A recent Hill-HarrisX poll found that a slim majority of registered voters
believe that chief medical adviser to the president Dr. Anthony Fauci should
resign.

Fauci, who has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and
Infectious Diseases since 1984, has proven to be a highly controversial and
polarizing figure during the coronavirus pandemic.

In the recently conducted survey, 52% indicated that Fauci should resign, while
48% indicated that he should not.

Nearly a third of Democrats (32%) indicated that they thought Fauci should step
down, while a whopping three quarters of Republicans felt that way. One quarter
of Republicans and 68% of Democrats did not think Fauci should resign. Among
independents, 47% thought he should resign, while 53% did not think so.

"This survey was conducted online within the United States from October 26 - 27
among 937 registered voters by HarrisX. The sampling margin of error of this
poll is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points. The results reflect a nationally
representative sample of registered voters. Results were weighted for age,
gender, region, race/ethnicity, income, political party, education, ideology and
area type where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the
population," a survey description explains.

The findings appear to indicate a shift in public sentiment against Fauci
compared to another poll conducted earlier this year.

A Hill-HarrisX poll conducted in June found that 42% of registered voters
thought he should resign, while 58% did not. In that poll, 20% of Democrats, 66%
of Republicans, and 40% of independents thought that Fauci should resign.
