.”  It says seek first the kingdom of God, so
I believe we need to start each day talking with Jesus, something I need to work
on.  Now, I now some of you are thinking to yourself, but I can pray to Jesus
anytime I want to.  That’s true, but I think it is wise to talk to Jesus at some
point at the beginning of every day.

Second, why don’t we read our Bible?  I believe again, we get to busy with our
daily life.  As with talking to Jesus through prayer, we need to listen to Him
by reading the Bible.  It says in Psalms 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my
feet And a light to my path.”‘  Let me ask you a question, if you get up in the
middle of the night, don’t you have night lights in  the hallway or in another
room?  I hope so because if you don’t have them you would be tripping over
anything and everything in the hallway.  It’s just like in out own life, if we
don’t read the Bible, our light for our life is not going to be very bright.
Its also says in Matthew 4:4, “But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man
shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of
God.””  Jesus knows we need food to survive, but we also need the sustenance the
Bible provides.  If you don’t have enough to eat or eat the wrong kind of foods
your body will suffer.  When we don’t read our Bible and study it, our spiritual
life will begin to suffer.

Third, we have sin in our lives.  Don’t get me wrong, we will fall once in
awhile but you need to get back up, confess it and move on with your life.  If
you have sin in your life and don’t confess it, that’s like living your life in
a prison.  Only you can want out of that prison, no one else can do it for you.
Then you can play with temptation.  What do I mean by saying you can play with
temptation?  What I mean is the devil comes to tempt you and you don’t deal with
it right then and there by asking Jesus to remove the temptation.  Like it says
in James 4:7, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from
you.”  If you resist the devil by praying to Jesus for deliverance, the devil
will flee from you.

These are three things I believe that will keep us from hearing Jesus’ voice.
How can we expect a holy, loving, merciful and gracious God to talk to us if we
don’t pray?  We don’t read our Bible or we have sin in our lives or are playing
with temptation.

HOW TO CHANGE

We begin the process of change right where we are Jesus will meet us where we
are in life and help us.  You need to pray to Jesus to help you with these areas
in your life.  If you are ready to change, Jesus will help you.  Just start
praying 5 minutes a day to Jesus, you may do it right after you get up or you
may do it while you are driving to work.  To start reading your Bible, there is
a great app for that, its called Youversion.  Just go to Bible.com and make an
account.  There you can save your favorite Bible verses and join other people
reading the Bible.  One of my favorite features is the plans feature which
includes hundreds of reading plans for almost every aspect of life.

How to change about having sin in your life, you need to talk to Jesus about
that one.  You have to ask Jesus’ forgiveness for your sin and He will forgive
it and never remember your sin any more.  You may be thinking, but Todd you
don’t know what I have done.  It doesn’t matter what you have done, Jesus will
forgive you.

SALVATION

This post was written for the Christian that can’t hear Jesus in his or her
life.  But I want to give a non-Christian a chance to repent and turn his or her
life back to Jesus.  We all have fallen away from God, we only have one hope to
return to Him.  That hope is found in Jesus.  To know more about salvation read
my post entitled Will their be Guest Parking in Heaven or read the Salvation
page to get more information.

Thanks for reading, I would love to know your thoughts on this article, please

WILL THERE BE GUEST PARKING IN HEAVEN?

July 9, 2017March 3, 2023 by yourlifeyourmoney, posted in Life

Have you ever been to a store or a restaurant with parking spaces for employees
of the month? The rest of the parking spaces are for guest of that store or
restaurant. But the designated spots are for somebody. It’s just like in Heaven.
Christians will have their own parking spot (if we drive cars) in Heaven. But
will there be guest parking spots in Heaven?

THE PROBLEM

In the beginning, God created everything we see around us, but Adam and Eve
ruined it for the entire world by eating fruit from the Tree of Knowledge.
Because of Adam and Eve’s sin, God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden
and every person in this world is now separated from God.

But God, in His love and mercy, made a way for us through His Son Jesus. Jesus
says in John 14:6 that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to
the Father except through Him. So that tells me we can do nothing on our own to
get to God. We can’t give enough money, volunteer enough, or do enough good
works to get us to heaven. Now, I know in our day and time that is not a
politically correct statement, but it’s the truth.

WHAT DID JESUS FREE US FROM?

Jesus frees us from three things.

 * Jesus frees us from death
 * Jesus frees us from fear
 * Jesus frees us from sin

Why did Jesus free us from these three things? First, we were dead in our sin,
separated from God the Father forever. In Romans 8:1-2, “There is therefore now
no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to
the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in
Christ, Jesus has made you free from the law of sin and death.” If Jesus did not
die for us, we would have spent eternity in Hell. But Jesus paid the price for
us so we can stand before God, the Father, as a spotless lamb. Second, Jesus
freed us from fear. In John 8:36, “Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you
shall be free indeed.” We all have fears in our life, Christians and
non-Christians alike. Fear is like carrying a backpack of rocks around. Fear
does nothing for us, it only holds us back from our true potential. Like it said
in John 8:36, if you are a Christian, you are free because Jesus paid the cost,
so leave the backpack behind and live a life free of fear. Check out our post,
How to overcome Fear with Faith to learn more. Third, Jesus freed us from our
sin. No, that doesn’t mean that we won’t ever sin again, it just means we are no
longer a slave to sin any longer. If you are a Christian and the devil tempts
you, you have the freedom in Jesus to say no. Our sin does not condemn us any
longer. You may ask, why is salvation necessary anyway? Salvation is necessary
because every single person born into this world is a sinner. The only way to be
saved is to accept Jesus as your savior.

THE ANSWER

So the answer to the question, will there be guest parking spots in Heaven? I do
not believe there will be guest parking in Heaven. The only parking spots in
Heaven will be for the people that have trusted Jesus as their savior. You need
to be saved in order to have your own parking sport in Heaven. Because Jesus
said in Romans 10:13, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be
saved.” Please don’t think that you can get saved at a later time. Jesus never
promised us tomorrow. When you die, that’s it, there are no second changes or do
overs. At the judgment seat of Christ, you will stand condemned for your own
sins and spend an eternity in Hell.
