TRUMP RIPS LINDSEY GRAHAM AFTER CRITIQUE OF ABORTION STANCE, SAYS SENATOR SHOULD
FOCUS ON ‘NON-EXISTENT BORDER’

Former President Donald Trump went after Sen. Lindsey Graham Monday for knocking
Trump’s stance on abortion, saying that “Democrats are thrilled” with Graham
pushing a federal ban on the procedure.

Trump, 77, rebuked his ally on Truth Social hours after Graham (R-SC) said he
would “continue to advocate that there should be a national minimum standard
limiting abortion at fifteen weeks.”

“Senator Lindsey Graham should spend more time focusing on all of the many
people being killed because of our now non-existent Border, and the millions of
people dying in senseless, never-ending Wars that he constantly favors and
promotes, and should spend less time on taking away our Great Roe v. Wade
Victory of sending a complicated and controversial Issue back to the States
where, according to Highly Respected Legal Scholars on both sides, it belongs,”
Trump said.

“The Democrats are thrilled with Lindsey, because they want this Issue to simmer
for as long a period of time as possible,” the 45th president went on.

“They are destroying our Country, and they don’t want to talk about Inflation, a
Bad Economy, the Horrible Open Border, Rigged Elections, Afghanistan,
Ukraine/Russia, or the Attack on Israel, all of which would never have happened
if I were President. Great job Lindsey!”

Graham, 68, went out on a limb to propose a federal ban on most abortions after
15 weeks — with exceptions for rape, incest or risks to the life or health of
the mother — just months after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June
2022.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) rebuked his colleague at the
time, telling reporters that “most of the members of my conference prefer that
this be dealt with at the state level.”

Democrats made use of the proposal in their messaging ahead of the 2022
midterms, in which Republicans underperformed expectations by failing to retake
the Senate and only narrowly winning control of the House of Representatives

Following the midterms, Graham acknowledged to the Wall Street Journal that
abortion may have led to a poor showing “in some places,” while pointing to
pro-life Republicans, like Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who still eked out wins in
competitive races.

“The Democrats are thrilled with Lindsey, because they want this Issue to simmer
for as long a period of time as possible,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on
Monday.

Graham has remained undaunted in his call for federal legislation to reign in
abortion — even after Trump said Monday that the matter sits “where everyone
wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or
legislation, or perhaps both.”

“I respectfully disagree with President Trump’s statement that abortion is a
states’ rights issue,” Graham wrote a few hours later in a post on X.

“Dobbs does not require that conclusion legally and the pro-life movement has
always been about the wellbeing of the unborn child — not geography,” he said.

“The states’ rights only rationale today runs contrary to an American consensus
that would limit late-term abortions and will age about as well as the Dred
Scott decision,” he added. “The science is clear – a child at fifteen weeks is
well-developed and is capable of feeling pain.”

Graham further announced he would move forward with a new bill to “provide
anesthesia to an unborn child facing an abortion at fifteen weeks because they
can feel pain.”

“Forty-seven of fifty European nations have national limits on abortion between
twelve and fifteen weeks,” he affirmed. “This is the civilized world’s
position.”
