EXPERIENCING DANCE BEYOND MOVEMENT

 

Veena Chikkanahalli Seshadri was initiated to music, dance and drama from the
age of seven by her parents. She received professional training in Bharatanatyam
from the world renowned Kalakshetra College of fine arts, Chennai and was
further guided by Guru. Minal Prabhu ‌and ‌Guru. Jayalakshmi Eshwar. Synthesised
the knowledge received from various Gurus with strict discipline, dedication and
sincerity of learning the techniques of nritta -nritya and natya in Kalakshetra
style Veena has successfully carved a niche as a  performer ,Choreographer, and
a Guru.

Veena’s Dance is spontaneous expression of powerful emotions and deep knowledge
of the  dance. Her style retains the depth, resonance and sensitivity of ”
Hastas, Taalam , Foot work, Abhinay ” as well as laying stress on the subtle and
lilting phrasing of the dance choreography. Through this combination, she brings
to perfection the delicacy and sentimental mood of every Rasa. She is a master
of improvisation and possesses the rare ability to breathe life and originality
into a classical theme traditionally, thereby moulding it into a living and
captivating form. The outstanding qualities of Veena’s performances are her
maturity, incredibly outstanding presentation of her dance, and her imaginative
development in the true form of richness of traditional Bharatnatyam dance form.

Veena has given many performances at International and National events and
 festivals. Nehru Centre London,Zurich,Latvia,Spain, Germany, ICC Bangkok,
Thailand,Doha, Dubai, Sringeri Vidya Bharathi Foundation- Stroudsburg- USA,
Hampi, Mysore, Vizag, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bhuvaneshwar  to name a few. She has
extensively performed as a solo artist and is also invited as a guest artist by
institutions :Casa de la India-Spain, University of Valladolid, Spain, Apoorva
Noopura (NJ), Srishti School Of Dance (Washington DC) and  Swaranjali (New
Delhi).

An   A Graded artist from Doordarshan, an Empanelled artist of ICCR and high
first class in MFA Bharatanatyam, enlisted in FOI cell, Ministry of Culture and
  also  a member of CID UNESCO as a Bharatnatyam dancer. She has been awarded
the title Nrutyashree by Ministry of Odisha, Natya Mayuri by Sadhana
International, Beijing and Yoga Kala Nidhi by SGS yoga foundation.

Exploring boundaries and inspiring people towards Bharatanatyam Veena trains
students in Natyam across globe including some from deprived background. In Kala
Sampada , her institute along with Bharatanatyam students are trained in
Carnatic vocal , Sanskrit , Bhagavad gita to bring  an holistic development. An
impressive performer, a creative choreographer, an affectionate and loving Guru
, Veena Chikkanahalli Seshadri believes Natyam to be an external manifestation
of inward journey.
