ARE LED LIGHTS GOOD FOR OUTDOOR USE?

LED lights are excellent for outdoor use. In fact, outdoor LED lighting is
perfect for adding an extra boost of security to your perimeter. Not only can
outdoor LED bulbs reduce energy costs by up to 90%, but they produce brighter,
more even light than their traditional counterparts. LED lights also last 20
years, compared to traditional lighting, which needs to be replaced every 2-3
years. This saves you and your client valuable time and money.

HOW MANY LUMENS DO I NEED FOR EXTERIOR LED LIGHTING?

The first thing you should do is determine the square footage of the area you’re
looking to illuminate. Do this by multiplying the length times the width. Then
determine the number of foot candles by room type. For reference, there are
usually charts online with this information. Once you have this number, multiply
it by your square footage, and that’s the number of lumens you’ll need. As an
example, if a space is 100 square feet and needs 30-40 foot candles, you’ll need
3,000-4,000 lumens.



HOW LONG DO LED OUTDOOR LIGHTS LAST?

LED outdoor lights typically last 20 years. This means 20 years without
replacements, which saves you and your client countless hours and money. All of
our LED lights are third-party quality tested, meaning that when we say a
fixture will last you over 100,000 hours, we mean it. Traditional lighting, on
the other hand, will need to be replaced every 2-3 years, making it a more
costly and less efficient option.

WHAT IS THE BEST OUTDOOR LED LIGHTING COLOR?

Well, it depends on what you’re looking to illuminate. If you’re wanting to
highlight statues or stonework, stick in the 2000K to 3000K range. This warmer
color temperature range will give a nice contrast against otherwise cooler
colors. You’ll want to use a similar color temperature range, as it’s not harsh
on the eyes, for outdoor living and entertainment areas. For garden lighting,
try 3000K to 4000K, which is more in the neutral color temperature range, giving
a natural hue to plants.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LED OUTDOOR LIGHTS?

Unlike their traditional counterparts, LED technology turns out right away. They
also are much cooler, which makes than safer to handle, reducing the risks of
burns. In addition, there’s no need to take extra precautions when disposing of
them, unlike with CFLs and incandescent bulbs. LED outdoor lights also last much
longer than traditional lighting and save your client thousands on their
electric bill.
