Welcome! On this site you will find details of my retro computer collection,
which is based around the Acorn BBC Microcomputer, and the Acorn Archimedes
series of machines that were popular in the 80s and 90s.

I’m also planning on covering my various projects installing and upgrading these
machines. This is primarily to remind me what I’ve done, should I need to repeat
it again in the future, but I hope others trying similar things will find the
information useful.

I’ve started work on this site in mid August, and so it is going to take a while
to fully populate it. So things may look a little empty here for a bit.

ABOUT

I’m Gareth, and I’ve always had an interest in making and repairing things.

As much as I would like to have a big garage or workshop to tinker with cars,
bikes and other big mechanical things; I live in Central London where space is
at a premium. Retro computing is one of the few hobbies of a suitable scale you
can enjoy in a London apartment!

down, and laid out the boards for production. Hardware …

Arduino board talking to an Acorn Econet network. The Arduino has MicroSD
storage, and an Ethernet port (via a commonly available shield) , both of which
I hope to make resources available on the Econet network. This should be better
…

BRIDGING THE ECONET / PC DIVIDE.

I mentioned on a previous post that Econet provides a way of linking together a
number of Acorn computers, although I didn’t go into the detail of it can help
when shifting around data between newer PCs and the retro world. The short
answer is that on it’s own, it doesn’t help much, as using …
