Cheese Afternoon Tea For Two
Cheese on a barge? Is this a new Wallace fantasy? No, this is for real.  WHAT'S
THIS ALL ABOUT? Cheese Barge Afternoon Tea on a barge in London. Cheese tasting
experience on a solid  96ft double decker barge, The Cheese Barge! Moored on the
Regent's Canal serving - cheese! In fact they do ring the changes with the odd
Braised beef shin risotto ( with fresh goat’s curd) but really their grilled
cheese sarnies and cheese boards are the main event. It’s just the best way to
watch the world and the ducks go by.  The best way to check out this floating
cheese palace is to forgo cakes, and tea and sit down to ‘Afternoon Cheese
tasting for Two’.  This comprises a platter of 6 different British cheeses, each
with individual condiment pairings, a carafe of house wine (red or white),
alongside crackers and a grilled cheese sandwich.   If that sounds a bit
mundane, perhaps we should point out that the cheeses are to die for. The Cheese
barge supports the real cheese makers of Britain, farmers and rural communities
who produce cheeses that you can’t find in supermarkets. The pairings are
selected with care and could be a pickled cucumber or a slice of poached pear.
So pass the chilli jam Gromit, and help yourself to some of that Quicke’s
Clothbound Cheddar on the way round… TELL ME MORE Selection of 6 British Cheese

Vintage Cinema London. Enjoy Cocktails and a great movie, a heady combo and a
great night out. WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT? TT Liquor is based at Shoreditch vintage
Cinema in London, and is known for all things cocktail-related. The venue was
originally an old Victorian police station and the old lags who found their way
into the establishment would be more than a little surprised at the makeover. It
still has atmosphere in spades, but this is achieved with the twinkling lights
around the bar, pinging off the bottles.  They also has a fabulous 52 seater
cinema. Sit and sip a classic cocktail, while watching a cult classic, Hollywood
hit, or independent gem. The cinema is newly built, but with the wood floors,
brick walls and panelling this is film buff heaven.  Past showings have included
‘The Big Lebowski’, future listings include ‘Eraserhead’ , ‘La Haine’’ and ‘The
Texas Chainsaw Massacre’.  Every month they put on fifteen different showings,
so there is an impressive turn over of the classics. More of a private cinema

Forage London - The Edible City
Guided by expert foragers, explore London's diverse edible plant life over a
3-hour walk, learning about historical uses, herbal medicine, ethical foraging
practices, and culinary uses with wild ingredients found in the city's parks and
green spaces. WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT? Greater London has a microclimate.  There
is an enormous and diverse range of edible and medicinal plants on our
doorstep.  As well as the wild indigenous plants, there are a whole range of
edibles introduced by Victorian park planners, modern councils and even domestic
gardeners. This walk covers a lot of bases.  Learn about the edible and
historical use of plants and mushrooms (when in season).  Get to grips with
herbal medicine - aspirin was originally derived from the willow tree and of
course there’s cookery. You will learn the ‘all things in moderation’ rule. This
is both to preserve you and nature.  It’s not about pulling anything and
everything that looks green up by the roots. Your Expert Guides: John Rensten is
the founder of Forage London, author of "The Edible City: A Year of Wild Food,"
and co-founder of The Association of Foragers. After living and foraging in
London for 20 years, he moved to Dorset in 2016 to focus on mushroom hunting and
coastal foraging, but still runs urban foraging events and wild food walks
through his network of highly experienced Foragers. His passion for wild food
began while running a gastro pub, where he incorporated foraged ingredients like
wild mushrooms, plants, and seaweeds into the menu. Join them exploring
Hampstead, Burgess Park or Peckham Rye Park. Locations are variable according to
the seasons. The walk lasts 3 hours and the maximum in each group is 16. This

Kintsugi Workshop
Embrace those imperfections with a golden repair. WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT? Learn
how to mend once loved china and earthenware in this mindful introduction to the
Kintsugi method. The visible repairs are seen as part of the history of an
object, highlighting the cracks and symbolising fragility, strength and beauty.
This golden repair is called Kintsugi. WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS WORKSHOP? The idea
of this workshop is to repair a loved item, joining together the fractures using
the Japanese Kintsugi method - applying the resin glue to the broken sections
and making it whole once more. The imperfections aren’t to be hidden but
embraced! The Kintsugi method celebrates the beauty of the scars in an object
and recognises that the history should be shown and not hidden. Choose your
broken porcelain (vase, bowl, plate or cup), and be taken by our resident
Indytute expert, step by step through the technique of mending each section
piece by piece. This is very much a thoughtful and methodical process….not to be
rushed, where each piece is applied and repaired carefully. THE ALL IMPORTANT
DETAILS The Indytute will provide all the kit needed for this workshop: You can
bring your own china but we can't guarantee it'll be finished on time as the
process needs to be done with patience. The class is two hours and runs monthly
on Saturdays and Tuesday or Thursday evening. Location is Kensal Rise (a couple
of stops from Paddington). This is a gift for either one person or two people.

This
walk is always popular so get in quick. There is nothing more satisfying than
learning how to walk on the wild side. THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS Numerous

The class is two hours and runs monthly

your surroundings. After a refreshing session, take a deep breath and listen to
the sounds from the trees.  Forest bathing, or Shinrin-yoku, is a lovely way to
let go of the stresses from everyday life.  This practice is as simple as
walking through nature and connecting with what is around you.  Look out for
passing deer and birds of prey who can often be seen winging across the
hills—this is ancient woodland.  Sit on a tree stump, look up, and really let
go.  The effects are fantastic and will stay with you whenever you walk through
a woodland area.At the end of the day, you will all gather again around the
firepit and enjoy some delicious BBQ snacks.  Sheltered areas have also been set
up, just in case.  A bit of weatherproofing.  This is a chance to chat and
discuss elements from the day.Of course, by this time, you may be so relaxed you
might just want to sit and smile. TELL ME MORE Your host is Xenia, a seasoned
yoga teacher, and also a trained forest school assistant, who has explored
foraging and medicinal herbs alongside her core skill. Xenia is adept at making
her classes welcoming and fun for everyone, so if you are new to yoga, you won’t
feel left out.   THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS Location - Bolney, East Sussex

DSLR Urban Photography Workshop, Manchester
You’ve bought the camera, and now you fancy a bit of extra help.  Maybe you feel
you are not technically up to speed with the technicalities, or you would like
help, creatively, to take your images up a notch.  You need an urban photography
workshop. WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT? This is an inspirational 4-hour urban
photography workshop based in Manchester. Ancoats to be precise. It’s pretty
cool in the popular Northern Quarter. Mills and factories have been turned into
elegant flats, and restaurants and bars vie for your attention beside historic
pubs and canals. There are lots of different images to draw on, from the
architectural to the social, and it’s the ideal area for an outdoor, urban
photoshoot. You can focus on a variety of themes and learn how and when to take
the best shots—and when not to take them.Alongside the creative aspect of this
experience, you will also be getting technical. This workshop does, in fact,
start indoors, where you will cover the camera functions, aperture, shutter
speed, ISO, and composition before moving outside. TELL ME MORE This experience
is suitable for complete beginners or keen amateurs wanting to up their game. It
is run by professional photographer Nicola Thompson, who has worked as a
professional for the past fifteen years, and run the workshop for five, which
makes her a very committed teacher. There are up to 8 other students on the day,
and you need to bring your own camera with full manual capability, and at least
one lens. This workshop can also be booked as a 1-2-1, or an experience for 2 if
you would like to come with a friend. The digital camera is still king when it
comes to a photograph. An iPhone pic might look fabulous on a small screen, but
zoom in and then compare the shot to a similar one on a DSLR—no comparison—and
let’s face it, these cameras are also rather sexy!   THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS
Ancoats, Manchester 6 group sessions held per year on weekends starting at

Sake Set Wheel Throwing Workshop
Dive into the world of pottery and sake culture. Spin clay into charming cups
and a bottle, discover how your handmade creations can enhance the flavor of
Japan's favourite spirit. It's art you can drink from. WHAT'S THIS POTTERY CLASS
ALL ABOUT? Learn how to transform a lump of raw clay into a functional and
beautiful piece of art. For the Japanese, sake is as much about the ritual as it
is about the spirit; A sake cup can apparently change your perception of the
drink; Ceramic cups help soften the acidity in sake and are considered the best,
so you can think about that as you start to design and create your own. Don’t
worry if you’re a beginner—you’ll be guided through every step of the process as
you conquer the fundamental skills needed to throw and shape pottery on a wheel.
There are two separate processes in this class: Wheel Throwing (2 hours) Glazing
You’ll be making two sake cups and a sake bottle, but you’ll have to wait a few
weeks before the set can be collected. It will be fired in your absence, and
you’ll be notified when they’re ready for pick-up. The studio offers a very
zen-like environment for creating and experimenting. Teaching takes place in
small groups, so you’ll receive lots of individual attention from Raymond, who
is simply the best—kind, patient, and fun, just what a novice needs. TELL ME
MORE Why are the cups so small? Drinking sake is a social activity, so you must
always fill up a friend's cup before your own. This is a token of camaraderie
and respect. It also ensures that you are drinking the spirit at the correct
temperature—and all this time, you thought you were just going to a pottery
class... THE ALL-IMPORTANT DETAILS Location: Acton 3 hour class You are advised
to wear old clothes, and trim your nails - don’t say you haven’t been warned,
you are about to get stuck in. 1 teacher per 6-7 people. All materials including
the cost to fire your creations is included  HOW DOES IT WORK All you have to do

Forage Box: Multiple Locations
Spend 5 hours finding, identifying, and tasting wild ingredients and preserves.
This is a foraging experience with a feast at the end.  Always wild.  Always
sustainable.  Always delicious. Multiple locations. Northwest UK. WHAT'S THIS
ALL ABOUT? At the start of the day, you will be given a briefing on the safety,
ethics, and etiquette of foraging, and also the laws, for yes, there are laws
around foraging.  It is also about taking what you need and not just grabbing at
everything you see.The walk will cover about 3-4 kilometers of paths, as you
search out edible wild species and learn how to spot poisonous look-alikes from
a professional forager.  This is obviously a very important part of any foraging
experience.  This is a chance to slow down, meet new people, and reconnect with
nature. There are lots of flavours to be discovered in our hedgerows, and even
if you never pick another leaf from the wild, you will have learned a lot about
our native plants and sustainability. The feast at the end of the day will have
been prepared in advance by your tutor - and it is a feast.  Menus are seasonal,
often consisting of over 30 different wild ingredients.  There will be up to
five different courses, and two drink options, so you will be able to taste the
extraordinary flavours that nature provides.  The feast comes in your own
personal ‘forage box’ - a cool bag with a bento box filled with deliciousness.
Every forager will have their own recipes, and menus will of course reflect the
seasons.   What will you get?  How does nettle and wild fennel quiche sound?  A
wild garlic pesto, pickled hogweed with braised pigeon breast, wild parasol
mushroom risotto and roasted chestnuts - you get the idea.  It will certainly
inspire you to get out there and discover the bounty on your doorstep. TELL ME
MORE These foraging workshops are held all over the Northwest, from The Wirral
to Sheffield. They run from spring through to autumn and need to be booked well
in advance as they are very popular.  The maximum number of people in any group
is 25, and the events run from Wednesday through to Sundays.  Regular events are
held at each of their locations, only changing if the land needs a ‘rest.’   THE

pressure won’t go into overdrive if you make a mistake, but you won’t. Raymond

Picnic Cruise on the River in Oxford
A proper traditional wicker hamper, packed with treats to share as you float
down the river. WHAT'S THIS ALL ABOUT? Well, for a start, it’s very quiet. This
small, elegant river boat is electric and designed not to rattle you or the
wildlife as you take the river route that Lewis Carroll and Alice Liddell
frequented when he wrote ‘Alice in Wonderland’.Travel past quaint Osney Island,
with its allotments and gardens, ancient Port Meadow and Godstow, taking in
stunning views of Christ Church meadows, the university boathouses, and the
regatta course. This is Oxford at its picturesque best, seen from the river,
which puts a completely different focus on its famous landmarks. It’s leisurely,
intimate (no more than 12 passengers per cruise), and includes a short stop-off
at a historic riverside pub. TELL ME MORE Well, there’s the picnic lunch, which
of course always tastes miles nicer when it comes in a wicker hamper for you to
unpack. The treats typically include finger sandwiches, tart of the day,
homemade scones with cream and jam, washed down with elderflower presse. If you
want other drinks, you can buy these on departure. Of course, there will be
napkins, proper china, and glasses. This is a traditional picnic, and you
wouldn’t settle for less. If it rains, there is an awning to keep you dry and
tables for the picnic. Expect tales of the riverbank from the captain (not too
many, just enough), as you settle back and watch the ducks dabbling - ‘up tails
all’.   THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS Location -  Oxford Duration -  3 hours No

Hello! I’m so pleased you found us among the ‘big boys’ of the experience gift
world.  I hope you find that The Indytute is a bit different. I handpick our
experiences because I personally love them - they either give you that warm glow
or the wow factor and they are all run by brilliant, talented people that love
what they do. My favourite gifts have always been experiences - that £20
harmonica class is still an evening to remember five years on, the pottery pet
bowl I made with my husband is in daily use and that delicious curry with a few
too many cocktails at Battersea Power Station was a hoot. I launched The
Indytute when I hit 30.  After a career in designing and selling ‘stuff’ I’d had
enough - I needed to de-clutter my life… so I moved onto a canal boat, sold my
business and started The Indytute! From gifts for couples to some very
tasty food and drink gifts I hope I’ve got all bases covered… and for that very
tricky, picky person you can let them choose with a gift card! We have tested
out the experiences out so you don’t have to worry and your lucky recipient
won’t ever have to pay more than the experience - because how boring is that?!
We’re always adding to the ‘new experience gift’ category so keep an eye on that
and drop me a message in the chat if you like what we do. It's memories that
matter. Right, so off you go… Start gifting experiences!
