Buri Gallery, a House from Home...

“Like most of Thailand, Chiang Mai is a beautiful but hectic city, the volume of
people, the tuk-tuks and the humidity can sometimes be a little overwhelming! We
found Buri Gallery House to be quite literally a little oasis of tranquility
amongst the chaos, and spent some of the best days of our honeymoon there.

From the moment we stepped inside the staff were beyond friendly, and couldn’t
have been more helpful. The style of our villa was (from a European’s
perspective) quintessentially Thai, the hand made trinkets, the veranda
overlooking the deep blue pool, and the ceiling fan above the bed made us feel
like the sort of posh colonial travellers you only find in Agatha Christie
novels. The envious looks we received from the diners in the restaurant when we
passed through, and they realised we were guests says it all!!

Of course the WiFi, air con, buffet breakfasts, cocktails, delicious food, and
on site massages, combined with staff who will arrange any excursion you can
think of (including flagging down taxi’s and bartering a good price for you) is
everything the modern traveller needs. They even left a surprise birthday card
and gifts in our room when they discovered it was my birthday!

These little touches made all the difference! As you can tell we can’t recommend
Buri Gallery enough, and we’re sure you’ll love it just as much as we did. Our
only advice would be; however many days you’re planning to stay in Chiang Mai,
plan longer....!“

The best place to stay in Chiang Mai

“ We did a lot of research before we came to Thailand - I like a plan, I like to
cross reference reviews in life anyway and our planning for this trip was
thorough (perhaps too thorough, you can get into a tripadvisor worm hole).

Buri Gallery House kept coming up as the best mid price place to stay in Chiang
Mai - we’re on our honeymoon and want to stay in special places that feel
authentic while keeping to our budget. And it is the perfect place to stay - we
have loved our time here and are sad to leave.

The hotel itself is right in the middle of the action (and the Sunday night
walking market is right outside the front door) - making it easy to walk to
temples, restaurants and other Chiang Mai highlights. Our room was beautiful,
clean and traditional - tidied each day with a generous amount of bottled water
replenished and free homemade pineapple cookies.

The walls are thin because this is a small local hotel that feels right out of
Tales of the City. When you check in, you’re asked to be quiet in the evenings
(and hotel signs back this up) - and to call reception if your neighbours are
too loud. This happened to us late one night and we did call the front desk, who
gently asked next door to be quieter, which they did. No aggression, no feeling
of being uncomfortable for complaining... But if you are after a party hotel,
look elsewhere!

Free breakfast every day was tasty and plentiful - and the happy hour cocktails
and food in the restaurant also lovely.

But above all, the kindness of this small hotel and its wonderful staff really
stood out for us. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure you’re having the
perfect stay. Tour suggestions are helpful and honest - you’re not being upsold
something that’s not right for you - and everyone is genuinely concerned that
you are having the best time. We really have to mention the manager Kang, Dew on
the front desk and Beer in the restaurant - thank you for giving us the perfect
stay for our honeymoon.

And on that note, we are two chaps on our honeymoon. Shouldn’t be an issue - but
it could be in some places and for some people... But here, all the staff were
genuinely excited and happy for us.

If you want to stay somewhere wonderful and personal in Chiang Mai then look no
further.“

Memorable by Stormyallen

“ Having just read the previous negative reviews, I can only say my wife and I
only have good memories of our stay at this hotel.
We chose this place to stay whilst in Chiang Mai celebrating our 50th wedding
anniversary because we liked the traditional Thai look of the place and it's
great
position in the Old City. Although we had some hassles getting there due to
missed flight, we were certainly welcomed and made to feel 'at home'.
Our room was spacious with air con and a balcony overlooking the pool.
The bed was large, clean and comfortable and no bugs to be seen :-).

If clean towels were wanted, all you had to do was leave the soiled/wet ones on
the floor and they were replaced.
Although the walls are very thin and noise can sometimes be heard, there are
signs around asking people to be respectfully quiet.
We didn't find it a problem. Whatever minor complaints you might have,
the staff and their exceptionally friendly service more than outweigh them.
We were even presented with flowers and a card on our 50th.

They were always trying to help make our stay enjoyable, both in reception and
in the restaurant.
The breakfast menu was good, although perhaps a tad monotonous when staying for
a while
The pool was also welcome after a hot day on the go and never busy.
I only say this hotel is slightly expensive comparing it to what is available
elsewhere in Chiang Mai,
it simply gets down to what you are looking for and we were not disappointed.

“ We loved out stay at buri gallery house. The room was spacious and has a lot
of character, i love that.
The bed is good and comfy, i remember waking up the first morning after sleeping
10 hours straight saying this was actually my first great night of sleep so far
on this trip.
Bed also has a nice mosquito net. Even tho i wouldnt have felt the need for it
personally,
this is Thailand and you never know what kind of critter could find its way into
your room and they know some people are really scared of that, thats why they
put it.

The pool area was very nice, we didnt get to use it but if we did we would have
had it to ourselves.
Its is not a big property so it isnt too crowded anywhere, whether its at the
pool or the breakfast area.
Speaking of breakfast, which was included, they offer a small buffet with drinks
breads and fruits as well as an a la carte menu. The quality of the food was
good.

But what really stays with you and what really made me want to write this review
is the exceptional quality of the service here.
The staff are just the friendliest warmest hosts i’ve ever seen in my life.
They are so eager to please and really want the guests to enjoy their stay.
You can tell they go the extra mile to make sure you will be happy with your
accomodation.
They are the kind of establishment that takes time to read the reviews on here,
take note of any negative comment people might have and work to correct it as
much as they can.

I know they will be reading my review and so i would like to thank Kass for her
great attitude and also give a very special thanks to Dew.
We came one late night thinking about taking a tour the next day, not too sure
about what to do,
and Dew spent a good hour with us telling us about the different activities
available, showing us pictures and videos.
She was just really nice and fun and we really liked her.
We ended up going for the Dragon Flight zipline adventure and had a great time.
Dew arranged everything for us, she even asked us if we had insect repellent and
since we didnt, she said she would get some for us the next morning before we
would leave.

That is the kind of toughtful attentions you can expect from the awesome staff
at buri gallery house, a real 5 star service.
If you are every in Chiang Mai and decide not to stay here, you are clearly
missing out! “

Great location and comfortable villa rooms and nice extra touches like snacks
and water available at reception to help yourself,
but the big positive is the people that run the place they are just so friendly

“ I stayed in Buri Gallery Hotel three nights, and earnestly speaking it was my
best hotel experience in all Thailand.
The best thing was the staff, they were SO kind and knowing and spoke very good
English.
They did everything better, than other places.
The location is also perfect and the food is wonderful.
It is a place, you want to relax and hang out. My room was not the top.
I would have preferred a Window. If I come back to Chiang Mai, I will stay here.

“ More of a traditional timber Thai building in one of the best positions
possible in the old city.

Staff are without exception attentive, helpful and knowledgeable.
Su on front desk was great. The gardener was a lovely man and worked his bum
off.
The included breakfasts were really good and there is a nice little bar area.
Food outside the breakfast period was really good and in many cases very
economical considering it was a hotel-like environment.

They pride themselves on providing organic food, and surprisingly have a green
house tucked away that must be sitting on very expensive inner city land.

The pool is small but adequate.
Cleanliness and bed comfort were both good.
The stairs to the first level could be difficult for some people, but those
rooms are preferable, particularly with the timber construction. “

“ This place is absolutely amazing and we are so glad we booked to stay here for
our Chiang Mai leg of our Thailand trip!
We are so looking forward to coming back here for our next one!
Staff are so attentive and their attention to detail is magnificent, as well as

Breakfast cane included with the room, and the team there were fantastic,
taff was especially great and made sure to ask us what we were up to every
morning and ask our opinions.

“ Pleasant and stylish hotel
Atmospheric hotel inside the square. The staff is unusually friendly! I
especially want to note a girl named Rita, who met us on arrival. In addition to
registering at the hotel, Rita gave us a lot of useful information, noted
interesting places on the map. Breakfast is not varied, but you can choose and
order one of the options for egg dishes or French toasts with banana and
chocolate. The hotel has a very cheap laundry! After a walk in the national
park, this option was very relevant. Liked everything! The smallest problems the
staff tried to solve instantly “

“ In all of our travels we have never experienced the hospitality extended to us
as we did by the staff of this gorgeous hotel. The staff were amazing and the
wonderful, personable hostess LP approached us daily to ensure our needs were
being met. She gave us tips on what to do and where to go. She truly cares about
your experience here and we loved chatting with her every day. And then there is
Fei, the beautiful young lady who waitresses in their restaurant. She is so
humble and sweet. When we were leaving Fei and LP came to say goodbye and I
cried. Our stay there was definitely a highlight of our vacation. This unique
hotel is located close to the temples, restaurants and all amenities. We walked
everywhere. The food is excellent in their restaurant as well. “

Cosy, small and charming hotel in an excellent location from Bruno O.

“ Small hotel in the heart of the Old City. It's definitely not the best hotel
i've ever stayed in, but they do compensate that with their friendliness and
their willingness to improve their hotel. For instance, during our stay they
asked me if i would change something at my room to make it better. So i
mentioned i didn't like the white lights in the bathroom, they make it look very
cheap and that yellow lights would give it a more cosy feeling. To my surprise,
they did change the lights during the day. It's a small thing we Europeans could
learn from.

We walked the whole time (5 days) and felt we could've walked even more. The
location of the hotel is fantastic, but yes, you do need to use your feet in a
city like Chiang Mai, it's not Disneyworld after all!

Is the hotel noisy as some people complain? No, not at all. It's the people in
the rooms who make it noisy. And in our case, we were never woken by outside
noise.

The rooms could probably be freshened up a bit though hopefully not loose their
charm. And yes, the safe isn't attached so not really safe but they know about
that problem so i'm sure they'll fix it in no time!

We didn't get pushed into one of the tours as we think they are often tourist
traps. But we decided to still take two (rafting & visit of Doi Suthep on New
Year's Eve). Both were great as Buri Gallery House works with quality agencies
that offer quality tours.

Don't forget, you are on holiday, so be cool and enjoy your stay! “

Wonderfully Surprised by A T

“I booked this room initially for location and budget.
We also liked the originality of the place and the non cookie cutter hotel
rooms.
I have stayed in some very nice hotels previously and did initially have
reservations but was really comfortable and happy.
We were so happy with our large twin room which had a balcony with chairs and a
table to relax, in the afternoon.
Everything was adequate for the stay.
Staff are lovely and professional.
The breakfast room was open and bright with a good selection.
The hotel also grows some fresh vegetables which they add into the meals.
The location is fantastic for seeing Chiang Mai and on the same road as the
Sunday Markets.
The hotel has its own pool, gift shop and attached restaurant / bar which was
great for after sight seeing meals, drinks and snacks.
Also located next to 7-11 and across from a pharmacy type business.
Our only thing to point out is their are stairs up to the above level rooms
which may not suit some travellers with mobility issues or heavy / large
suitcases. So a ground floor room may be preferable.
We would have no hesitation in staying here again and loved everything about it.
It is not a modern, fancy hotel by any means but we were sorry to be leaving and
we felt very comfortable and welcome there. The room was larger and felt more
relaxing to be in than our next hotel in Bangkok.
I have to add that some reviews I read prior to our stay were quite harsh and I
am glad I disregarded.
I do understand we are all expecting different things from our stays.
Yes, the walls are not soundproof but our neighbours were not rowdy and were
respectful of noise levels (even with a little child). I found the chain hotel
in Bangkok to be much noisier.
This hotel is great and I am happy to recommend. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

our honeymoon and we stayed in a very large and comfortable villa. The staff are
exceptional and really made sure we had the very best experience both at the
