Thingon emerged as the Champion after a most tense and exciting 3 man 4 hole
play off involving fellow countryman Manes Saengsui (Thailand) and Glenn Joyner
(Australia) will go on to represent Thailand and the AST in the USA playing on
the Champions Tour at the US$ 2 million dollar purse 2017 Insperity Invitational
presented by UnitedHealthcare at The Woodland CC from Mon 1 to Sun 7 May 2017





Congratulations Gunasagaran (Malaysia) who made golfing history as the 1st
Malaysian professional golfer to ever play in the USA when he represented the
Asian Seniors Tour against most of the world's leading senior professional
golfers at the US$ 2.1 million purse Insperity Invitational presented by United
Healthcare staged at the Woodlands CC in Houston, Texas from 2 to 8 May 2016,
where Guna returned a most respectable 3 day 54 hole total score of 222 at 6
over, to come in tied for 48th place.

In previous years the AST was represented by;
2014 - Ahmad Bateman (Brunei) who returned 222 at 6 over par to place tied 48
2015 - Murugiah (Singapore) who returned 234 at 18 over par to place tied 72
2016 - Gunasagaran (Malaysia) who returned 222 at 6 over par to place tied 48
2017 - Thingon Jansomboon (Thailand) who returned 227 at 11 over par to place
tied 70

Since 2014 the Asian Senior Tour's leading senior professional golfer has been
invited to take part in the annual US$ 2 million + purse Insperity Invitational
presented by UnitedHealthcare staged at
The Woodlands Country Club in Houston, representng the AST, playing in a US
Champions Tour event.

In 2016 the AST established a SUPER SENIORS division catering for our older
members as well as golfers from both professional and amateur ranks who have
attained 60 years of age and in 2017 will add a VETERANS division for golfers
who have attained the age of 70

The AST will continue with its efforts to secure additional playing
opportunities for its members at other Senior Tournaments, both in the Asia
Pacific region and further afield internationally.

The AST / APCT have been generously allocated one place by the Legends Tour for
our leading member to play and contest the Australian - Ladbrokes Legends Tour's
biggest event of the year, The New South Wales Senior Open 2017 which will be
stage at Thurgoona Golf Resort from Thu 2 to Sat 4 Nov and offers a min AU$ 100k
purse. This is indeed a great honour, and given that the starting field will be
120 and will be cut to 50 after 36 Holes so our man had best be on his toes!

In 2018 the AST have been allocated 2 places for our leading members to play in
the New Zealand Masters at Chisholm Links 2018 offering one of the largest
purses on the NZ circuit, to be staged at Chisholm Links GC, Dunedin on Sun 25 &
Mon 26 Feb offering a min NZ$ 50k purse, this is indeed a great honour.

AST Qualifying Schools are conducted in in Malaysia several times a year and
also in other countries, prior to the AST's Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter
Seasons. AST Qualifying School is also conducted as PRO Qualifier events staged
during all ASM tournaments.

Present and past members of any recognised PGA or Tour are NOT required to under
go the AST's qualifying school and are automatically eligible to join the AST
provided they are at least 50 years old

AST membership joining and annual fees 2017 / 2018

It will cost a Senior Professional who is NOT a member of the AST between US$
250 and US$ 350 extra to play in an ASM event depending upon the prize money on
offer, so it does make sense to join..

Despite a Non-Member possibly qualifying for Country Exemption Status at an ASM
event, please note that it can / will cost a non-member between US$ 250 and US$
350 extra to register and play in the event depending upon the prize money -
playing opportunity on offer, so it does make sense to join the AST....
