The Montgomery County Music Teachers Association (MCMTA) mission is to provide
the highest quality of private musical instruction for students and enrichment
for teachers. Our teachers are trained musicians who love communicating their
art and expertise to others.
MCMTA is a non-profit organization of independent music teachers representing
private music teachers of all instruments. We are affiliated with the Maryland
State Music Teachers Association (MSMTA) and the Music Teacher National
Association (MTNA).
MCMTA was founded in 1965 and has since grown to be the largest chapter of the
MTNA in Maryland. Our enrichment programs for both students and teachers
include:

 * Monthly meetings with a presentation by a noted guest
 * Competitive, non-competitive, adjudicated, and themed student events
 * Annual scholarship competitions for both piano and strings
 * MCMTA participates in the MSMTA Theory and Keyboard exams
 * The Margaret E. Weissenfluh Grant for students in need of financial
   assistance
 * Grants for continuing education for teachers
 * College scholarship for graduating high school seniors

MCMTA members include qualified private instructors in various settings, from
home studios to community music schools, colleges, and universities. Our
membership also includes published composers and authors. Additionally, our
teachers perform, lecture, and judge at state, national, and international
levels.
