Friends of Clare County Parks and Recreation is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer
organization.

BREAKING NEWS!
Pere Marquette Rail Trail Work HAS BEGUN!
The long-time "Gap" problem will be fixed in 2024! It is finally happening after
years of waiting. The Start Date for construction was March 18, 2024, and the
tentative completion date is July 31, 2024. The project includes bridge
reguilding, concrete sidewalk, drainage, approach, and pavement marking work. It
will be a 2.3 mile shared-use path along M-115 from west of the southern branch
of the Tobacco River to Beech Street in Clare.

WHAT WE DO
Friends works closely with local parks and recreation organizations, local
municipalities, groups and individuals to improve parks throughout the county,
increase recreational opportunities for our residents and visitors and increase
awareness of Clare’s great natural resources.
We raise funds, which we distribute through recreational grants to qualified
individuals, organizations and local government agencies. We also assist with
sponsorship and hosting of events.
Why Support Friends of Clare County Parks and Recreation? Clare County is an
outdoor paradise, with more than 56,000 acres of state forests, 300 miles of
rivers, 55 miles of ORV and 28 miles of snowmobile trails, and more than 81
lakes, many with public access that offer great boating and fishing
opportunities. Our county also has four public golf courses, several dedicated
biking and/or hiking trails, a ski resort, zip line course and much more.
Like so many counties, little in the way of funding is available to improve our
parks or offer recreational opportunities to children or adults with limited
income or with disabilities or to help community groups or local government
units. Because of the support we enjoy from our donors, we are able to provide
small grants to those who are working to make Clare County a better place to
live and visit. We hope you will join with us.
