GLOBAL SOIL MUSEUM NETWORK

The Global Soil Museum Network is a collection of organizations who display soil
and teach about its properties and importance to the general public.

Soils play a key role in sustaining human life and our planet's ecosystems.
Soils:

 * support plant growth and food production
 * filter and store water
 * interact with the atmosphere and are important to climate change mitigation,
   and
 * act as a natural archive, preserving information about the past which can
   inform the future.

Soil museums, education centres, exhibits, and collections of soil samples are
invaluable resources for accessing soil information and communicating the beauty
and importance of the belowground part of natural and agricultural systems.

The Global Soil Museum Network promotes a wider understanding of soil by
providing a supportive and collaborative space for organizations who exhibit and
teach about soils. Learn about our purpose in this draft mandate document. Read
below about how to join the network!
