FACEBOOK WOULD FINALLY LAUNCH ITS CRYPTOCURRENCY IN JANUARY 2021

Remember: in June 2019, Facebook announced the arrival of Libra, a
cryptocurrency independent of states and banks. Like Bitcoin or Ether, Libra
relies on Blockchain technology, a decentralized ledger that allows information
to be stored immutable and inviolable. Instagram Facebook is not surprisingly
targeting its cryptocurrency for online payments through its own apps,
Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.

Soon, financial regulators and authorities opposed Libra's rollout. The US
Congress asked the California social network to immediately halt its
development. For its part, France quickly announced its intention to impose a
very strict framework on virtual currency. To manage the influx of critics,
Facebook promptly entrusted the management of Libra to the Libra Association, a
large consortium of Financial Partners.


A STABLECOIN ONLY BACKED BY THE US DOLLAR

Despite the public hostility, Facebook would launch Libra as early as January
2021, report our Financial Times colleagues. Nevertheless, the project would
have changed a lot since the June 2019 announcement. To escape regulators,
cryptocurrency would have been revisited. According to the words of " three
people involved in the project ", Facebook will finally be content to offer a
stablecoin, a cryptocurrency whose price is more stable and less volatile,
backed by the US dollar in a proportion of 1: 1.

In the beginning, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and founder of Facebook, wanted to back
Libra with a medley of several currencies : dollar, euro, pound sterling, yen
and Singapore dollar. In the end, it will only be a digital dollar offered to
all internet users around the world. With this Libra revisited in cryptodollar,
the United States seeks to extend the hegemony of the dollar King abroad, at the
risk of competing with fiat currencies such as the Euro or the ruble. Similarly,
Libra could establish itself as a direct competitor to the digital yuan, the
central bank digital currency developed by China.

 


MACS M1 (ARM): WINDOWS 10 IS FASTER THAN ON A SURFACE PRO X 2

Going through a virtual machine, a developer named Alexander Graf managed to
install Windows 10 on a Macbook equipped with an Apple M1 chipset. Still,
BootCamp does not allow to install Windows 10 in a simplified way, and directly
from macOS. To circumvent this limitation, the developer relied on the open
source software QEMU.

To achieve his goals, the man used a patch to run the ARM code directly on the
M1 chip without having to go through a translation into x86 code. Indeed, ARM
processors on Windows are forced to "translate" desktop software (x86) in order
to be able to run them. Thanks to the trick of Alexander Graf, Microsoft'S OS
runs like a clock.




APPLE'S M1 CHIP MAKES WINDOWS 10 RUN FASTER THAN MICROSOFT SQ2 PROCESSOR

As several benchmarks published in the Geekbench database show, a MacBook
powered by an M1 chip is even capable of running Windows 10 faster than a
Surface Pro X 2, the convertible computer sold by Microsoft itself. These
benchmarks were achieved with Geekbench 5.



As our colleagues from MSPowerUser report, the 2-in-1 laptop on Windows 10
climbs to 799 in single core and 3089 in multi core. These honorable scores are
due to the integration of a Microsoft SQ2 processor, another chip based on the
ARM architecture. The chipset is supported by 16 GB of RAM.

With its M1 chipset developed by Apple Silicon, and only 4 GB of RAM (4 times
less than the Surface Pro X 2), the MacBook with Windows 10 rises to 1288 in
single core and 5449 points in multi core. De facto, Microsoft's operating
system is faster, faster and more efficient on a machine designed by Apple. This
new benchmark confirms the superiority of the Apple M1 chip over other PC
processors based on an ARM architecture. Obviously, on waiting for other
benchmarks pour confirm the balance of power.
