   Tauntauns are a species of snow lizard found roaming the windswept snow
   plains of Hoth. The Rebel Alliance domesticated the swift creature during
   their stay on the ice planet, and used the animals for patrol duties outside
   Echo Base. The animals came in useful as the rebel technicians had difficulty
   adapting their repulsorlift speeders to the subzero temperatures. Though
   tauntauns are sure-footed and well equipped to handle Hoth's daytime
   temperature, the chilling extremes of a Hoth night will prove deadly.

   Hoth is the sixth planet in the remote system of the same name, and was the
   site of the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base. It is a world of snow and ice,
   surrounded by numerous moons, and home to deadly creatures like the wampa.

   Luke Skywalker was a Tatooine farmboy who rose from humble beginnings to
   become one of the greatest Jedi the galaxy has ever known. Along with his
   friends Princess Leia and Han Solo, Luke battled the evil Empire, discovered
   the truth of his parentage, and ended the tyranny of the Sith. A generation
   later, the location of the famed Jedi master was one of the galaxy’s greatest
   mysteries. Haunted by Ben Solo’s fall to evil and convinced the Jedi had to
   end, Luke sought exile on a distant world, ignoring the galaxy’s pleas for
   help. But his solitude would be interrupted – and Luke Skywalker had one
   final, momentous role to play in the struggle between good and evil.

   Han Solo rose from an impoverished childhood on the mean streets of Corellia
   to become one of the heroes of the Rebel Alliance. As captain of the
   Millennium Falcon, Han and his co-pilot Chewbacca came to believe in the
   cause of galactic freedom, joining Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa in
   the fight against the Empire. After the Battle of Endor, Han faced difficult
   times in a chaotic galaxy, leading to a shattering confrontation with his
   estranged son Ben.

   WAMPA
   
   Wampas are powerful furred bipeds that dwell in the snowy wastes of the ice
   world Hoth. These hulking predators have razor-sharp fangs and claws, yet
   move with surprising stealth, relying on their white fur for camouflage while
   hunting prey such as tauntauns. A wampa attacked Luke Skywalker outside Echo
   Base, killing Luke’s tauntaun and dragging the rebel commander away. An
   injured Luke awoke to find himself upside-down in the wampa’s lair, his feet
   frozen into the cavern ceiling. Luke used the Force to call his lightsaber to
   his hand, cut himself free, and severed the wampa’s arm with a quick stroke.

   ECHO BASE
   
   After the Battle of Yavin, the rebels fled from the Imperial starfleet,
   seeking a new main base of operations. They settled on the frozen Outer Rim
   world of Hoth, where they enlarged caverns to form Echo Base, defended by a
   powerful ion cannon and squads of airspeeders converted to operate in frigid
   conditions. Unfortunately, the base was barely established when an Imperial
   probe droid discovered it. General Rieekan ordered an immediate evacuation,
   but before Echo Base could be abandoned an Imperial task force arrived,
   landing AT-AT walkers and ground troops. Though key personnel escaped, the
   Battle of Hoth was a costly defeat for the Alliance.

   REBEL ALLIANCE
   
   The Rebel Alliance stood bravely against the evil of the Galactic Empire,
   never backing down despite overwhelming odds. Formed from resistance
   movements that arose during the Clone Wars, the Rebellion worked in secret
   for decades to overthrow the Emperor and restore democracy to the galaxy.
   Eventually, armed with the firepower of ships like the X-wing and A-wing, and
   the leadership of figures including Princess Leia and Admiral Ackbar, the
   Rebel Alliance triumphed over the Empire at the Battle of Endor.
