Trust. At work, trust impacts how we interact with our managers, our customers and clients, and even our company as a whole. With trust comes productivity and better collaboration. Without it, a workplace will struggle to thrive. Consider the core components of trust: integrity follow-through consistency loyalty openness High levels of trust have a whole host of benefits, from improved engagement, confidence, and courage to lower stress levels, fewer sick days, and a decreased risk of burnout. The sum of many different parts, trust can feel a bit hard to define. To understand it better, cognitive scientist Dr. Paul Thagard says trust can mean any one—or any combination of—these four traits: being dependable and knowing you can depend on others a belief that others will act in a predictable manner an understanding that someone will follow through on certain actions if you ask feeling confident and secure that someone else cares Take Action: As the saying goes: “Actions speak louder than words.” But sometimes the words matter, too.
