Played baseball and basketball for Compton High School. All Coast League Team
Baseball 1965,1966. California Interscholastic Federation All (CIF) Basketball
Team in 1966. All Coast League Basketball 1st Team 1965, 1966. Led Compton HS to
the CIF Basketball Playoffs both years.

 1. All games and practices will be held at the MLB Youth Academy in Compton
    (901 E. Artesia Blvd Compton, Ca 90221) - League costs $25 - There will be a
    selection/draft day before placed on.
 2. Major League Baseball (MLB) selected TEC as General Contractor to build its
    Youth Academy, a permanent facility in Compton, CA. The purpose of the
    Academy is to cultivate the talents of young minorities on and off the
    baseball field, by providing year-round baseball and academic instruction.
 3. In 2006, the first Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy in the United
    States was opened in Compton, California, providing free baseball and
    softball instruction to Southern California youth, ages 8–17. Since then
    academies have opened in Houston, Texas (2010), New Orleans, Louisiana
    (2012), Cincinnati, Ohio and Washington, D.C.

Darrell Keith Miller (born February 26, 1958) is an American former professional
baseball catcher/outfielder, playing from 1985 through 1988. Before being
drafted to the Major League Baseball (MLB), he played three seasons at
California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California. He played his
entire career for the California Angels, the team that drafted him in the 9th
round of the 1979 Major League Baseball Draft. He played in 224 career MLB
games, batting .241 with 13 doubles, 8 home runs, and 35 runs batted in, in 394
at-bats. As a member of the team in 1986, the Angels advanced to the American
League Championship Series, losing to the Boston Red Sox.[1]

Miller serves as the director of Major League Baseball's Urban Youth Academy,
located in Compton, California. He is a Catholic convert from Baptist
Christianity,[1] having intended initially to make his wife convert to his
former denomination, but to no avail.[2]


FAMILY[EDIT]

Miller is the brother of Basketball Hall of Fame members Cheryl Miller and
Reggie Miller.[1] He attended Ramona High School in Riverside, California in the
mid 1970s.

He is married to Kelly Miller and has three children; Darrell Jr., Nicole and
Cameron.
