INDUSTRY 4.0: PRACTICAL INSIGHTS FOR OUR STUDENTS

An innovative "Industry 4.0" system has recently been added to the machine hall
at Hof University. It provides students with a practical insight into the topic
of Industry 4.0 and optimum preparation for their future careers. Prof. Dr.
Heike Markus, Head of the Master in Operational Excellence, explains what it is
all about.

COOPERATION AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH UNIVERSIDADE DE SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL

During the International Teaching Week, a new cooperation agreement was signed
with the renowned Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil. At Hof University, the
agreement will initially affect the Engineering Department in the area of
student exchange. We were able to talk to Dean Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anke Müller and
Prof. Dr. Christoph Koch, who maintains good contacts with the USP and is the
initiator of the cooperation, about the goals of the agreement.

EXCELLENT RESULTS IN THE CHE RANKING 2023

The newspaper DIE ZEIT publishes the latest results of the university ranking
from the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), which is considered one
of the most renowned rankings in the field of studies and thus an important
source of information for prospective students, in its study guide 2023/24 and
on the internet portal HeyStudium.de. In addition to facts in the areas of
study, teaching and research, the ranking includes numerous judgments by
students on the study conditions of various degree programs. Hof University of
Applied Sciences received excellent ratings for 5 fields of study.

Comprehensive support before and during studies

According to the survey, Hof University is particularly praised for its contact
with professional practice during the bachelor's program, the support provided
by lecturers, the career orientation programs, and the support provided at the
beginning of the program and during the course of study. But also the
laboratories and workshops such as the "MakerSpace" of the Hof University of
Applied Sciences, a workshop for tinkering and inventing, are highly appreciated
by the students.

“IWE” AND “INWA” MOVE TO REPLACE THE INSTITUTE FOR WATER AND ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Strong growth in the research sector is leading to a significant change at Hof
University: The former Institute for Water and Energy Management at Hof
University of Applied Sciences (iwe) will in future be split into two institutes
with future-relevant focal points: While the Institute for Hydrogen and Energy
Technology will retain the short form “iwe”, the new Institute for Sustainable
Water Systems will in future operate under the name “inwa”. The split into two
institutes is also intended to provide a clear focus for researchers.

Hof, 18.01.2023 -  Hof University of Applied Sciences is the most popular
university in Germany and receives the best grades for its teaching. This
emerges from the ranking published today by the renowned internet portal
Studycheck.de. In the nationwide comparison among a total of 512 universities,
the Upper Franconian educational institution with its campuses in Hof,
Münchberg, Kronach and Selb achieved the best rating by current and former
students.
