To be fair, if I was in a room with someone who had wings, I'd probably want to
touch them as well.

Now why do I have a feeling that the answer to Aster's question in the last

Mostly references - I have not sailed one myself (my spouse said I am "not
allowed to go to sea for three months", for some reason) but here is one that I
have personally visited and roamed around on, in a magical museum:



I also build little model ones! right now I'm making OCCRE's Albatros!

It is very helpful looking at ship plans and seeing scale in person! Research is
good.
