This is my all time favorite set of colored pencils. I now have given all my
other colored pencils to my kids. The pencils color so smooth and when needing
to be sharpened they sharpen amazingly!! I was having a hard time with other
brands not sharpening correctly. I love how well they blend together and how you
can use a small paint brush with water and blend with a whole other look. For
the serious or novice art lover.

I had a full set gifted to me by a very generous family member about 5 years
ago. I have been using them nearly every day since they were gifted to me. I
have tried other brands but non of them really compared in quality. Recently a

For the price, this is a great pencil. While it isn't the best on the market,
you can achieve the same smooth even look by dipping the tip of the pencil into
a tiny bit of petroleum jelly, which I did in my attached picture. I did the
whole bottom layer with petroleum jelly, but I didn't use it when I layered. On
heavy paper, you probably won't get grease stains on the back, but on lighter
paper you might, so always test first. I found that these pencils were
scratchier than more expensive pencils, even with petroleum jelly. I love the
color options and how vivid the pencils are.

I picked these pencils up as a set I could use for my new Where’s Wally coloring
book. Something I didn’t mind using up sharpening for small details and without
much expectation of needing to do blending and shading. I wanted decent pigment,
but didn’t have many expectations beyond that. I was actually rather surprised
that they did as well as they did. Not as well as any of my artist grade pencils
and not as well as my new Micador ColouRush pencils, but they still performed
quite well. I decided to do a big comparison of 8 of my pencil brands – 4 Artist
grade (Polychromos, Prismacolor, Derwent Artists and Lyra Polycolor) and 4
budget pencils (Micador, FC Classics, Marco Raffine and Fantasia). A la Peta, I
used the 8 pointed mandala in one of my coloring books and divided into 8
sections choosing 9 fairly similar colors from each set. This way it was the
same paper and at the same time so I could best compare how they handle blending
and layering. So as I like to do on my pencil reviews I tried to analyze by the
talking point generally used in evaluating pencils: Pencil Core: Pencil core is
one of the harder ones in my comparison because most of the others have some oil
in the binder, but definitely not scratchy or anything of that nature. Nice,
solid pencil that can keep a sharp point. Pigment/Layering: The pigment load is
very good – pretty much equal to the Micador’s so they did very well there. They
do not have the smoothness to blend particularly well. You have to coax them
along a bit, but they did OK.The Micador's still won that round on the budget
pencil side. Color Selection: I do like the color selection and the set has 48
colors which is a great size. Not as overwhelming as 72 can be when traveling
with them, but they have enough over a 36 could to get me my favorite tones in
the blue-green range. Sharpening: No issues with sharpening so far though I
haven’t had to use them enough to need to sharpen more than a couple of them
because they keep a nice
