PLENARY SPEAKERS Serge Cosnier Grenoble Alpes University France >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY Dr. Serge Cosnier is currently the Research Director of an exceptional class at CNRS at the Grenoble Alpes University (France) and the scientific director of the POLYNAT Carnot Institute. He received his doctoral degree in Chemistry from the Toulouse university (1982) and was an Alexander von Humbold postdoctoral fellow at the university of Munich, Germany. He is member of the Council of the Bioelectrochemical Society (2016-2023) and serves as Editor of Bioelectrochemistry, Specialty Chief Editor of Frontiers in Analytical Chemistry, and Commissioning Editor for Electroanalysis. Dr. Cosnier’s activity is focused on molecular electrochemistry and bioelectrochemistry with the development of electrode materials whose applications include analytical chemistry with biological sensors (enzyme electrodes, immunosensors, aptasensors, and DNA sensors), electrocatalysis, electrochemical biomimetic systems and energy conversion (biofuel cells and abiotic fuel cells). He has developed innovative conceptual advances in the field of electrogenerated organic polymers, inorganic nanostructured materials, and 3D nanostructured electrode materials based on carbon nanotubes Dr. Cosnier has authored over 374 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 66). In 2009, he received the Katsumi Niki Prize of the International Society of Electrochemistry and was appointed as Fellow of this Society in 2010. In 2013, Dr Cosnier became a member of the Academia Europaea and was awarded in 2015 Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Cluj-Napoca (Romania). Finally, he was elected member of the European Academy of Sciences (EurASc) in 2019 and a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering in 2021. Alain Celzard University of Lorraine France >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY Alain Celzard obtained his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering in 1995 on a confidential-defense topic related to carbon-based composites for radar stealth. Recruited as the youngest lecturer of his academy in 1996, he worked at the Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry of Nancy (France) on all kinds of carbonaceous materials and taught for 9 years at the Faculty of Sciences & Techniques of Nancy. After obtaining a habilitation to direct research in 2002, he was appointed full professor at the age of 34 and took a position at the ENSTIB engineering school, specially created to set up new activities related to bio-based materials. There he founded a branch of his laboratory in 2005, which became the "Bio sourced Materials" team of the Institut Jean Lamour (IJL) in 2012. The IJL is currently one of the largest European laboratories dedicated to materials science. At the end of 2017, he left the leadership of the team to become head of one of the 4 scientific departments of the IJL, which currently has 7 research teams with a wide range of activities, from nanomaterials for health to embedded electronics, biomaterials, microsystems and metamaterials. Alain Celzard develops a global approach to the study of materials for energy, environmental and electromagnetic applications: synthesis, characterization, properties, modeling, and integration. He also conducts fundamental research on complex, disordered and/or porous heterogeneous systems, including their optimization for various applications. This work has allowed him to (co-)write about 400 publications and book chapters and 8 patents and has earned him the title of junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France, as well as 3 national prizes including 2 first prizes, and 2 international prizes. He is now director of a joint laboratory with a major producer of activated carbons and biochars. David J. Moss Swinburne University of Technology Australia >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY David J. Moss is the Director of the Optical Sciences Centre at the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, since 2016. He was with RMIT University in Melbourne, 2014-16, the University of Sydney 2004 - 14, and was a senior manager and scientist with JDS Uniphase in Ottawa Canada from 1998-2003. From 1994-98 he was a Senior Research Fellow with the Optical Fiber Technology Centre at Sydney University prior to which he was a visiting Scientist with Hitachi Central Research Laboratories in Tokyo, Japan,1992-94. From 1988-92 was with the National Research Council of Canada in Ottawa. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in Physics and BSc from the University of Waterloo. He won the 2011 Australian Museum Eureka Science Prize and Google Australia Prize for Innovation in Computer Science. He is a Fellow of the IEEE Photonics Society, the OSA (now the Optica Society), and the SPIE (International Photonics Society). His research interests include optical micro combs, integrated nonlinear optics, quantum optics, microwave photonics, optical neural networks, optical networks and transmission, 2D materials including graphene oxide for nonlinear optics, optical signal processing, nanophotonics, biomedical photonics for cancer diagnosis and therapy, and other areas. Redouane Borsali PolyNat Carnot Institute France >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY Redouane Borsali is an Director of PolyNat Carnot Institute (from 2011 –until today) gathering 8 Laboratories Grenoble (400 Persons) “High-added Value for, innovative, functional, biosourced and flexible Materials”, Group Leader (from 2010-until today) – (15-20 persons) “Self-Assembly of Block copolymer systems: Nanoparticles and Thin Films” (CNRS) and Co-Director of Green Material Institute, NTU, Taipei, Taiwan since 2021. He received his Ph.D. at Dalhousie University, Canada in 1984, DSc at the University of New South Wales in 1998 and was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering in 1994. He was awarded the Australian Government’s Centenary Medal in 2003 and Medal of Australian Order of Member in 2019 for his contribution to materials science and engineering by Governer of General, multiple Australian Professorial Fellowships from 1993 to 2011, the Vice-Chancellors Senior Excellence Award in 2008, Outstanding Partnership Award in 2012, the ASTS Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018, one of top five Lifetime Achievers in physical science in Australia in 2020 and global leader in electrochemistry, nanotechnology, and materials engineering in 2021 by Australian Research Magazine, the ICMC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. He is named as a highly cited researcher in materials science by Thomson Reuters from 2018 to 2020 and double highly cited researcher in chemistry and materials science in 2021, with citations of 66,000 and an h-index of 118 (Scopus). His research focuses on energy and electronic materials. He has supervised and co-supervised 100 Ph.D. students, more than 60 postdoctoral and visiting fellows. He is program leader for Auto CRC 2020 on electrification program and the ongoing ARENA 2016-2021 on smart sodium storage system program. Shaobin Wang University of Adelaide Australia >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY Prof. Shaobin Wang obtained the degrees of BSc and MSc in Chemistry from Peking University and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Queensland. He has been a John Curtin Distinguished Professor at Curtin University and is now a Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials, the University of Adelaide. His research interests focus on nanomaterial synthesis and application for adsorption and catalysis, fuel and energy conversion, and environmental remediation. He has published more than 500 refereed journal papers with citations over 51000and H-index= 127 (Google Scholar). He was awarded the 2012 Thomson Reuters Citation & Innovation Awards in Australia and is listed as a highly cited researcher in Engineering and Chemistry in 2016-2020. He is a co-editor of Journal of Colloid and Interface and associate editor of Chemical Engineering Journal Advances as well as an editorial board member of several international journals. Vaidotas Kažukauskas Vilnius University Lithuania >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY Dr. Vaidotas KAŽUKAUSKAS is a Professor at the Faculty of Physics of Vilnius University, Lithuania. He was awarded Dr. Habil. degree in 1999. The topics of his research work are carrier transport, generation, recombination and trapping phenomena in advanced materials and structures for (opto-)electronic and photovoltaic applications. Prof. V. Kažukauskas is/was involved as a team leader into the six large-scale international projects and other numerous projects. He was awarded the National Science Award of Lithuanian Republic, the National Science Award for the Distinguished Scientist, the Science Award of the Rector of Vilnius University and others. V. Kažukauskas has more than 380 publications, had delivered more than 60 invited lectures at the international conferences, and authored three textbooks. INVITED SPEAKERS Giuseppina Nocca Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Italy >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY Giuseppina Nocca is an Associate Professor at the Biochemistry Institute, Faculty of Medicine, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) in Rome, Italy. She received her degree cum laude in Biological Sciences in 1992 from the Sapienza University of Rome and her Major cum laude in Clinical Pathology in 1998 from UCSC. From January 1999 to March 2021, she is a Researcher at the Institute of Biochemistry and Clinical Biochemistry of the Faculty of Medicine of the UCSC. From 1 April 2021 to today she is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the Department of Basic Biotechnological Sciences, Intensive and Perioperative Clinics of the Faculty of Medicine of the UCSC. She is the holder of numerous courses in disciplines related to the SSD BIO/10 in the degree courses activated at the Rome office of the UCSC, including Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, Biotechnology for Personalized Medicine, and Cosmetological Sciences and Technologies. During these years she established a research group with the aim to study the interaction between cells and biomaterials. The topics of her research are: 1) In vitro studies of the cytocompatibility of dental materials, both through cell toxicity tests and through the biochemical evaluation of monocyte-macrophage activity and alterations in cellular metabolism induced by dental materials.Study of drug-induced cell differentiation by observing phenotypic and biochemical alterations on myeloid cell lines. 2) Synthesis and characterization of new nanomaterials for therapeutic use.This line of research has been developed in recent years and has allowed the creation of biotechnology for the synthesis of recombinant viral proteins in E. Coli, capable of self-assembling to form both nanoparticles and nanotubes, from functional for a controlled release of drugs. In addition, she participated in the characterization of nanoparticles obtained from the synthesis of biodegradable polymers, in collaboration with other Italian Universities. Jianqiao Hu Chinese Academy of Sciences china >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY Jianqiao HU received his bachelor and Ph.D. degrees in Engineering Mechanics from Tsinghua University, China, in 2012 and 2017, respectively. In 2014-2015, he worked as a joint Ph.D. student at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He currently works as an assistant research fellow at the State Key Laboratory of Nonlinear Mechanics, Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include the multiscale study of contact, friction, and wear. Walid Dachraoui Swiss Federal Laboratories Switzerland >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY Walid Dachraoui is currently a scientist at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) in Dübendorf, Switzerland. He received his doctoral degree in physics from the University of Antwerp (2012) at the Electron Microscopy for Materials Science group (EMAT). Thereafter, he carried out postdoctoral studies at the University of Aix-Marseille at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center of Marseille (CINaM). He was postdoctoral researcher at the University of Paris Diderot at the Laboratory of Materials and Quantum Phenomena (MPQ). He then joined the Tarascon's group at the University of Picardie Jules Verne (LRCS and RS2E). Then he moved to join electron microscopy team at Philips University in Marburg as scientist. Dr. Dachraoui's research interests cover various topics in electron microscopy and materials science, such as atomic resolution and low-voltage electron microscopy, as well as in-situ electron microscopy. His activity is focused on imaging the growth and degradation of nanomaterials for different applicationsat the atomic level and imaging battery materials (cathode, anode, and electrolyte) and their interfaces at atomic resolution and in real time during charge/discharge. He has published articles in numerous fields ranging from atomic structure of perovskite-based materials, to in-situ liquid TEM, nanomaterials, in-situ electrochemical TEM, battery materials, and materials for solar cells. Muhammad Tahir College of Engineering UAE >> Biography × BIOGRAPHY Dr. Muhammad Tahir is an Assistant Professor at the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department, College of Engineering, United Arab Emirates University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from University Technology Malaysia (UTM) in 2014 and was selected as a fellow at the same University. He served 6 years at UTM and established a photocatalysis and green energy research group. The topics of his research development of catalysis/photocatalysis and nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications. He is working on different research areas such as photocatalytic water splitting and CO2 reduction, hydrogen production, advanced structured materials, photocatalytic dry reforming and bi-reforming of methane, photocatalytic steam reforming and advanced functional materials. He was awarded with more than 25 national and international awards such as distinguished researcher, highly cited researcher, best innovation awards, prototype development awards, distinguished professor awards and many others. He is successful to publish more than 170 publications in a reputed journals as a first, single and corresponding author with H-index 42 (Scopus). He is also successful to file 8 patents from the outcome of different research projects. He has been successful to deliver invited lectures in several seminars, workshops, and conferences.
