2 ASYLUM SEEKERS FOUND DEAD IN CAR OUTSIDE NYC MEGA MIGRANT SHELTER: COPS

Two asylum seekers died of apparent overdoses outside a mega migrant shelter in
Brooklyn, police said Friday.

The men, ages 24 and 25, were found just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday in a parked
Nissan Sentra at Scott and Flushing avenues outside The Jefferson — a six-story
commercial building that was opened in March to handle the migrant crisis, cops
said.

The 25-year-old man died at the scene, and the 24-year-old man was rushed to
Woodhall Hospital but did not survive, according to police.

Drug paraphernalia was discovered inside the car, according to police sources.

The city’s Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

The nationality of the two dead men was not known.

Both arrived in New York City in December, sources said.

The 455 Jefferson Street location is one of two massive Humanitarian Emergency
Response and Relief Centers that opened over the last few months to help handle
the influx of migrants from the southern border.

The other was in Times Square’s vacant Candler Tower office building.

The victims’ causes of death are still unclear, but there was no sign of foul

“We were saddened to learn about the tragic death this week of two asylum
seekers found outside of a facility in Brooklyn where the city is providing
migrants shelter,” a City Hall spokesperson said.

“The NYPD is investigating this incident,” the spokesperson added.
