Welcome to the website of the York River Stewardship Committee, which was formed
in 2023 and includes appointees from Eliot, Kittery, South Berwick, and York.
The committee is the local partner for the nationally-designated Wild and Scenic
York River and is tasked with implementing the York River Watershed Stewardship
Plan.

2024 Annual Report: summary of the York River Stewardship Committee’s activities
and accomplishments for its first year

YRSC awards $42,000 to support local watershed projects. Congratulations to the
grant recipients: York Parks and Recreation, York Land Trust, York’s River
Access Ad Hoc Committee, Town of Kittery & Save Kittery Waters, and York
Conservation Commission

 * York River is one of 228 rivers designated into the National Wild and Scenic
   Rivers System (and just one of 18 Partnership Wild and Scenic Rivers). Learn
