RECLAIM OUR
LABOR MOVEMENT

Our democracy is jeopardized by a political system where money is equated with
free speech and candidates must raise millions of dollars to finance their
campaigns. We must end the corporate war on workers and unions by electing
pro-labor political candidates at all levels of government.

Resolution - 6 - Reclaim America - Political Action and COPE, UWUA 30th
Constitutional Convention, 2015

RETRAIN OUR WORKERS

Projections indicate that by 2030 the energy sector overall, including
transmission, storage, and distribution, will need an additional 1.5 million
workers, but following deregulation, utilities have stopped providing sufficient
training for their workers. With the Power for America Training Trust Fund
(P4A), UWUA has pioneered a new model that uses a joint labor-management trust
in order to provide the highest quality (union-led) training to meet the needs
of the industry and the global marketplace.

REPOWER
OUR ECONOMY

We will continue to advocate for ensuring that any and all new energy policy
maintains grid reliability, protects displaced workers and affected communities,
and protects consumers from corporate pricing opportunism. As part of an “all of
the above” power generation strategy, UWUA also supports federal investment in
carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), a technology that can reduce
carbon emissions while protecting and creating new energy jobs.

Resolution –22 - Repower America – Grid Reliability and a Secure and Just
Transition, UWUA 30th Constitutional Convention, 2015

REPAIR OUR
INFRASTRUCTURE

The current condition of our gas, water and electrical infrastructure threatens
the U.S. economy and the safety of citizens, and the UWUA has sounded the alarm
for more than a decade. We urge that updating our infrastructure requires
investment in projects large and small, and we demand an infrastructure
maintenance and modernization plan that partners with labor, and respects all
workers.

Resolution - 1 - Repair America - Infrastructure Investment, UWUA 30th National
Convention, 2015
