ABOUT THE HIGH COMMISSIONER

A Fellow of the Nigeria Chartered Institute of Management (FCIM), His
Excellency, Amb. Henry John Omaku was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. John
Ose Omaku of the Famous Oshatta Omaku Oboshi (Late Galadiman Doma) family in
Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. He attended RCM Primary
School Doma and later completed his primary education at LGEA Primary School
Tudun Wada, Jos.

Henry John Omaku started his secondary education at Government Secondary School
Tudun Wada Jos, and later moved to Government College Jengre in Bassa Local
Government Area of Plateau State where he completed and obtained his WAEC/SSCE.

In his quest to attain higher western education, Henry John Omaku was admitted
into one of the greatest citadel of academic excellence in Nigeria; the Nasarawa
State University Keffi (NSUK) Nigeria, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science
degree in Political Science, a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration
and a Master’s in Public Administration. His search for more knowledge led him
into securing another admission at the Benue State University, Makurdi where he
successfully completed his course work for another Masters of Science degree in
Political Science.

Amb. Henry John Omaku (FCIM), started his working career with STOP CANCER
FOUNDATION, an Abuja based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) as a Program
Manager and later worked in AGABI FOUNDATION in Lafia, also as a Program Manager
His desire for selfless service to humanity and for touching lives positively
endeared him into politics in order to have better opportunities of actualizing
his dreams. This indeed was actualized in 2014 when he contested and won
election as the Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa
State. After a successful tenure as the Executive Chairman of Doma Local
Government Area, His Excellency, the Governor of Nasarawa State Umaru Tanko
Almakura, appointed Amb. Henry John Omaku as a Commissioner into the Nasarawa
State Local Government Service Commission, Lafia. As the saying goes, the reward
for hard work is more work. Satisfied with his performance, the then Governor of
Nasarawa State again appointed Henry John Omaku as the Chairman of Nasarawa
State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), a position he justified by
conducting one of the best and hitch free local government election in the
history of the state electoral umpire.

As a consummate and highly experienced new breed political socialite with a deep
commitment and unravelled passion for grass root development, a generous and
promising Henry John Omaku has always stood out among his contemporaries and has
never allowed the trappings and grandeur of his youthfulness to stand between
him and his avowed goals of lifting up the people from the shackles of poverty
and underdevelopment. Driven by an almost missionary zeal in ensuring the
political, economic and social liberation of his people, a steadfast Henry John
Omaku has always seen his primary vocation in the socio-political arena as being
one of service, duty, benevolence and charity towards his people and in this
regards, he has delivered his good intentions by using available opportunities
to improve the lots of his People. His Excellency, Henry John Omaku (fcim), is
currently the Nigeria High Commissioner to the Republic of Sierra Leone. He is
happily married to his beloved wife Roseline Henry Omaku and blessed with
children.
