Skip to content OUR MISSION: TO ENSURE THE RIVERS AND STREAMS OF IDAHO RUN COOL, CLEAR, AND CLEAN FOR COMMUNITIES AND PEOPLE THAT DEPEND ON IT. OUR PURPOSE The purpose of our projects are about cleaning streams and rivers of pollutants using Activated Wetlands™️️, constructed natural wetlands, on or near waterways in Idaho. Over the last century, streams and rivers have become polluted with sediment, nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus), bacteria, and a host of other chemicals and minerals. The Clean Water Act, established in the 1970s, did much to alleviate this water pollution, especially from discrete discharges (point sources). However, there is still much work to be done to remove pollutants from the landscape that arrive to the stream from farm and urban run-off (non-point sources). The process utilizes Water Quality Trading, itself a regulated process, to remove pollutants created by unregulated non-point sources of pollution and to help regulated point sources meet their discharge goals in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The process also provides substantial environmental benefits outside of pollutant trading including the creation of aquatic ecological functions, increased wildlife habitat, increased pollinator habitat, and the restoration of floodplain function.
