The Thrift Store and Boutique of Helping Hands is more than just a great place
to find fashionable apparel and trendy home décor.
Every time you shop or donate to the store, a door of opportunity is opened for
a neighbor in need.
VIEW OUR DONATION GUIDELINES
Our ability to accept donations is limited based on weather conditions. Please
call 972-771-1655 for information about donations, drop-offs, and pickups.

The Boutique, located in front of the thrift store, is filled with high-end
collectibles and boutique-style treasures. From furniture and household goods to
gently used clothing, the stores are fully stocked all of the time. You’ll never
know what you’ll find!

VOLUNTEER OPTIONS
Thanks to our generous community, volunteers gave more than 8,000 hours to the
Thrift Store last year. Thank you for sharing the vision and mission to make
Rockwall County a better place. We depend on our generous volunteers to keep the
Thrift Store and Boutique running.
Thrift Store Volunteer Tasks include:
* Customer Service: Assisting customers with merchandise on sales floor
* Receiving: Assisting with the intake of donations
* Organizing and Sorting: Assisting with organizing, testing and sorting new
donations for the sales floor
* Sales Floor: Assisting staff on the sales floor with organizing, cleaning and
merchandising
VOLUNTEER HERE
***If you need to perform court-ordered community service hours, do not fill out
a volunteer application. Court-ordered community service hours do not need to
be scheduled and you may come anytime during the Thrift Store operational hours
to complete. Please call 972/771-1655 with any questions.

The Thrift Store and Boutique generate 35% of the operating budget for the
Rockwall Helping Hands Agency. The large majority of that is earned through
sales of donated items in the stores. A small but vital portion is earned
through our substantial Recycling Program. We work with independent vendors who
purchase the items that we cannot sell in the stores.
Last year, we sold to our vendors over one million pounds of excess clothing,
shoes, and linens; more than 200 trailer loads of excess household items; and
thousands of scrap metal pounds. While this brings in only a fraction of our
income, it helps most items that count toward our goals of supporting the
Rockwall County citizens in need and providing a small community service.
However, we also had to pay more than $3000 to take weekly loads of unsellable
furniture and other large items to the landfill. This included damaged items
dumped on the property after hours and other items discovered to be incomplete,
damaged, badly stained, or inoperable after donation. Please help us put every
possible dollar back into the community.
WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING ITEMS THAT CANNOT BE SOLD OR RECYCLED:
* Construction debris, including wall-to-wall carpeting or hard surface
flooring materials
* Hazardous waste (lead, acid batteries, paints, fuels, solvents, oils,
mercury, or equipment containing these)
* Household or industrial chemicals (or equipment containing these)
* Stained, soiled, or damaged mattresses
* Tires
* Box TVs and projection TVs of any size
* Any broken, stained, wet, or damaged furniture
