Customers around the world use HubSpot every day to grow their businesses. That’s why we take pride in building software that’s reliable, fast, and delightful to use. If you want to work with new technologies in an environment that challenges you to do your best work, you’ve come to the right place. OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES. We're passionate about creating a culture where every engineer, designer, product manager, and UX researcher have real impact. These are the beliefs we live and work by. SMALL TEAMS WIN We work in small, autonomous teams (around 5 people). That way, you own product decisions and can move faster to solve for the customer. CUSTOMERS COME FIRST We constantly ask ourselves: Is this creating value for our users? Having empathy and understanding the customer's perspective is everyone's job. MOVE QUICKLY & ITERATE We live by the saying ship fast, learn faster. We'll never get everything right on the first try, but we learn from our experiences and grow better every day. AMAZING INTERNAL TOOLING MATTERS We make serious investments in developer productivity. We have teams dedicated to reliability, tooling, and reusable components on both the front- and back-end. ALWAYS BE LEARNING From weekly tech talks to 1:1 mentoring, we're constantly helping each other become the best product people (and humans) we can be. MEET THE TEAM. We aren't just product people. We're musicians. We're parents. We're rock climbers. We're building a team made of different perspectives and experiences — that's how we'll create a product that's reflective of our diverse customer base around the world. * HEAR FROM LAURA Senior Engineering Manager * HEAR FROM CHRIS VP, Product * HEAR FROM NADIA VP, Engineering * HEAR FROM MOHIT Senior Director, Engineering * HEAR FROM GRAINNE Principal Product Designer * HEAR FROM SIMON Senior Software Engineer II * * * * LEARN WITH US. I really like karaoke. A lot more than I should given that I am not a good singer. What team within Product are you on, and what does the team work on? I work on the SEO team, which is part of the Content Product Group. We build tools to help customers get found on search. This includes things like: a site audit tool which scans a customer's website and gives recommendations for how to improve SEO; an in-editor optimization tool, to help people optimize their content as they write; a Google Search Console integration to give people visibility into the effectiveness of their SEO efforts; a tool to help organize and link content together around topics in a way that boosts authority and helps SEO; and several others (and a lot more to come!) When people ask you what it's like to work on HubSpot's Product team, how do you describe it? I have been here for 7 years and have always felt that there are more tough problems to solve, more impact I can have, and all the support I need to do those things. Whether those are product, technical or human challenges, there are always new things to learn. What's something you've worked on at HubSpot that you're proud of? I'm really proud of the work I've done to help engineers grow and develop and be successful at HubSpot. Chris Miller VP, Product Cambridge Meet Chris What's one thing most people don't know about you? I haven't lost a Connect 4 match in over 15 years. What team within Product are you on, and what does the team work on? I'm on the Growth team and our mission is to help people discover the value of the HubSpot platform, no matter what their software budget is. We're responsible for the signup experience, onboarding and the in-app buying journey. When people ask you what it's like to work on HubSpot's Product team, how do you describe it? Every day is a new experience and there's no shortage of challenging problems to solve. Working on HubSpot's Product team feels unique in that everyone has the opportunity to have outsized impact. I can honestly say I've never experienced a moment where I was "bored," or uninspired by the work I was doing. What's something you've worked on at HubSpot that you're proud of? We've worked to make more and more of the HubSpot platform freemium, meaning more businesses have gotten to see value from our software with no up front commitment and it's been amazing to watch this fuel both our customers' growth as well as HubSpot's own growth. Anything else you want to add that candidates may want to know? HubSpot is a place that genuinely understands work-life balance. Our customers, the teams, and the company suffers when our best and brightest burn out! Nadia Alramli VP, Engineering Dublin Meet Nadia What's one thing most people don't know about you? I trained a squirrel to visit my house through the window every day, her name is Cookie :) What team within Product are you on, and what does the team work on? I'm responsible for the Campaigns group. Our mission is to help marketing teams attract and engage with their audiences, wherever they live online. When people ask you what it's like to work on HubSpot's Product team, how do you describe it? The energy is contagious. I'm surrounded with people who love what they do and do it well. I wake up every day excited to go to work. I love it here! What's something you've worked on at HubSpot that you're proud of? Before starting my Director role, I spent my first 6 months working as software engineer on 8 different teams (2-3 weeks on each team). It was an amazing experience where I got to contribute to various improvements and features on each project. (Read more about Nadia's onboarding experience.) Anything else you want to add that candidates may want to know? Read the HubSpot Culture Code. If you like our Culture Code, you would love it here. Mohit Dilawari Senior Director, Engineering Cambridge Meet Mohit What's one thing most people don't know about you? I am an avid traveller and grew up in Canada. What team within Product are you on, and what does the team work on? Reporting Product Group - We help our customers understand their key metrics. As part of this mission, we own the frameworks that ingest and store the billions of events and the reports/visualization of these events. When people ask you what it's like to work on HubSpot's Product team, how do you describe it? I love it. There is a good mix of challenging work and ambitious missions, but we still have fun, and nobody takes themselves too seriously. I love that everyone is given the autonomy to solve these big problems. What's something you've worked on at HubSpot that you're proud of? I came in as a leader, which means I defer my management responsibility for the first six months and focus on shipping code. The SVPE wrote a great blog post on the process. I was able to ship changes to our funnel reports within the first week of being here. Since then, I have shipped multiple features across the stack. Anything else you want to add that candidates may want to know? There is a high caliber of smart engineers at HubSpot that everyone can learn from. Grainne Smith Principal Product Designer Dublin Meet Grainne What's one thing most people don't know about you? Before studying design I studied Culinary Arts as I wanted to be a chef. Now I just bake when I'm stressed as a coping mechanism which is funny because I dropped out of Culinary Arts because I found it too stressful! What team within Product are you on, and what does the team work on? I'm on the Marketing Email product team. Our mission is to make it as simple and delightful as possible for our users to send engaging emails to their recipients. When people ask you what it's like to work on HubSpot's Product team, how do you describe it? It's extremely rewarding. My favorite thing about HubSpot is how in tune our product team is with our customers. If we ship something that our customers love we hear about it immediately which is always really encouraging for our team. Equally, if we ship something our customers dislike we get feedback quickly and can iterate on it immediately so we're constantly improving our product based on customer feedback. Our customers are highly engaged so they're always more than willing to give us feedback on what they like/dislike and why. (Read Grainne's blog post about Customer Empathy Sessions.) What's something you've worked on at HubSpot that you're proud of? The drag and drop email editor. Simon Ever-Hale Senior Software Engineer II Cambridge Meet Simon What's one thing most people don't know about you? My first job was in middle school, DJing bar mitzvahs with a friend. What team within Product are you on, and what does the team work on? I'm on the CRM Reporting Backend team, we power lists and cross object reporting. Lists are used in many places in HubSpot - for email sends, workflow enrollment and NPS surveys, as well as the lists tool itself, to name a few. We own the backend behind the filtering in these tools. When people ask you what it's like to work on HubSpot's Product team, how do you describe it? Working on HubSpot's Product team means learning quickly and constantly, and getting to work on the most interesting and complex problems I've seen. It means having equal (and large) amounts of responsibility, autonomy, and support, and working with incredibly smart engineers to build things that improve our customers' experience. What's something you've worked on at HubSpot that you're proud of? I built some monitoring tooling to give us better at-a-glance insight into the state of the CRM. It's used by many engineers now, and has saved us hours of debugging. Anything else you want to add that candidates may want to know? In the last month, I've averaged 0.85 meetings and a little over 8 hours at work per day. Technologies I work with most often are Java, MySQL, ElasticSearch, HBase and Kafka.
