CELEBRATING UNICEF FOUNDATION DAY: A LEGACY OF HOPE AND COMPASSION

Posted on: 2023-12-12 10:28:06

UNICEF - United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund emerged from the
urgent need to provide emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in
nations ravaged by the aftermath of World War II. Every year on 11th December,
the world comes together to celebrate the foundation day of UNICEF. It was
established in the year 1946 viewing the aftermath of World War. UNICEF has
played a crucial role in advocating for children’s rights and providing
healthcare, education and protection. It began to improve the lives of innocent
children.

Its mission grew over time, and it is now a global organisation dedicated to
promoting the rights and well-being of all children, regardless of race,
religion, or nationality. The organisation works hard in over 190 countries and
territories to address the most critical issues impacting children. The theme of
UNICEF's World Children's Day in 2023 will be "For every child, every right."
This yearly event serves as UNICEF's dedicated day of action for and by
children. The fundamental goal of World Children's Day is to raise awareness
about children's rights and to improve their general well-being.

As the year 2023 approaches, UNICEF recognises the halfway point of the 2030
Agenda for Sustainable Development. This achievement demonstrates the
organisation's commitment to creating long-term and beneficial outcomes for
children. UNICEF's efforts go beyond emergency aid to include a comprehensive
education, health, and overall child development approach.

UNICEF’s impactful work has been in healthcare, education, protection, and
emergency responses. UNICEF works within the context of the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a series of 17 interrelated goals
approved in 2015 by all United Nations Member States to solve global concerns
and promote people's and the planet's well-being by 2030. Here are some of the
key SDGs that UNICEF contributes to, SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 -
Quality Education, SDG 5 - Gender Equality, SDG 16 - Peace, Justice, and Strong
Institutions and SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals.

UNICEF's commitment is unshakeable, and as we move forward, we must renew our
commitment to creating a world in which every child may thrive. As an
individual, you can contribute by supporting through donations and volunteering,
raising awareness about children’s rights, and educating yourself and the people
surrounding you.

Child Help Foundation along with their crowdfunding partner Filaantro has always
aimed at working with children and for children, with the support of
underprivileged families, a lot of development could be provided to these
families. The organization has taken up the UNICEF’s SDGs of SDG 3 - Good Health
and Well Being, SDG 4 - Quality Education, SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation
(WAS), SDG 5 - Quality Education, SDG 2 - Zero Hunger, SDG 11,13,17 -
Humanitarian Relief, SDG 14 - Life on Land, SDG 15 - Life Below Water, and SDG 8
and 10 - Decent Work and Economic Growth and Reduce Inequality.

Since the inception of the organization, with the help of generous donors and
huge support from people all over the world, a total of 25,043,430 people have
benefitted from our work. The organization aims to help more underprivileged
people, considering their needs and necessities.

Let us commemorate UNICEF Foundation Day by honouring the organization's legacy
of kindness, resilience, and optimism. Our united efforts can pave the road for
a brighter, more fair future. Let us continue to support UNICEF's goal and work
together to create a world where every child has the opportunity to grow, learn,
and thrive.
