March 6, 2023: Isaac Bruns of Dakota Valley has 2,177 Points Scored, Career.

March 3, 2023: Joe Sayler of White River scored 28 points vs. Jones County. 
 Joe has 2,589 Points Scored, Career, 5th place on the All-time, Points Scored,
Career list. 

March 3, 2023: Dakota Valley defeated Tea Area for their 49th Consecutive Win. 
Dakota Valley ties Custer (1989-1991) for the Class A, Consecutive Wins record
of 49.  

March 2, 2023: Dakota Valley has won 48 Consecutive Games.  The Class A record
for Consecutive Wins is 49, held by Custer from 1989-1991.

March 2, 2023:  Isaac Bruns of Dakota Valley has 2,152 Points Scored, Career.

February 28, 2023:  White River(123) defeated Oelrichs(28). White River’s 123
points ties them with Cheyenne(123) vs. Eagle Butte(60), 1958; and Summit (123)
vs. Veblen(60), 1983; for 6th place on the All-Time, Class B, Team, Points
Scored, Game list.

February 28, 2023: Joe Sayler of White River scored 40 points vs. Oelrichs.  Joe

March 2, 2023: Olivia Kieffer of Rapid City Christian scored 27 points vs.
Miller.  Olivia has 2,419 Points Scored, Career. Kieffer is currently 11th on
the All-time Points Scored list. 

February 25, 2023: Avery Broughton of Corsica-Stickney scored 19 points vs.
Andes Central/Dakota Christian.  Avery has 2,223 Points Scored, Career.

Scored, Career leader with 2,298 Points Scored, Career.  He passed Colby
Fitzgerald who has 2,294 Points Scored, Career. 

January 7, 2021: Brayden Pankonen of Dell Rapids made 11 Three Pointers, Game
vs. Canton.  

January 6, 2021:  Matthew Mors of Yankton scored 28 points vs. Sioux City East. 
Matthew currently has 2,314 Points Scored, Career.   

January 2, 2021:  Connor Libis of Dell Rapids St. Mary’s scored 43 points vs.
White River.  Connor currently has 2271 Points Scored, Career.  He is currently
10th on the All-time Overall Scoring List.  Colby Fitzgerald is 9th on the
All-time Overall Scoring List with 2,294 Points Scored, Career.  Fitzgerald is
the All-time leading scorer in St. Mary’s history, and currently serves as the
St. Mary’s head boys basketball coach.  8th on the All-time list is Terry Dupris
of Cheyenne-Eagle Butte with 2,323 Points Scored, Career.  7th on the All-time
list is Dale Hall of Ravina with 2,325 Points Scored, Career.  

December 31: Connor Libis of Dell Rapids St. Mary’s scored 20 points vs.
Chester.  Connor currently has 2,228 Points Scored, Career.  His currently 13th
on the All-time Overall Scoring List.  Connor is 11th All-time on the Class B
Career Scoring list.  

December 30:  Matthew Mors of Yankton scored 25 points vs. Campbell County,
Wyoming.  Mors has 2,286 Points Scored, Career.

December 29:  Matthew Mors of Yankton scored 31 points against Thunder Basin,
Wyoming. Mors has 2,261 Points Scored, Career.

December 28: Connor Libis of Dell Rapids St. Mary’s scored 26 points vs.
Chester.  Connor currently has 2,208, Points Scored, Career.  He is currently
14th on the All-time Overall Scoring List. 

Matthew Mors of Yankton scored 48 points against Spearfish.  Mors’ 48 points
ties him for 5th, all-time Class AA, Most Points, Individual, Game.  Ron Hern of
Rapid City Central scored 48 points in 1976.

December 23:  Matthew Mors scored 14 points on December 22 vs. Sioux Falls
O’Gorman.  He has 2,230 Points Scored, Career.  Mors is the All-time Class AA
Points Scored, Career leader.  He is currently 13th on the All-time, Overall
Scoring List.

December 22:  Connor Libis of Dell Rapid St. Mary’s scored 41 points in his
first two games.  Libis has 2,182 Points Scored, Career. Connor is 13th on the
All-time Class B Scoring List.  He is 16th on the All-time, Overall Scoring
List.

Lead-Deadwood.  Olivia has 2,365 Point Scored, Career. Olivia’s 2,365 Points
Scored , Career is Eleventh, All-Time in South Dakota Girls Basketball history. 

February 20, 2023: Avery Broughton of Corsica-Stickney scored 20 points vs.
Avon.  Avery has 2,204 Points Scored, Career.

February 14, 2023: Avery Broughton of Corsica-Stickney scored 27 points vs.
Tripp-Delmont/Armour.  Avery has 2,184 Points Scored, Career. 

February 14, 2023: Olivia Kieffer of Rapid City Christian scored 6 points vs.
Spearfish.  Olivia has 2,345 Points Scored, Career.  Alex Kneeland of Summit has
2,347 Points Scored, Career, 11th All-Time. 

February 13, 2023: Olivia Kieffer of Rapid City Christian scored 27 points vs.
Lakota Tech.  Olivia has 2,339 Points Scored, Career. 

February 11, 2023: Avery Broughton of Corsica-Stickney scored 22 points vs.

February 10, 2023:  Avery Broughton of Corsica-Stickney scored 10 points vs. Mt.
Vernon/Plankinton.  Avery has 2,135 Point Scored, Career. 

 

February 16, 2023: Malik Longie of the Flandreau Indian School scored 56 points
vs. Oldham-Ramona/Rutland.  Malik’s 56 Point Scored, Game ties him with Terry
Slattery of Dell Rapids St. Mary’s, 1955, and Andy Smith of Tiospaya Topa, 2001
for Eleventh Place on the All-Time, Class B Points Scored, Game list.

January 28, 2023: Malik Longie of the Flandreau Indian School scored 53 points
vs. Takini.  Malik’s 53 Points Scored, Game ties him with Milt Sorensen of
Wakonda, 1952; Cliff Anderson, Bristol, 1974; and Jiggs Biegler of Timber Lake
on the All-Time, Class B Points Scored Game list. 

February 14, 2023: Joe Sayler of White River has 2,437 Points Scored, Career.
Sayler is currently in 8th place on the All-time Points Scored, Career list. 
Milt Sorenson of Wakonda is in 7th place  with 2,480 Points Scored, Career. 

January 22, 2021:  Brooklyn Kusler of Aberdeen Central scored 41 points vs.
Harrisburg.  

The Winner Warriors were defeated by West Central, 53-43 on December 18, 2020. 
The Warriors’ consecutive wins streak ended at 49.  The forty-nine consecutive
wins is second all-time in Class A Girls Basketball history.  Miller won 73
consecutive games from 1990-1993.  Rapid City St. Thomas More won 48 consecutive
games from 2015-2018.

FOOTBALL DURING THE SPANISH FLU OF 1918-1920

In  1925 Will Robinson of the South Dakota Historical Society published an
essay, ” Sports In South Dakota”.  Robinson presented a list of “Best Claimants”
to the State High School Football Championship”. Robinson stated that there were
no games played in 1918m due to the Spanish Flu Epidemic.

The Researchers on the career of Amanda Clement are participating in a Society
For American Baseball Research project to highlight Women in Baseball.  Be sure

baseball.  Check out our Historical Narratives.  A special records database is
being development.  Check out the projects and content relating to Independent
Professional Baseball. 

Baseball History researchers Terry Bohn, Phil Dixon, and David Kemp are
developing extensive content on the performance of African American Basketball
players in the Upper Midwest.
