LET'S TALK ABOUT ISRAEL

AN IMMERSIVE ISRAEL EXPERIENCE FELLOWSHIP WITH MOISHE HOUSE

Moishe House Residents and MHWOW Hosts across the country tell us that their
communities are increasingly divided: politically, economically, socially, and
so on. As such, the subject of Israel tends to be a particularly difficult topic
to handle. Moishe House is meant to be a space where community building can–and
should–happen along these fractured lines.

So we must ask ourselves: how can we embrace complexity and rigor without shying
away from the unknown or the controversial? How do we lead our peers to address
subjects that we ourselves don’t completely understand? How can we articulate
the issues that divide us and interact with them and each other in a way that
builds community? How can we celebrate Israel without feeling we’re not woke
enough? How do we dig into Israel’s pressing concerns and complexities–even
those that do not involve the conflict with the Palestinians?


WHAT IS 4HQ?

The 4HQ framework serves as a template to guide meaningful conversations about
Israel, even (and especially) with a divided audience. Additionally, the 4HQ
framework is a way to listen to Israel conversations, break them down and, think
clearly about Israel issues.

4HQ Israel Encounters is a yearlong program of webinars, in-person gatherings,
1-on-1 mentoring sessions and one weeklong trip through Israel. The aim of this
program is to equip Moishe House residents and MHWOW hosts with the knowledge,
skills and confidence necessary to create and facilitate meaningful programs
about Israel.

Throughout the year we will explore the social, historical, and political
landscape of Israel from a multitude of perspectives and together we will
translate those experiences into practical, real-life Moishe House programs.
