CHILDREN'S DANCERS Growing up in a town where learning Scandinavian folkdance in the summer is annual activity is pretty special. The Junction City Scandinavian Festival would not be the same without the many levels of kids dancing throughout the day. Children as young as two can be a dancer, as long as they attend the handful of practices prior to the Festival and have a costume. The age groups for dancing goes through high school and beyond. Find out when practices are held and who how to contact the group directors over on the Dance page. The Tomte will be featured with an animal they are frequently pictured with in folklore. Being small in size, Tomte possess great strength, a love for work, passion for chores and affection for children. You will often see them with a pig, goat, chicken, cat or dog as they love animals. Hosting a Tomte can be helpful and bring luck to their homestead, as long as they are fed! The Tomte is an important part of Scandinavian folklore and we are excited to be featuring them on our next set of Junction City Scandinavian Festival membership pins.
