OLIVIA CRANDALL

Olivia Crandall is a writer, artist, and teacher. She was born in Cleveland, got
sober in Chicago, and currently lives in Los Angeles. Some of her most enduring
fixations are postmodernism, “trash” media, and the Shakespearean players of the
Bravo cinematic universe.

Olivia’s work includes cultural criticism, embroidered garments, and comedic
fiction—all exploring the space where high-brow and low-brow cultures meet. Her
teaching practice leverages this same dichotomy, playfully challenging
traditional frameworks of making.

You can find her teaching with Index, her editing in the zine Not Here to Make
Friends, and her writing in places like Vulture, InStyle, Dirt, Gossamer, Cake
Zine, Points in Case, and her newsletter—What If?.

She is currently at work on a contemporary rom-com novel that explores the
absurd yet tender nature of addiction and recovery against the backdrop of a
reality television show.
