BMA also provides these services to NY residents involved in motor vehicle accidents through no-fault insurance. Your evaluation and care plan can be accomplished either by telehealth or by meeting your clinician in any of our offices. Care may be provided in both settings over the course of time with us. Telehealth services are available for patients located in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Florida. Typically, the emphasis is on the diagnosis and treatment of a worker’s physical injuries; the psychological injuries they sustained are often overlooked or minimized. These psychological issues need to be addressed: effects of chronic pain, anxiety disorders (post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, and specific phobias) depression, sleep disorders, adjustment disorders, anger issues, psychosocial problems, relationship issues, caregiver distress, work problems, grief and loss, and difficulty coping with disability and injury. To treat these psychological problems, the therapists at Behavioral Medicine utilize techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), desensitization, exposure therapy, self-instructional training, relaxation training, meditation, mindfulness training and psychosocial support. These treatments provide skills and concrete behavioral techniques that can be used to regain behavioral and emotional functioning. BMA is dedicated to providing the injured worker with the most effective program of care. Helping an injured man or woman return to work, enabling them to maintain their dignity and sense of self-respect, is one of our most important missions.
